So glad Atlus decided to give the male party members these linked episodes. Social links are fine. But they're a lot more self contained in regards to character growth. Whereas you can actually see the character growth through these linked episodes depending on where they are in the story
I think the reason they managed to make them the most interesting incremental hangout in the trilogy is because theyre locked behind story progress and can be missed, so you cant see them after a character progressed and have to wait for them to progress before continuing. But P6 would never be as good as P3 in making characters grow through the main story, because P5 printed too much money and now every persona has to be identical
Peak fanart, I'm going to get that final collage framed irl. (Also, 2 smashes outta 3 call that an absolute win). Thank you for immortalising this into Joe stream history Nodja.
I've been having a great time with these streams all in all, with Joe also starting to get a bit into the plot. I do get a bit miffed about some personal misgivings Joe has, especially when they're a little convoluted or would rather focus on a small technical detail (that may or may not be because he didn't pay attention to the, albeit short comment on it), when he's missing the point which is the emotional beat the story is playing out. On the flip side, being in chat and looking at the stupidly harsh comments to Joe when they don't enjoy his reaction to a certain beat is WAY too over the top. They are in the minority, but some people get so frustratingly annoying when the middle-aged Canadian dad playing our weeb game gives some of his opinion on the Twitch streaming platform. A way I like to ground myself whenever I start feeling agitated to some opinion, is to remember Joe unironically hates Radiohead, and brings things to perspective lol. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, and Aigis best girl jphGaspg
Joe was right at the start of this, people will come in after having watched Persona 4 and 5 highlights and assume it's all funny haha jokes about those games and there's no way streamer would insult everyone's favorite Persona 3. As a weeb, I'll say it as many times as I can, some weebs are fucking insufferable.
I have to admit that I have come around to Joe's point of view. Chat is pretty unbearable for Persona 3. It probably is just a "Several Guys" problem, but the inability to engage with critical thoughts and insisting on weird idiosyncrasies makes this game less enjoyable for first-time players/watchers here. In contrast, I love Fan Art Friday. What a positive interaction between streamer and chat. And what a completely different vibe. (Apart from people yelling when the game starts, that is). "A Gorgeous View" made me cry.
Same. I also thought Joe was kinda nitpicky in the beginning, but I feel like he's been toning down his criticism, and what he does bring up is usually pretty valid. The one guys in chat being unreasonably hostile over a video game are really convincing me that joe is right lmao
Aside from 2 moments in this stream i do appreciate that joe is trying not to make the streams hostage that often anymore just to get validation from the non jad-members from the chat. Even tho he's doing that because "Its not worh to talk with chat about it" instead of realizing "its not worth to waste 10 minutes looking at the menu just to get validation from these ppl. I still think its kinda weird that he needs that validation even tho he has a discord full of ppl who agrees with him to the level of acting like a cult of personality and also the same ppl flood the chat with comments talking shit about anyone who doesn't agree with him but hey it doesn't matter lets just vibe with the game.
So many people just go "Joe's Right!!!" and that's all the thinking they can do. It's honestly disappointing seeing people just disregard any criticism and go "everything you just said is wrong and Joe is still right. Can i get a marble Mr. Streamer????" Like, end me please
I'm not sure what you mean. I think the people from JADS and especially the Persona 3 spoiler chat are the ones who disagree with him the most. I also don't think Joe is looking for validation from anyone but you are right that it's good that he decided to just play the game more instead of arguing.
What do you expect from a discord channel? It’s a moderated fan club on a questionable platform. Of course it will be full of people like you have described - everyone else has been removed, filtered.
For the drugs: Strega take them to surpress their persona because their personas will kill them, shinji used them because he didnt want to have a persona due to undusclosed events 2 years ago
for the edited vods i think maybe a real time clock for the stream could be nice, maybe like under chat? i know a lot of people might not care for it but i think it could be good to help understand how much time is being cut out. i might just be weird though
I like how there is a lot of information you can pick up if you paid attention to the scenes and if you make the connection with some elements (like the documents in Tartarus) to understand where it come Stregga (just remember, the chairman said they tested things) or the relationship between Shinjiro, Ken and the suppressants, and still Joe doesn't catch it and blames the game for not explaining so a lot of twists will cath him by surprise and I predict he will say the game pull that out of nowhere
Hey, can you please make more of the mashups of multiple streams at once like you did for the first 3 streams? I know it’s a lot of work but I don’t have much time to watch the vids
@@Carlosdreamur Okay I understand better now. He has a point because Persona 3 doesn't do a lot to explain some moments (I'm not going to say exactly what moments for spoiler reason). Later in other games or different media they give more context for a lot of things
The part about the drugs doesn't even seem that confusing honestly The drugs do one thing, which is suppress the Persona (when the user can't control it, but that's not a limitation that's literally the only reason you should ever want to use it) It's like people being addicted to idk, painkillers even though they don't need them actually, so that should be if anything a point of discussion about why Aragaki would take them But I think he's disillusioned enough that it didn't cross his mind, or it's just how he sees things. At least he said he's ready to be wrong, but his view has been warped pretty badly at this point I think lel
I truly think he just doesn't like soft magic systems and thinks the story (or any story really) would be better if it were a hard magic system. For whatever reason he just can't let the story ride as a soft system. That's why there's all the dumbass, "don't ask questions" rants he does.
