Laws That Discriminate Against Disability

- I'm uploading this video because it covers a topic that I believe people need to be educated about. Education is the key to change.
It is expected of a husband or wife to care for their spouse. However, if they choose to be the personal caregiver for a spouse with a significant disability, this will demand many more hours of care than for an able-bodied spouse.
Unfortunately in some States, the number of hours that a person can be paid for providing personal care services for a qualifying individual will automatically be reduced if they are the spouse of the recipient. Worse yet, in the majority of the States a spouse cannot be paid for providing personal care services for their husband or wife.
This is discrimination in the form of federal regulation.
i feel you bro. I'm somewhere in the same situation. You have an amazing gf.

It's time to expose the legislation and regulation that has discriminated against us for decades.
I feel the same way. My wife who I can depend on 24/7, who never miss a day of work should get paid not an adie.
When I was injured in 1994, we were given two options. Either my wife would have to get a job with a highschool diploma and very little work experience to pay someone to care for me, or my wife would be my caregiver and we would have to live on my SSDI and welfare.
Which would you choose and why?
@@howiroll740 I choose the spouse to be the main caregiver & get paid.
@@Quad12Walk The problem is that option (a paid spouse caregiver) only exists in a few States that have requested exemption from the Federal guidelines. We are being discriminated against at the Federal level of legislation in the year 2022.
