I think Zverev was actually incredible. He really is close to his best now, at least in that much. That's why it had two tie breakers and went to 7-5 in the third. His serving and forehand were really awesome. Happy to see him back from injury.

The way Sinner played today, you'll need to be superhuman to defeat him. Even with a big hitter like Rune, Wawrinka was able to dictate points. Today, he was blasted out of the courts. Absolutely destroyed Stan the man.
Just goes to show that tennis is very much about match-up's. Sinners kryptonite would be someone with a lot of variety like Tsitsipas or Alcaraz. Medvedev will use his high tennis IQ and find a way to win. Or, you have to be someone named Novak Djokovic.

    • @Zeus-ei1ik

Absolutely. Can't agree more. Variety, change of pace, and disguise are the way to go with Sinner. No one on tour hits flatter and harder off both flanks than Sinner, so it's impossible to outhit him.

I love Sinner as a personality but his tennis is one dimensional, like a male version of WTA. He has added a powerful serve and the dropshot to his gamma but still I'm afraid he won't overcome more natural talents like Alcaraz or Medvedev, who are mentally powerful too and can adapt their game, Alcaraz offensively, Medvedev defensively. A player like Medvedev has the ability to figure out how to neutralize the cannonball ground strokes of Sinner. And then Sinner will have to adapt, by playing softer and with more angle, and I don't think he has the versatility to do that.

Bruh..watching tennis in 2023 like...how are they all so good? Holy crap lol. Back in my day we tried to take the return early but these guys are standing all the way at the back of the court as far back as they can go. How much strength and endurance you have to have to keep hitting big shots from that far back...just unreal. That and watching Jannik Sinner every damn shot was almost a winner, just insane.

As a decent club level player myself, I'll be petrified to play someone who hits the ball as hard as Sinner, that too off both flanks. And with unflinching accuracy, too. Will be lucky to get a couple of points through unforced errors.
Tsitsipas played out of his skin to beat Jannik at the AO semis. Then Djokovic destroyed Tsitsipas in the finals. Just goes to show the level of mastery that Novak has achieved. It's an absolute travesty that they are not allowing him to compete.