are you talking about the dog? Koromaru: *whine* Aigis: That woman from earlier, She offered to take Koromaru in at one point, But at the time he still had unfinished business to attend to. wtf? is the "body language" koromaru does fucking ASL? Because thats the only way that makes any sense at all. I dont get why they didnt just have him speak when he clearly understands what people say and "communicates" complete thought out sentences. No reason to have aigis as a speaker, especially since she is the very last person to interpret emotions of others.
Joe can't believe that animals cannot understand each other, he just refuses to consider why something can be the way it is instead of assuming it's bullshit. Did the same with not even considering why a power of an outward personality might develop in a dog or an AI. He always assumes that anime games are written incompetently by default, so he never goes an extra step to connect the dots and expects everything to be explained.
@@ilavain Most of the time Joe wants something believable, that can be explained and makes more sense because for the setting it's in since this game takes place in a world exactly like ours, but there are just things in the world you can't really put into words because we don't know absolutely everything. Maybe the dog is speaking sending out brainwaves to other animals, hell maybe animals are psychic? Who knows.
@@Junpeifan11037 Believable is not what you mean. Even flat-earthers can't believe something as simple as facts. What joe wants is something reasonable, but even then he outright denies the reasons he receives. Most of them are not bad, they are quite alright as far as reasons for why things are happening; yet it feels as if he is searching for the equivalent of our real world understanding of physics in a fantastical story. Sure there are a lot of similarities to our real world, gravity exists, people need to eat and sleep; but the moment a Robot can understand nonverbal communication with a dog, that's where he draws the line and expects an essay on how that is even possible? I may be exaggerating but I also think that if the story did actually try to explain it he would still call it unreasonable.
So I've never played a persona title, and I will agree that so much content here is pretty dogshit, especially from a writing pov. But I think the pacing being poor has more to do with joe yapping with chat for like 60 % of the stream. I'm watching at like 2x speed and I still feel like nothing happens for huge chunks of the time. I get it might be cause he's pretty bored with the game, but I don't get how he can say anything about the pacing when he's not even engaging with the game in a standard way. Any movie would have dogshit pacing if you were pausing every 5 minutes to talk about random shit (or shitting on the movie).
this is the point of the game where the pacing picks up and whilst p3 does have an issue with its pacing, it's being overblown by joe having no idea what he's doing on each free day
The game has poor pacing and long long long stretches of nothing happening -> Joe has to try and keep himself and chat entertained -> Joe makes the game even longer by talking with chat. It's unfortunate but seriously Persona 3 has been so boring as a story, months of nothing happening and glossing over potentially interesting developments. Even ignoring Joe talking to chat, the pacing is absolutely rancid as someone who also hasn't played this game. People who have played through the game says that it picks up soon, which is an even bigger indictment in my eyes that it's pacing is bad up until then.
@@DrSpahSmoothJazzinAs someone that thoroughly enjoys Persona 3, the pacing is one of the most common complaints. It’s horrible. There’s simply no other way of putting it. All of the modern Persona games kind of struggle with pacing but 3 has it the worst. I think because this was the first game to utilise the calendar system so they hadn’t fully figured out how to make it work alongside a story.
I feel like this Persona is far and away the most boring to watch due to the glacial pace. Months and months of nothing interesting happening and many of the confidants are frankly lukewarm at best. The story being so much more serious doesn’t help. I haven’t played nor watched 4 but at least in 5 the cast was quirky enough to keep me interested even if it’s plot downtime. I currently playing through 3R for the first time and I have barely touched for the last week even with only a bit over a month left because the pacing of the plot and slogging through Tartarus have sucked the will out of me even when more interesting stuff happens finally
