And also only some stupid idiots hates about those religions, but in many countries non Muslims are pretty safe, example Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Turkey and so on. Well, the general population decreased, but on the other hand the minorities - Gypsies and Turks decreased a lot faster - most of them went to join their Muslim brothers in Western Europe, one of the few benefits we had from the EU. On the other hand the immigrants here are mainly Orthodox Christians from Russia, Ukraine, Macedonia, Moldova - so we may be not so wealthy but we are definitely not Babylon like some of our big EU friends. The main problem is that some of the Gypsies are very poor and cannot afford to buy tickets for Germany, the government has to do something to help them

As I live in Bulgaria, let me tell you about exactly what the situation is in Bulgaria and why, as this video is too propagandish for my taste. Bulgaria has no problem with Muslims. As a matter of fact, there are MORE mosques in Bulgaria, then Christian churches... let that sink in, on how a country that hates muslims will allow that to happen? We have cities which are ONLY made up of "Pomatzi". Pomatzi by the way are bulgarian muslims, who became muslim when we were under turkish rule. What was missed in that video is that whoever didn't want to accept the Muslim religion was slaughtered, the money his family owed the "vizir" was doubled, or his children were taken away... And that was the case for over 500 years. That is PART OF HISTORY it is even called - "the blood tax" in History books. Go read about the slaughtering in Batak, and how many Bulgarians died trying to hide in a church. Bulgarians, who didn't want to become Muslim. So some Bulgarians still have an innate grudge against Turks, not against Muslims, and I am not sure you can blame them... I personally think that you need to judge a person by his own accord, and not by a member of a group, that doesn't mean I don't understand this portion of people in Bulgaria.
Okey so that side of the story now out of the way, what is the current situation in Bulgaria? I have 4 Muslim friends in my city and none of them have I seen to have been ridiculed for being muslim. Yes there have been comments back and forth before getting in a fight, surely, but the fights havn't been about them being muslim, but about ego-scratching, or over girls. Currently, our world powerlifting champion is Muslim, one of our olympic boxers is Muslim, our olympic gold medalist in wrestling - she is muslim, one of our highest ranked kickboxing champions is Muslim, one of our most famous singers oh, and so is the leader of one of the biggest political parties in Bulgaria and countless other public figures! Not only that, but on almost EVERY bus stop we have a DONNER KEBAP stand where, the makers of the DONNER are muslims and we call them "captain", there are multiple Nargile (Shisha) Bars etc. etc. I am stating that because if we HATED muslim culture so much, we wouldn't want these muslim cultural places in our country would we?
The current situation is, that this political muslim party - DPS - is trying to create a grudge between Bulgarians and Muslims in Bulgaria, because they want every muslim to be voting for them! This is why you see only muslims being interviewed for this video. This EXACT script has been taught to muslims in Bulgaria and is all done for power and control, by the muslim party, which is subsidies by the Turkish government. This works because - when you tell muslims that every other party and every non-muslim bulgarian is against you, and they are your protectors and saviors, you will vote for them! Not only that, but even if you want to vote for someone else, peer-pressure from the fellow muslims in your community, will make you scared to do so!
Further then that, the muslim party is trying to interfere with the Bulgarian government decision making in a disgusting way. Three months ago, they tried to make the Bulgarian government to excuse a 7 BILLION euro debt of the Muslim Society, accumulated as unpaid taxes from Mosques, to the government. This is bad, because three years ago 20 Bulgarian hospitals closed, because of a debt of a much smaller size, which was not excused by the government! The people in Bulgaria didn't allow that, as our Christian Churches are not exempt from paying taxes either.... so we want it to be equall!
I cannot speak about how it was during the communist rule in Bulgaria, but back then, we were all under awful influence and propaganda (well my parents, not me). After that we had a transitional period, where our values and morals were very confused between the east and the west, and that is when what has happened - happened with the girl in the video. But claiming there is an anti-muslim feeling RIGHT NOW in Bulgaria, by Christian's doing is wrong! There is only propaganda fed by the Muslim party, which creates tensions, and members of that party are shown in the video, which is discusting to see.....
Can you find Muslim haters in Bulgaria - SURE... like you can find in England, in the USA etc. etc. That doesn't mean as a society we work towards that, or we opperate like that... Stop believing this propagandish left-wing media trying to click-bait you and create a story out of hatred and fear. They are part of the problem they are "trying to fight". You are not helping anyone, just capitalizing on a topic you know nothing about...

Btw pomatzi is not exactly that. I am pomakinya. I grew up in mixed town and even the Muslims don’t speak Turkish. I’m Christian and am still pomakinya. Also pomatsi comes from помъча. Cause on that places they were more killed and terrorised than mid Bulgaria etc.

As a Turkish Bulgarian living in kurdzhali I have to say no normal Turks or Pomaks(muslim ethnic Bulgarians) wear the hijab in Bulgaria(some grandmas wear a head scraf like every slavic country but not hijab or other islamic dress). Only islamist radicals wear it as a political symbol or to promote Arabic culture or something. btw there is no muslim identity in Bulgaria like western european countries. there is Bulgarian, Turkish and Romani identity but everyone accepts being a Bulgarian citizen. They were killed because they don t want to convert to islam and change their name. They were many time in history that villages were burn down and thousands of bulgarians were killed by the Otoman empire because they don t want to convert to Islam. Here is an example, in 1876 were killed around 200 people in Btatak because they don t wanted to covert to Islam. Check your facts!

There is not that much discrimination against Muslims in Bulgaria and as a Muslim myself, I was actually impressed to see that they've started renovating some of the old Turkish mosques and bits of the Ottoman legacy. One of the best Turkish pastries I've visited, better even than those in Istanbul, is a small Turkish pastry in Plovdiv right next to the Dzhumaya mosque. What makes it better? Well they serve the coffee with quince compot. Bulgaria has actually become a civilized country due to opening up after the fall of socialism in Eastern Europe.

In fact, there’s a lot of black pages that are not being addressed when it comes to the “revival” process. I spoke to some Bulgarian Turks last summer about it and for example, they said that there were plenty of Bulgarian-Turkish youth committees who were against the Zhivkov regime. From there they were investigated and secretly arrested because of the political scare that democracy might finally be instated. So what we are fed and what it was are two very distinctive points. Moreover, the Russian political infiltration should not be underestimated, just look at our neighbouring countries that allowed these politics to dominate and what they’ve done to their Muslim population, especially Serbia. It could have been much uglier and bloodier and I’m glad that wasn’t the case with us. Also Communism wasn’t generally nice to the overall population. My mom, my dad and brother also had their names changed despite not being Muslim and they reasoned it with “these names are not Bulgarian enough”. In my eyes, these half a million Turks will always have a home here.
