The novel in my opinion was more scary than the 2017 film yet I love how it captured the tone and essence of King's work however. The Projector scene for me was one of the scariest scenes and I loved how it was close in tone to "The Album" chapter of the book. Of course the opening scene where Georgie encounters Pennywise never fails to send a chill down the spine and it was amazing how the movie got the ominous atmosphere and building dread of that scene right.

Yeah I found Georgie’s death more sad then scary because of how he called out for bill in his final moments the one person he depended on looked up to counted on loved the most and even how happy the beginning was how we see how much Georgie loves his brother he was just playing with a paper boat and got his arm bitten off and that’s why I love that scene so much it makes us feel bad for Georgie and bill

One of the trailers and several TV spots gave away that jumpscare. It didn't get me. Wasn't expecting the radio noise though. Was expecting that cliche jumpscare sound effect they use now. But even the radio noise didn't do anything. But foreground jumpscares of someone running across the screen are so overused now in horror movies and for the past 10-15 years. So I probably would've seen it coming anyway. And just the way the camera angle was and that it kept sitting there was a hint that a foreground jumpscare was going to happen. Foreground jumpscares can still get me but they have to be REALLY random and in scenes that show no signs or hints of horror or that it's supposed to be a scary scene. Plus they can't just sit there. The camera needs to keep moving or changing angles or something (not talking shaky cam either when I say keep the camera moving) in order to get me with a jumpscare of someone running across the screen in the foreground.
The drain scene when Georgie just stays speaking to pennywise makes me angry. Just run already. Edit: holy cow thanks for all the likes this is the most I've ever gotten

I got so sad at the beginning when Georgie said I should go home or something like that and at the end when Georgie and his brother were talking and crying I started crying!
I caught the librarian watching Ben the first time I saw the movie, which was in theaters and on the Thursday night before its official opening day. I was actually looking around the theater/auditorium too to see if anyone else was noticing it. Didn't seem like anyone was reacting to it or anything. If you don't have a phobia of clowns, IT actually becomes an accidental comedy. My brother was crying and I was laughing for most of it.
True this movie wasn't scary at all to me.
I think most people just rode the bandwagon. The music cues gave too much clues as to the exact moment the jumpscares happen. And even then, it's mostly just Pennywise's goofy face. The movie's kinda boring, to be honest.
