I think people often forget that when you’re following a person who is sharing a decent portion of their life, you’re not entitled to know everything about them, nor do you need to to enjoy their content. Like after seeing last video that you two bought a house together, I was curious too and thought maybe I missed a life update, but once I realized there was nothing shared about it, I just shrugged and said well that’s none of my business. If it’s two friends buying a house together, that’s great. If it’s more than that, also great. The house content is the same either way lol

Being next to a lake and a forest, an affordable quaint older home with a brick exterior, adequate outdoor space…..I see why you said yes to that property. It makes me want to move to Germany myself. It’s beautiful there! Watching you go through the former owner’s lifetime of treasures is both sad and exciting. There is so much! It’s like taking a walk through the past. Very cool.

Hi Maddie, I was one of the people who commented about checking for asbestos. I'm sorry if it seemed condescending; it certainly wasn't meant to. I am very glad to hear you were/are going into this project with eyes open and especially that you have such solid support from Eli's family. I can't wait to see what you do with the place!
You weren't being condescending, only careful. Maddie doesnt explain everything to us, so we can only go on what we are being told in her videos (which is entirely her choice and I respect that). As a builder you had concerns and shared them. As the niece of someone who died from asbestos related cancer, we had no idea it was an issue until my uncle got cancer and learned how he got it. We watch her videos and only come from a place of caring.

That "Blacksmith Tool" that you were holding in your right hand at about the 7:30 mark in the video, is a tool used for pulling out nails, so you might find in comes in use during your renovations. They are called "Pincers" and although I am only a DIYer I have a few pairs exactly the same as the ones you were holding and I've used them several times on reno's around my house..
It's so fun to follow your continued renovation, since people have the energy to care about details, you're the ones who are going to live there and make it your home, as long as you're happy it's good. It will be exciting to see the house finished in a few, many episodes

I highly recommend a shop vac! You'll use it forever. No more stirring up dust and mold. Great for Spiders too. I have never seen anyone save a spider. Good for you!
Ok, maybe I have saved a spider but mostly I save Bees. I've saved a Duck and a bat before also.

The tools you held up are for shoeing a horse. They allow you to pull out the nails. Keep the tools around, you never know when you will that unique tool. I use my grandfathers one llike in your left hand to pull nails on drywall. It worked perfectly and did not mar the drywall board.

How exciting to be living in another country. I love Germany. I went there almost 30 years ago I loved it. You will be getting the hang of the language in no time. I really got a kick out of watching you clean out the tool shed. My grandpa was born in the U.S. to 2 emigrant parents from Germany. His wood workshop reminded me of your tool shed. He reused everything, saved everything, repurposed everything. It was fun seeing those little treasures that you found. I am looking forward to seeing what you two do with your renovations.
I have been to Germany many times. I found the people very warm and accepting. You will be just fine, and luckily you have Ellie to help. I am so excited for u. You're actually doing something I almost did.

Drawers without homes are not necessarily trash per say. In a workshop drawers can be hung on the wall to use as a cool box shelf. Or perhaps in another building in the future. I would keep all the wood around during a major renovation. Maybe a garden bed or you might need to build a quick form for a concrete step in front of an out building.

Hi Maddie; I'm so happy for You and Ellie buying the house together and that you both are going to be doing the remodeling together. You did a great job with the Van build in your RAM Promaster and I know you'll be able to do a really great job with everything that You and Ellie want to do about remodeling the house! Save all of the screws, nails,nuts and bolts, and all other types of hardware that You find while cleaning out the tool shed, because You might need something on a weekend or holiday when businesses are closed. Those first aerial shots and the bridge talk shot ...perfect. Great job setting up and filming so many shot while working. Hard enough just setting up and filming so many shots . Sorry you lost a bunch of footage . When I was a kid , that's how us kids would make money going around and finding glass soda bottles . 5 cents each for a small soda bottle and 10 cents for the 32 oz. Bottles . Very little plastic back then . Glad to see you wanting to hold onto someone else's years of memories. Hats off to y'all for doing that.
