I am still using windows 10. I am tired of windows and learning all the quirks. They change the formats all the time. I am tired of getting comfortable settling in and relearning to use a new version everytime. They can never keep the same format and add to it. They have to do radical illogical changes . Apple maybe my new laptop when I have to buy one. Tired of Geeks who can't make things simplified and have time to waste playing around. Remember old XP Pro. You could put your my document files in any order you wanted to have everything in a frequently used order. Should I wait till Windows thirteen. Indian programmers dont use the KISS principal. It sells a lot of manuals because everything is not intuitive or simple. Remember Windows 8. You had to do several steps everytime to get where you were going.

I’m inclined to skip Windows 11 but that’s because my current machines can’t upgrade to it and I’m waiting til end of support for 10 before getting any new ones.

Yes… makes sense. I have a newer machine with W11. I expect about 5 or 6 more years from my current machines… so I might skip over W12?

I already skipped Windows 11 and remain on Windows 10 which is how I did it with Windows 7 skipping Windows 8.1 which was pure accidental seeing how Windows 7 was still available at that time period Microsoft really went down hill after Windows 7 I want Aero Effects back badly but I know Microsoft doesn't care about us that shows they're an evil company.

@@futuristicentity2417 Windows is not aimed primarily at individual users like you and me. It's principal target is Enterprise, that is, very large companies. The secondary target is small business. Individual users are last in line. Applications, vertically integrated software, and both remote and local cloud services are the money makers for Microsoft. The OS is just a means to sell the applications and other services. It's not a question of being evil, it's just targeting the source of most of their income.

There are machines manufactured 5 years ago hitting the market that can run 11 and are Refurbished by Sanctioned Windows Refurbishers. I bought one for $300 last year and now I can get one for half that or less. Btw, that was just to hedge my best ans I install Ubuntu on my 5 other PCs.

Yes, it's MicroPe. . . Soft's fault that they can't resist putting out crappy software. They should have stopped with XP! They didn't, which is why I have tablets running Android and I'm currently shopping which flavor of Linux I want to switch to. Honestly, I was happy with MS 3.1! And I started out with the Geos OS by Commodore Business Machines for PCs. Actually a good working setup. But now I've got a bunch of files I can't read. One of these days I've got to dig out that old PC to transfer all those files to a format I can use now.

its surely their fault, from the hardware requirements to the complete constant forced and harassment of needing an ms account, to ads in certain things, to now starting to force bitlocker on everything where updates can cause loss of data in no time not to mention the ai stuff i have about as much interest as watching paint dry, i don't want any of these things near me, and whats sad is secure boot is now considered a security flaw right now after something was found. so it completely defeats the purpose of the "its more secure bs" they spout out sigh.

If Microsoft released Windows 12 this fall, would people skip over Windows 11 and go from Windows 10 to Windows 12? Many had probably skipped over Windows Vista and Windows 8

12 will be about quality hardware so win 11 is the lowest form of whatever. They can just block ur system until u pay a huge licence fee like in w7 when it wouldnt let u turn on ur system after 10 days and be very cruel about it.

Got fed up of all the update prompts & moved to Win 11 a year ago. Lots more crashes than 10 & Ethernet adaptor doesn't always wake from sleep, so no internet until I restart adapter. Should have stayed with 10!

Even if Microsoft would have released windows 12, I doubt many people would have moved to it. Especially if the requirements are the same as windows 11.

They're mistake is Vista and 8. Before it i remember ppl didn't want to skip, but after it ppl just has this mindset.
For every W10 lover that do have the Windows 11 requirements they forget how ppl also adapted slow to 10 instead of 7.
Same for 11 now, and will be the same for 12.
to all who are still on 10 and has the requirements... 11 is great.

Whether there will be a Windows 12 in the next year or two, Microsoft have put themselves in a corner. Despite an upsurge in Win11, Windows 10 still has over double the worldwide share. Make a basic Windows 12 (home?) , then have an advanced "pro" Windows 12 that's heavily AI driven, ARM processor friendly OS with all the new features they are trying to push onto Win10/Win11 users currently. Let the users decide if they want those features by upgrading to the advanced pro version of Windows 12. I'd be curious about Win12 and probably would get it for one of my systems. But not interested in Win11 though I've used it on a Surface. I'm not sure how Microsoft solves the Win11 lack of quick adoption. Maybe time to call it a Microsoft OS to skip and move on.

