Everyone makes fun of Daigo for being a bad leader, but with the amount of horrible crap he has to deal with, I’d say he was screwed from the beginning.

@@andybonkerson I mean if you think about literally every pillar of Tojo died in their respective games and Daigo alone kept everything under control and he tried to do so alone, never asked for Kiryu's help. He actually made effort so that he can live his peaceful life while he's dealing with constant plots, backstabbings, power struggles, financial issues and so on. And if he was that weak he couldn't have united people. He doesn't have much feats but he was able to put a hurt on Ryuji, has shown excellent marksman skills and he's smart enough to figure out people's plots by himself. Until the plot gets so fucked that Daigo misses the mark, because he doesn't expect the writing to be that bad.
It's so weird considering Daigo is only 8 years younger than him. I get the mentor thing Kiryu has for Daigo but it's a bit weird to call him his son lmao
I feel Daigo's the RGG character who needs a hug the most. RGG just hates the poor guy. I feel like fans don't give him enough slack despite the fact that he basically has to do the impossible task of running a CRIMINAL organization in a somewhat morale way. I hope he one day gets his own game that's just a straight up railshooter.
Not only that, Daigo was leading what is basically a dead clan: K0: The dojima family lost alot of it’s power, they made multiple enemies and sour their relationship with the Omi Alliance K1: Nishiki probably shot Sera in the head, Kazama got blown up, Shimano got shot… _which might have benefited them in the long run actual-_ 10 billion yen got blown up along with Nishiki K2: Terada was killing the Tojo clan inside, Majima quited, Ryuji was a dumbass and caused problems to both clans, the Jingweon was hauling ass, Shindo killed a bunch of leaders and people trying to _BANG DAIGO’S MOM,_ so the people working for him got killed as well _Honestly?_ If the Tojo wasn’t filled with rats upon mice and snakes and vipers, Daigo’s track record isn’t as bad as people suggest
I don't know about the fans. We like loling around memes but I haven't met yet anyone blind enough to not see Kiryu as plot driven hypocrite. At least since the shitshow in IW
I love the genuine sadness when he mentions Mine dying, that really was one of his closest friends and allies. I'm convinced the only reason that Mine died was because if he didn't he would've handled every problem in the other games before they even got close to being out of hand.
...It is pretty insane that Kiryu placing Daigo as Chairman, after unintentionally fucking it up with choosing Terada, really mirrors what Kazama did to Nishiki setting up in a position of power they had potential to lead yet their inexperience led to problems with their mentor just not doing anything to help. At least Kiryu cared enough to finally step in before Daigo really went off the deep end but it really takes a while to dawn on him that he definitely had responsibility for it near the end. And still, Daigo still soldier on despite being seen as a weak leader of an already volatile sinking ship filled with explosive barrels. Dude kept proving his harshest critics it's still dumb to look down on him and his group when he just pulls out a gun and adds more to his body count. Props to Majima and Saejima for being with him too, as they too are dealing with Tojo BS that Kiryu didn't help to stamp out along with Daigo. I love Kiryu but it's nice that he acknowledged while he truly respected and sees Daigo as a leader, he...Really should've done more than have just faith in Daigo alone.
I never got why kiryu appointed terada instead of kashiwagi. why not kashiwagi? He was literally not that bad of a role for it and someone kiryu could’ve definitely trusted

And in that moment, Terada is someone that Kazama respected and saw as an equal. Kashiwagi is loyal to Kazama but he's nowhere near Kazama and on top of that, Kashiwagi did prefer to work in the background rather than be the face of it. Kiryu being Kiryu, of course picked his dad's best friend that literally helped saved his life, without any further consideration.
Starting to realize holding what's literally the biggest crime organization to someone that isn't even seasoned in the business might have flown over a lot people's heads.
Add the fact that Terada was working with the mafia that wanted to bring down the Tojo, the war with the Go-Ryu clan, and the Tamashiro Family doing their own thing behind the Tojo's back, and yeah, the guy had it rough. No wonder he carries a cutscene gun with him all the time.
I love Kiryu but whenever has to deal with complicated moral questions it really does feel like he’s right because he’s the Main Character and for no other reason.

