Time travel, dancing chickens, Titanic fails and eventual success. What more can one cram into a video? (oh yeah, watermelon smoothies)

Mate, so good, especially seeing how great the final product is! In addition to appreciating your skill and imagination with these things you make, I also appreciate the smattering of humour and especially like how you include problems and the thought process of working through them. As someone who hamfists his way from one crafting debacle to another and having to bodgy my way out of it, I find that especially useful. Thanks very much
Well said. Yup 😆
I’m a 66 YO fart who used to do a lot of welding…producing everything from SS vibratory parts feeders to multi-million dollar Lithium Ion battery manufacturing systems.
Now, in retirement, I want to get back to welding again…as I truly enjoyed it. Blessings y’all.
Watched both. Very interesting and entertaining as well. Nice set of tools and nice craftsmen-ship! Very nice internal setup to build it into a mass rocket stove heater! Thanks for taking the time and effort to build and record the entire process.
FATE! My son-in-law, a doctor, is interested in the outdoors/survival of his family and discussing fabricating stoves for camping and such and I was telling him of my sheet metal tooling and our capabilities and your video demonstrates every tool I use and you have produced a great video, thanks
Thats cool, having equipment that makes your work quicker... It's like you've made the airflow into a "J". Keep up the great work. The vortex is a thing of beauty!!
This is a great video. Awesome looking stove. Aside from the amazing craftsmanship I also learned some extremely valuable tips such as "Lift with your back" and "Don't wash your hands."
It was great to see your thinking process throughout your issues and how you worked through them. Thanks for including that even though it made the video a little longer. It makes you more believable when you allow us to see that you are, in fact, human. Your final product was both great engineering and quality craftsmanship. It is a shame that you have to paint over such beautiful welding. Truly appreciate your tenacity.
Sweet stove. I've fabricated a few Smokers, a few fire places then moved onto fabricating efficient wood burning shop stove heaters. I learned early on the benefit to having secondary burning, and dialing in airflow to not only the secondary burners, but to primary air intake. Having a flu dampener has helped too. I'd love to make a stainless stove with a window someday. I guess a Kimberly stove clone with auxiliary functions for water heating, cooking, and etc. You did a great job so far, keep the vids coming if you can. I recently subbed.
Dude, i found your channel the other day and subscribed in the hope of a part 2... Thank you very much!!!
VERY IMPRESSIVE build! High quality craftsmanship! You can tell you take pride in what you do. And it shows I just wish more thank you for the video. Very informative also
I learn a lot - not just about rocket stoves but also tool use etc. Enjoyable videos. I like your commentary as well. Bravo, keep it up!
You did a great job. Thanks for showing the challenges you faced, makes everyone more intelligent. Good video editing too.
I enjoyed the effort and journey you took us on while you experimented with this project.
Very nice. It took me only about an hour and a half to watch you create and spin for months. Great job.
Felicitari !
Foarte furumoasa lucrare si bine explicat. Aveti un atelier foarte bine dotat. Sunteti un om deosebit.
Excellent, True Aussie Excellence, thank you for such an entertaining and honest video.
Wow, just found your vids and have now subscribed. Thanks to the dancing chicken for a few chuckles.
What a balancing act to go through to get where you ended up. Amazing heat output in the end. Love the window. It would be especially interesting to see how adjusting the various air inlets affects the system.
Man you have so many tools ! I'm jalous ! Very cool to see your project , inspired me !
Amazing. Just amazing. I need to watch both parts a couple more times . You are awesome as an idealist. Greetings from south of the equator. way south.
Actually I LOVED watching both videos.
You come across as being a down to earth kinda guy. You not only admit your mistakes but also come up with important fixes that have worked out well.
Enjoyed the chicken dance and when you said "this looks like the dog's breakfast". Made me chuckle.
I look forward to the next project. Be safe and have fun learning!
What a work of art. Just one more thing I will never be able to make. Thanks for the amazing job!!
You are welcome! Thank you for sharing! It was easy to hang out, because it almost felt like being in the garage right next to you. And wow... the stove is making some great progress. Have to say as much as I love cutting, bending and welding steel - the dancing chicken was my favorite part of the video. A good laugh is always helpful, especially when russian jets are dropping bombs to close for comfort. What a great video! )))
Love the video, nice to have you back. Awesome to see that TOT techniques transfer to metric.
Brother... I just love your content along with your brilliant personality. Great job.
i really enjoyed watching you build this. It is a project that I wanted to develop for some time. My fabrication skills are not where yours are @.
I like the way you have done these videos. elements of your life & humor come in & out briefly. I am suffering from a little guillotine & press envy, nothing a little time traveling would not fix.
I had an anolog porto mig for almost 25 years, I was sad the day she died & I was told by the welder tech that she could not be saved. I had a close connection with her, that is not possible with modern woman.
Last year I bought a razor too, still getting to know her, but I am really pleased with how she goes, started my 1st stainless mig project late last year , starting my 1st mig aluminum project in the next few weeks, buying the tig torch & bits soonish, keen to start learning me to tig.
