Definite Integral with Absolute Value (Example)

  • This video works through an example of evaluating a definite integral that contains an absolute value expression. It focuses on finding the x-intercepts of the graph and then rewriting the integral to add up all the sections, including negative signs where necessary.
    As a nice addition, the song during the "evaluation process" is of my own creation!

    I like the old school ink and paper and the detailed explanation. I think you picked an example that had a bit too much arithmetic which isn't necessarily the purpose of the video, i.e. subtracting sixteenths, ending on an odd fraction etc. Would be easier to follow with a simpler example.

      He integrated it by the basic rule:
      int (x^n)dx = [x^(n+1)]/n+1
