      “In the early days of the 6.4L’s production run, no one knew how well this sequential turbocharged mill would respond to power adders, nor how durable it would be at elevated horsepower and torque levels. But once enthusiasts discovered how far you could push them, high horsepower builds sprang up everywhere. To this day, the bottom end on the 6.4L continues to impress us with its ability to handle four-digit horsepower. We’ve seen a slew of ‘08-’10 Fords make north of 900-rwhp on the factory rotating assembly. We’ve also witnessed our fair share of trucks churn out well over 1,000-rwhp, run 10s in the quarter-mile, and live to fight another day.”

Laugh it up, that old SOB probably has 300k on it and still has enough power to break drivetrain, "Albeit I'm sure it was weakened some by miles" but it still out pulled a lot of them. I’m not that familiar with what’s involved in these sled pulls, but it seems like gear ratio, tire choice, and front and rear air lockers would make a pretty big impact on traction alone. Half of those trucks looked like they lost traction and a couple of them looked like they were using all season tires.

      DIFFERENT USES, THE DURAMAX WILL ALWAYS BE FASTER WITH THE MODS, WHERE CUMMINS WILL BE A PULLING MACHINE ALL IN ALL. STRAIGHT 6 MOTORS HAVE TORQUE LOW END FOR DAYS WHERE V8S WILL HAVE THE BALANCE OF BOTH. 300 STRAIGHT 6 FORD GAS MOTORS HAD TORQUE BACK IN THE 80S AND EARLY 90S. IT COMES DOWN TO DESIGN OF THE PISTONS WHETHER THERE STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN OR AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. BOTH HAVE THERE PROS AND CONS. DURAMAX IS FUN WITH JUST A BOX TUNER UNLIKE CUMMINS BUT THERE EASIER TO WORK ON DUE TO SPACE. DURAMAX DRIVES A HELL OF ALOT BETTER ON THE ROAD THAN A CUMMINS DOES TOO STOCK FOR STOCK OR APPLES TO ORANGES. DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT THERE. NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWER BECAUSE THEY ALL CAN DO WHAT WORK TAKES JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT APPLICATIONS YOU THROW THEM IN. RACING HANDS DOWN DURAMAX, PULLING LONG MILES STRAIGT SIX CUMMINS

      both are so new, that they would likely still have warranty. can't mod the computers and have GM honor the warranty still, and with how computer controlled they are, they are difficult to mod without an aftermarket ECU delete. If they break on a pull, GM probably covers the replacement. the new duramax engines are really really good and put the old motors to shame.

    how due these pulling battles work ?

    • @OpticalToxin
      @OpticalToxin 3 года назад +5

      The "sled" they are pulling has a weight box on it that slides from the back of the sled to the front. As the weight box gets closer to the front, it also triggers a pan to drop into the ground for more drag. At some point, the full weight of the sled is on that pan which is when it gets the hardest for the trucks to continue pulling forward.