Microsoft should just go back to Aero Effects and kill this light and dark mode or I'm switching to Linux because I see no difference at this point they know they killed their own Operating System after Windows 7 during Windows 7 their agenda was to keep things SIMPLIFIED and after that they were SOMEHOW suddenly interested in making it worse. I think after Windows 10 I might be switching to Linux Mint Cinnamon and skipping out on the Windows 11 upgrade due to its harsh upgrade requirements and the fact that Steam games are getting better on Linux due to proton and the massive theme selection with a classic and modern theming process Linux has a large range customization over Windows there have been results that Steam gaming on Ubuntu have been dramatically improving even I tried Steam gaming on Linux Mint Cinnamon with amazing performance and stability I can also emulate my games on Linux if Microsoft wants to keep it up with the modern propaganda Linux might be my new home in the future.

It would just be a brand name change, if you look closely, they would almost be the same...
Windows 12 = Windows 11 + some new things but not so many...
Anyway people should buy new PCs to enjoy Windows 12, maybe not switching from Windows 11 but most likely switching from a Windows 10's PC

I'm on W10 pro and when this PC needs a new SSD I will install Linux rather than Windows on it . This machine is an Athlon A10 R7 and doesn't support TPM 2.0 or the other requirements for W11 . I also have an i5 3460 that needs a new HDD but haven't got round to repairing it yet.
IMO all PC's should come with no OS and allow the user to decide what OS they want to use, Many will choose Windows as that's the best known but Linux does everything that Windows can do if you just want the P|C for emails, surfing the net and streaming media.

I think it comes down to the TPM… W10 has to be kept alive long enough for all the PCs without TPMs to find their way into E-Waste piles…. W11 had to be created for the new TPM machines. W12 has to arrive to make use of NPUs… face it, progress never stops and MS is as much a victim and beneficiary of it as the rest of us.

I really don't think it matters at this point if they put out a Windows 12 or not.
Most people don't upgrade Windows. They buy new computers with the new version on it. They aren't buying new PCs with Windows 11 on it now. Why would they want to rush out and buy a new PC with Windows 12 on it? A lot of the problem is going to be cost. People are struggling to pay rent/motgage payments/utilities/groceries/medical bills/insurance/etc. right now. Good luck convincing them they need to buy a new computer with for the new Windows when their current one on Windows 10 does all they need it to do.
These aren't people who know/understand/care anything about the importance of patching. They only see their tech savvy friends and contacts hating on Windows 11 for a myriad of reasons. Asking the majority of people out there to buy new PCs for Windows 12 would be a huge uphill battle. Microsoft has alienated most of the tech community at this point. Windows 12 isn't likely going to fix any of the core issues with Windows 11 anyway so it's not like Microsoft is likely to win back the tech community with it.
The damage has been done. Unless Windows 12 is a complete reverse course on what wrong with Windows over the last few decades, Microsoft isn't going to win back the tech community with it. The community going to keep using their smarts to keep building up alternative ways of getting things on other operating systems. That's where the wind has been blowing for a long time and Microsoft has yet to close that window (not to mention they're under a LOT of scrutiny of many governments around the world for anti-competitive practices).

Micro$oft blew it with its absurd hardware requirements for Windows 11, that prevented about 80% of the machines on the planet from ever running it! That's bad enough, but to do it during a global chip shortage when it clearly runs fine on much older hardware (like my 10+ year old i7-5820k) was just plain stupid or an under the table deal with PC hardware vendors. Heck, I can't even get the newer versions of Windows 11 even though my system automatically upgraded itself to Win-11 22H2 perfectly. Who wants Windows 12 if all it is is more attempts to use "A.I." to spy on us? So far I haven't seen anyone offering any A.I. feature that I'd cross the street for - and a whole lot of features that I wouldn't want anywhere near my machine - ever! So who'd want it? Not me and apparently not the rest of the world either! To fix this mess, Micro$oft needs to fire their UI team, go back to their intelligent Windows 10 "last version you'll need to buy" philosophy, and adopt the OpenShell UI across all their OS offerings. Otherwise we'll all be running Linux desktops within 5 years!

Win11 still unstable and kill my ssd at least 3 ssd since keep reinstall over 2 yrs of win11. I won't move back to win11 at least not before Oct 2025. Microsoft never listened to negative messages on insiders program even i am one of the insider.