I like to think that Y4's fight was more of a test for Daigo's mental strength as Kiryu wanted to help him get ready for the future. Which proves to help in 5 because holy moly does Daigo pull some moves.
It took me 4 games to realize that the series' writing feels schizophrenic. The individual parts feel like they belong in something else, and the conclusion is always reached by a shirtless fist fight.
The thing is anyone who is anyone in Tojo, don't want to lead them. And those who could, died very quickly. Daigo has been done no favors as Kiryu was having an early retirement somehow in Okinawa. Seriously, Tojo should've been dead after the whole Yukio Terada thing. The fact that an appointed chairman can screw over the clan in the first place, is just the final nail in the coffin. Not even Daigo could fix it. When he did his speech, Kiryu was right there with him. Everyone must've thought that this kid and Dragon of Dojima himself would rebuild the clan together only for Kiryu to promptly leaves the entire problem to Daigo.
Honorable mention; Yakuza 5 made it worse even the Dead Souls guy Azumi was 'offed' in Nagoya. No way Tojo-kai gonna recover after that. And ofc Daigo would also lose to his schoolmate. 😟
No joke. I haven't seen much people point it out, since they're busy antagonizing Daigo for being the worst leader due to the whole Majima thing and money issues. However, I beg to differ. Daigo was handed down the Tojo Clan in shambles...and who's fault is that? Terada, who was appointed by Kiryu. Kiryu even admitted back in Kiwami 2 that yes, he fucked it all up. My issue is when he proceeds to beat the shit out of Daigo, who kept saying he DIDN'T want to be involved because, as he stated, the Tojo clan ain't worth risking his ass. Daigo was handed such a shitty set of cards that he's trying his best to work with. But OF COURSE it's going to look bad. Have a bad set of cards, and you'll play a bad game. Easy as that. But I really do sympathize for Daigo, especially after everytime Kiryu beats him. I'm actually surprised Daigo hasn't snapped at Kiryu, but it's most likely the respect he has for Kiryu. Otherwise, if I were him, I'd be emotionally distraught because essentially this man basically fucked me over the moment I'm chairman
I mean the fact Daigo never hinted to have any lovers, wife or child in the 10+ years he being the Tojo head really telling how unstable the Tojo are before and during his tenure that it force Daigo to work basically 24/7 for that goddamn Yakuza clan
Hamasaki had a small crew and was working with the Triads to keep Yokohama being a foot hold, which those plans for an underground casino wasn't going to happen, Shimano had Shintaro die shortly before giving Kiryu two final moments as he had breath still coming, then Shimano was shot by Tereda, who was Fifth Chairman to the Tojo Clan as Kiryu was out, but still the Fouth Chairman, Dojima got what was coming if it was either Nishiki or Kiryu to save Yumi, not going to details to Sera's death, Shindo caused quite a sundering for Dojima's wife, then killed by Daigo, to which Kiryu witnessed after Shindo was beaten badly, Kashiwagi Gunned down by Black Monday posing as CIA or CIA was going to gun him down anyways, yet lives, Mine was the only Upstart Yakuza that kept the money flowing, and Majima was arrested, for a hundred billion, which could be generated more with the Kamurocho Hills and Purgatory being the baggage in income. Keeping the clan, with most of the old guard is down to just Majima. Oh and excluding Shibata and Kanda. No need for worries for them. So yeah. Daigo is still not going to recover afterwards.
Daigo doesn't call Kiryu, Kiryu-san. 0 out of 10, bad video. Truthfully though, the format works pretty well for the series. And there's a lot of potential for future videos as RGG don't really care about plot holes or logic in the face of cool moments.
