- Playwright Neil Simon was born on July 4, 1927 and lived most of his life in New York. According to Wikipedia, he has received more Oscar and Tony nominations than any other writer. Neil Simon began writing comedy scripts for radio and early television, including Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows. His plays include Come Blow Your Horn, Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Plaza Suite, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues, Broadway Bound, The Goodbye Girl, The Sunshine Boys, Jake's Women, and Lost in Yonkers. Neil Simon was interviewed by Mike Wood on January 30, 1997 at his home in Beverly Hills, California. The interview segments are courtesy of the William Inge Center for the Arts in Independence, Kansas.

Thanks so much for sharing! Neil Simon writes longhand? So do I!...Neil Simon uses college ruled notebooks? Me too!...Neil Simon is a genius! So am...well, two outta three ain't bad:)

All my inspirations jump track if I attempt to type .... Yes I do like computer for notes. ... but I have to say that I totally agree with him and also getting a big kick outta his description of the college rule notebooks cuz that is def. my favorite too. I can hook ya up Neil. Its not just a coincidence that many empaths, writers, artist of all kinds prefer the college rule... but I have never thought of why I prefer this until I listened to this quickie... Ok so it IS because it is similar to writing on sheet music... and most of the longhand I have ever done or seen has a tempo, a rhythm and yeah, a beat also. Longhand on college rule can relate unwritten emotions. I often think it would be cool to read a whole book that is written in longhand. I always draw borders while Im writing. Thanks for this post. Really very special to me and others here. so every one chant.... I also write on notebooks..but..the notebooks are not collage rule..like the ones that Mr.Simon uses.