I love the non symmetrical form of your finished prototype, that you let the holes remain on the base plate. Utilitarian but simple & elegant.
Amazing step-by-step sequence of the build. The mistakes are as important as the successes. This series is so important that I downloaded these videos.
Wow thanks mate 👍
@@LittleAussieRockets Dude, your videos are so good, I am ready to reach into my Paypal account and dish out some gifts.
Thanks, and we in the West Islands really enjoy your clips. And I hope we can see more of your wonderful clips.
Excellent. Concept, testing, development, explanation, and video, well done. Thank you.
I am very impressed Sir. I need to check out your whole channel.
Awesome build run! Thanks for taking the time through the rocket stove build. I would love to see a rocket stove married to a biochar retort to produce biochar for garden soil amendment. A biochar retort could be added as a round tin to the chimney riser end base. So instead of just air, you're adding syngas from wood back in.
He could also make activated charcoal with the heat he's getting.
The coriolis effect (swirl due to gravity) is trivial; the geometry of the stove and baffling will determine which way the vortex swirls. Great video, I got a lot of fantastic tips on welding!
Aussie Genius.... dreaming only what it would be like to own one of Little Aussie's heaters, stoves, etc., and finally have functional art in my home.
great video, and I see the chicken has learnt some new moves over the last 4 months. Nice.
The first video I watched I knew we had an Aussie TOT! I love it, keep up the great work!!
At first I was thinking your video was going to suck, was I mistaken!!!!your quality of work is top workman like quality something that in 100 years will be looked upon and appreciated.there’s nothing more satisfying than watching intelligence and application of theory at work while crafting a quality product that is useful and well developed. Thanks .I liked the chicken I can’t lie
Awesome project! Very impressive work. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome build and it's very nice to learn by your mistakes. Even better, to figure what is wrong and fix it. Excellent video.
I REALLY like your tripod, weighted grounding jig for your welding table. Genius. Blessings.
Always thought a glass window would be badass wondered why no one did it.... Awesome build!!
No judgement here ... especially when you make Aussie jokes ... just pure laughter.
I like the chicken dance.
You do good work. I've learned so much.
You would make an excellent teacher
Really really enjoyed this, and especially the humor, thanks!
Thanks mate
Really enjoyable and informative - you are in a good place, I am happy for you.
I have thought secondary air would have the capacity to add more oxygen up past the initial burn...thanks, your time has save me time when I get to build one...so helpful!
Great build with excellent craftsmanship. Nice video production also. So many videos on here are equivalent to watching grass grow. Longer videos benefit greatly from good production and yours has it. Look forward to watching more. In the immortal words of Mr. Spock, live long and prosper......
🖖
I absolutely loved this journey!!!
wow!! love watching the skill !! would give my left ...! too have half that skill !! and as for talking or not ! just be you and fun !! love it Aussie !! greetings from SA, man in shed !
Glad your back. I have been looking forward to this video for a while. Also I am jealous as all get out of your metal tools and glad your job is able to allow you to get them.
as in your wife allows you to have them because its related to your job?
Dude, I’m a yank and totally enjoy your work! I work with my hands, back and mind too, but in maintenance and rehab of elite athletes and the aged. Function is it. Fabrication involves art, science and skill. You have connected them. Your time invested and end product are the cats meow!!! Functional and no BS.
Stephen your tenacity has payed off. Your mind works in an amazing way. Your work place is so lucky to gain your mind as a mature age apprentice, congratulations.
Love the vid mate, was like meditation.
Skills that man👌👍
I love your sheetmetal work. It's so calming.
Great video. good to see you back mate.
Love the Aussie humour :)
Yes Please a video on pattern development!
P.S Congrats on the apprenticeship, onya!!
Seems sensible that the aerodynamics in a stove would play a much bigger role in the vortex direction than the coriolis force.
P.S. Love the videos. You're a legend!
i took a course in arson investigation and fire produces very strange but understandable burn patterns depending on a thousand things....good observation
I'm a huge fan, I still wish we lived nearby. Epic colabs and BBQs would be the norm.
Great news on the appyship. And the coolness of kit in the shed/garage never seems to end...
I couldn't understand what he said there. Is it an apprenticeship, to become a journeyman? And what does "fitting and turning" do exactly?
No offense, just interested in understanding how Australia makes skilled trade workers. As a journeyman Mold Maker, with plenty of Tool and Die instruction and experience, they are often alike and often require the same tasks and knowledge
I'm going to guess a "Fitter and Turner" would be close to our Pipefitter designation, but that's usually specialized in industrial and heavy commercial applications.
Just curious, thanks✌
@@BearBig70 As an Aussie, but not a fitter n turner, easiest description would be a "machinist" Lathe, Mill, etc operator
To us a Journeyman, would be a bloke going on holidays,
You going on a journey mate ?
Guess we would use term Tradesmen instead
Can I assume a Mold Maker is the same as here, your in a metal foundry ?
