APPEL VIDEO PLEASE 👍👍👍 I’ve been out of school for 5 years after my Lpn program with I end up dropped out due to health issues, I used fasfa during two semester only back then. Now I want to go back to school for an undergrad major and I didn’t qualified for pell grant , I was told because I made to much money on my return which was 31k. It’s a bit frustrating and devastating
With that income range, that doesn't sound right! I would contact the financial aid department and see if something wasn't submitted correctly. Also, here is our video on appealing! ruclips.net/video/qbarWuPOWJE/видео.html
Schools receive Pell grant money and apply it to tuition owed. So students will not receive the funds directly. The Pell grant is applied over the academic year, so the funds are not received all at once.
The Pell grant will not cover all of the college costs. Aid will not exceed the cost of attendance. If any money is refunded to the student, it is to cover college-related costs including room, board, books, travel, etc.
I’m in the process of renewing the FAFSA. Last year my son received full ride scholarship and grants for his first year, so now he has $12,000 extra money in his account after paying for everything. What can he do to maximum getting the grants again for the next year?
Hi Dr. Celine! I would recommend attending our free (live) training series that's going on this week. We will definitely share tons of tips on that! You can register here: thescholarshipsystem.com/dfdworkshop .. but hurry because part 1 was yesterday! You still can catch up. :)
I have applied for fasfa but it says I have 3grand of previous pell grant but how do I access it bc lately I’ve been having to pay out of pocket for college?
Your school is who would apply it to your account. You will need to review your school's financial aid award letter to see if they applied it. You may need to check with your school's financial aid office if there are issues.
VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION For 2 semesters I was awarded pell grant and I passed all my classes for those semesters. When I renewed my fafsa for the following year, I didn't get grant and my financial aid office told me that my past grant had being rescinded and I have to pay back the grant given to me. NEED HELP!!!
The FAFSA application asks for the family's financial situation and calculates the amount of Pell grant a student is eligible for. FAFSA just collects financial information and sends them to schools. FAFSA does not provide any money per se. Schools receive the FAFSA information and, based on the application, may provide additional financial aid based on their financial aid policies. The Pell grant is a federal grant and the amount shouldn't change from school to school.
Just incase this is still looked at I have a question. My daughter is working on getting back into school and is looking at the Pell grant. Is the EFC determined by home address? She lives with her boyfriend but still has our home address as her home of record and I was wondering if that would change the possible amount she would receive. Thank you so much for putting this information out there for everyone to access.
The EFC will be based on financial situation - is your daughter 24 or older? It has to be that, married, emancipated, or joined the military basically in order to exclude parent income.
We're covering more on this along with some other strategies in a free live training week coming up! You can register here - thescholarshipsystem.com/waitlist
This depends on the balance! Of course, if it's a high balance, that will raise the EFC (explained in video) which will lower the chances of the pell grant. There are lots of strategies around maximizing aid with 529s. I recommending registering here for when we hold that free training in November! thescholarshipsystem.com/debt-free-degree-lab-waitlist/
You don't need to have filed taxes to submit the FAFSA. You just need a record of all the income you do receive. The college may ask for a verification of non-filing but probably not if you indicate SSDI.
Financial aid awards are split evenly between all the terms you are enrolled. Seems like your college is on the quarter system or something similar, because if you multiply $1624 x 3 it comes out to $4872 which is close to $5K.
My daughters was awarded $6,000 for the Pell Grant, but they have split it up $2,000 a semester including the summer semester. Problem is she is not going to summer semester. The school says she is out that money and they cannot apply it to the spring and fall semester. Is that true?
Schools do apply financial aid for each academic period (quarters or semester). For whatever reason, the school thought your daughter would be attending summer school. You will need to clarify this with the school's financial aid office.
@@TheScholarshipSystem I contacted my daughter's school's financial aid office. I even talked to a supervisor. They told me the Pell Grant is always spread out over all three semesters. Not sure what is going on.
I have a question and I hope you can respond whenever you can or see this comment. But I'm someone who plans on going back to an undergraduate degree program at Lindenwood University as an online student. I'm in the middle of paying off money to get my official transcripts transferred from a previous uni I went to, but never finished. Would I be able to apply for a Pell Grant despite never using one prior, not having an undergraduate degree if my Financial Aid happens to run out? I'm also from a low income household.
It depends. Most scholarships and grants have some sort of stipulations or guidelines on what they can be used for. Your financial aid office will be able to pull up your rewards and tell you of any limitations.
Hi, I have 2 kids. One is in 1st year and 1 in 12 grade. My account shows we received over $24k. Is that for 2 students or just the one that in 1st year? Thanks
A financial aid award letter would show the amount for one student for the next academic year. Each student will get their own financial aid award letter. A new letter will be sent every year of school.
If you update your schools in your FAFSA application, your new school should receive your pell grant information and should be able to apply it to your account. Follow up with your new school's financial aid office to ensure they have your FAFSA information...since that is how they know if you are eligible for the pell grant.

What if I got accepted but it’s too much money for the certification that I want what should be my next steps to avoid any debt? It’s making me nervous to even start.
What is the difference between CARES Act Grant and Pell Grant? After filling out fasfa forms it said I was eligible for the Pell Grant but under financial aid in my student account it says that my school is offering me CARES Act Grant.
The CARES Act is emergency funding provided for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student's cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care). It's not considered financial aid and typically there isn't an application but is automatically awarded to eligible students from schools that opted into the program, based on their EFC. It should be separate from the Pell grant.
@@TheScholarshipSystem Thank you so much for the reply and the insight, very much appreciated! I felt stupid for asking this question haha, thanks again and thank you for the valuable information in both your response and your video! (:
We figure out daughter will not get any from the government because parents make over 100K... and are still paying their own student loans 20 years later.
I applied, my girlfriend applied… we were both dependents of our family at the time. Neither of us got a single dollar of this money. We were both offered a 5,500 loan… that’s it. I know multiple people that made more money than my family and they still got pel grants. I did everything right… why…
Investments and other assets are also taken into account. Parent and student amounts are weighted differently. It is hard to compare to another family without knowing the other details. Income is only one factor in determining financial aid.
Do you plan on submitting FAFSA in order to apply for the Pell Grant? Also, comment below if you want that appeal video!
I submitted my Fafsa what’s next?
We haven't done fafsa yet but we are going to when we get moved out of here

I got the pell grant and my school say it's not for me it's for my school
I got a receipt for 13k that they dispersed 3600 to my Fasa account online but I haven't received it yet

FAFSA applied for would like to apply for Pell Grant as well
The video title is misleading. FAFSA is the application for the Pell Grant. There is no separate app.

So let's say the Pell grant is less then the school cost do you get that money left over or does the government get that back

Yes!
My Parent has a buisness, they have two dofferent income, Should my Parent report the earn income from their buisnesses too?
All business income is reported on the federal income tax return. That information will be automatically imported into FAFSA.

Will it apply to schooling like AAPC ?
Generally if it is an accredited school, they accept the FAFSA. The best course of action would be to visit the financial aid office at AAPC.
How is the Pell Grant distributed? I received $5,000 and the disbursed amount says $1,624 what is that mean?
