These guys had it all, as great as Eddie was, DLR was a super charasmatic singer, AVH was a killer drummer, and Michael Anthony was a solid bass player who sang amazing backing vocals. Each one had a sound that was instantly recognizable on their own.

And I credit Van Halen for getting attractive women at Rock Concerts. Other bands sporadically had good numbers of women to see Robert Plant, Daltrey, Mick Jagger etc. But Davie Lee Roth almost got Elvis powers on the women. Most great live rock bands were predominantly Sausage Fests. Sabbath had a few scary witch chicks, but not many to look at. Van Halen was like MTV music videos in the audience. Their videos had hot chicks so the women coming to VH concerts seemed to be dressed for recruiting (barely dressed and braless).

Alex Van Halen, their drummer is a beast and you'll hear it once you get around to songs like Hot for Teacher. I can't find a video for it, but Alex and Motley Crue's drummer Tommy Lee used to one-up each other with their stage shows. Eddie named the guitar Frankenstein because originally he use different guitar parts to create the mechanism that became his signature sound so what he did was he taped up the guitar to make it look like different pieces take together like Frankenstein. That then became the signature paint for his EVH guitar line if my memory serves me correctly I’m sure somebody will correct me if I’m wrong.