Pipe fitter as you say is specialised heavy industry or just a Plumbers job
Incredible video production. Thanks for sharing this with all of the different segments and pieces spliced together. I enjoy your chicken and knife work cutting the hinge tubes. Have you considered adding larger, pneumatic wheels to your equipment table for movement between shop locations? In addition to the scientific information from building this stove, where will you be using this unit? I trust that you are creating a journal documenting your findings. Perhaps you could publish a Tips & Tricks notebook for sale in addition to your rocket stoves.
Trusting that you and your family will remain safe during the pandemic as it continues to evolve. Wishing you Peace, health and happiness.
A great video as usual. I have missed them but once I saw the old three legged barbell come back into play I knew things were getting back to normal at last. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@LittleAussieRockets It was far more involved than I would ever get into but a pleasure to watch. I hope you and yours are all good after the last few months.
Rockets do take a lot of air to run efficiently... as you found out.
Mine has an insulated firebrick burn tunnel and riser... With pellets, I've gotten the exterior a bit over 1000° F. But I have unlimited firewood... only gets up to 750, 800.... I'm good.
Next build will be a vortex.
Great job... wonderful welding, and workshop.
Nice piece of work! There is always a leaarning process and it's good that you analyse what could be done better in order to improve the efficiency. Thank you for making this video! (I saw the dancing chicken ...) ;-)
Learned, enjoyed, entertained, Killed an hour… what else can I say. Keep doing it.
"12 steps to the drill press, that was just a journey too far for me at the time!" lol...Love the humour you sneak in from time to time :)
Cool project!
Love the chicken!
Ah, the long awaited Part 2!
Hey man, you sort your family and your future at work out first, we will all wait for ya! There is many a guy out there that didn’t get those priorities right and ended up sat here watching you with a house full of emptiness! We will just wait for that bell to ring and give you our attention. Free ya mind and build something now!
You’re a good man. Thank you for posting. Regards Chris (UK)
Thanks for hanging in there to make it work. That's why it's called 'theories'. Try it and find out. Did some welding in my younger days, and can still manage a reasonable bead still. Great skill for anyone to learn.
The chicken kind of stole the show! Nice fabrication work, enjoyed watching this.
Keep it up mate! you are on the way to making the worlds best rocket heater. one day I will buy one off of you!
Your TIG welds are nice. I prefer MIG welds, personally-- not for structural reasons, but you can get really smooth beads.
The build looks great. It's a pleasure to see these ideas come together.
That glass window you added is a very nice touch. The orange and red of flames like that is among my favourite colours. I didn't know a stove could get hot enough to burn even the soot and ash without insulation. Thanks for making this video. Though having a stove that reaches over 400 degrees centigrade seems like a bit of a safety hazard.
Definitely awesome
Great to see ya back!
Great video! And hilarious too, ive just started delving into rocket stove and I’m watching all your videos. Ive also just copied your helping hand tool too, i think its amazing. Thanks loads!
Wow another great build
Love it! Can't wait for part three.
Hey Mate, must say that you have the best videos relating to Rocket Stoves! Camera work,Audio and explanation 👍
Thanks mate ☺️
The Vortex Rocket Stove is brilliant, best I've seen yet... but the Moon-Walking Chicken got you a new subscriber. lol.
Great video. Just keep doing what you do. Love it.
Thanks mate
I just love the long videos!
Pretty slick idea with the pellets and a pretty slick welder especially being a self taught and good luck on your apprenticeship program,
I enjoyed watching. Have a good one 👍🏼
Thanks mate 👍
Persistence and patience pays off it looks good
you are good men.beautiful video editing. nice work.thanks!
so much information in these videos great stuff man
Interesting build. Thanks for the share!
My favorite part was the dancing chicken! You could make millions off her.
This series has me really wanting to buy a welder. I have some modifications I'd like to make to that design to increase the air draw and to recirculate the exhaust - like a DIY afterburner type-thing. Great video.
Fitter 'n Turner by Trade......
Engineer hobbyist at home! LOL
(love the '80's musik back drop)... even that chicken seems to be dancing.;)
Cheers!
Mick
In South Africa we also have rocket stoves, but this is absolutely next level!! Well done!! 🇿🇦 cheers from the tip of Africa!
All you need now is tubing around the chimney and have hot water on hand. A true craftsman.
" If you saw what the result was i think you would have all unsubscribed "... had me subscribe.
Nice balance between the build content and humour (and dancing chicken).
Love all the new tools!
Left handed vortex? Haha. Congratulations on your apprenticeship.
Very interested in the pattern development that you spoke about.
Great vid by the way..got a cool workshop too
Most videos have a cat supervising. You have a chook. Love it.
I love that you took the time to make the chicken walk backwards
nice design, good to go through it with you.
Great work and informative video👍
lol i just had a moment, im a metal fabricator and a construction artist for the last 20 plus years,, and whi;le doing construction all those years, we've always said "a little bit of caulk n paint make a carpenter what he ain't" lol, you learned me something today
I came for the rocket stove, stayed for the dancing chicken.
I certainly appreciated there moon walk
11:15 I stayed because this man is apparently doing something right
