What a great, melancholy, truly moving film this was. It's really great.

The film that won was Vittorio DeSica's last great movie. Whatever happened to Dominique Sanda, the star of the Finzi-Continis? Parenthetically, Leslie Caron looks absolutely sensational!

Leslie Caron as the personification of sophisticated and casual '70s style - never looked more beautiful!

Finzi-Continis was an inspiration to me! And (I thought) oozing with charisma, emotion, beauty and (to disagree with the producer) sexuality.

Interestingly, nominee The Emigrants was back again the following year with 4 nominations including Best Picture. This was following a wide release during 1972, GARDEN never got a wide release so faded from view.
