Dear Barrie, very nice ! Almost 4,000 P8 / DRG 38 / DB 38 were built between 1908 and 1926, both within Germany, and license built elsewhere, and war reparations meant some ended up on French, Polish, Rumanian, and other railways. They are apparently the most produced passenger 4-6-0 on the planet, amazing. Being 2 cylinder simple and superheated 4-6-0 means they were contemporary with the GWR Saints, and they lasted into service until 1974, which speaks highly of the design and engineering behind it. They also had a 4-6-4T version, (1912-1927) Prussian T18 / DRG 78 / DB 78, which Fleischmann also does a model of, and which I am fortunate enough to have one. Like your locomotive, well detailed, and runs very well. Another enjoyable video Barrie. Best regards to you and the family from Australia.

These locos are fantastic, and a few years ago a friend of mine who's the diesel shed manager at my heritage railway went over to a German DB museum and showed my a few videos of these German steam locos in steam and a amazing site all in their ' roundhouse shed.
