Telephone Interveiw
Myrna Yvonne Smith was an American songwriter and singer.
Smith became a high school English teacher in South Brunswick, New Jersey in the 1960s, while she also pursued her singing career. She was an original member of Dionne Warwick's Gospelaires group which later evolved into the Sweet Inspirations. The Sweet Inspirations backed Dionne, Aretha Franklin and countless others, and later served as Elvis Presley's backing group.[2] When she joined, the lead singer of the Sweet Inspirations was Cissy Houston, the mother of Whitney Houston and dynamic soprano featured on Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way". The Sweet Inspirations would secure their own contract with Atlantic Records and records several albums in the late 60s / early 70s.
Smith later married Jerry Schilling, a friend and associate of Elvis who subsequently also managed the Beach Boys at one point.
In the early 1980s, she co-wrote all of the songs on Carl Wilson's 1981 solo album Carl Wilson, as well as a few of the songs on his 1983 solo album Youngblood, and Wilson's contributions to The Beach Boys' self-titled 1985 album.

I love Myrna what a beautiful sweet genuine woman she sounds to be..RIH you beautiful lady.
There is no one that compares to Elvis
Absolutely 💯
She was always my favorite and prettiest of the Sweets !
Elvis loved Myrna and Myrna loved Elvis. Him not being able to be loyal to just one woman is why she wouldn't let it go any further. She was quoted in an interview as saying "I was never his girlfriend. A girlfriend to Elvis was a queen of the night. What we had was way more special than that".
Myrna is my favorite of the Sweet Imspirations! I've seen her in a few enterviews and she never changed She's always so bubbly and upbeat! I can see why Jerry loved her and Elvis loved her as a friend. Even when she got up in age she was still beautiful and a lovely person. I didn't know she was a teacher at one time. I'm so sorry to hear about her passing, I didn't realize it was that long ago. I'm sure anyone that was fortunate enough to know her, really felt her loss. RIP Myrna Thank you for putting these interviews on UTube for us Joe! They are invaluable as part of history!❤
Thanks so much for this. I loved Myrna Smith and the rest of "The Sweets" as Elvis called them. I love listening to Elvis sing their signature song, "Sweet Inspirations" I knew she was married to Jerry Schilling. They were together ten years in total x
They were not ever married but she was his long time girlfriend.
@@lindaf4369not according to Jerry’s book
This channel is the best for Elvis history, we get all the people who were closest to Elvis in his career and life , historically very important as a lot of them are very old or have already passed away .Myrna passed away in 2010 only 69 very sad ...
Ãgreed
Yes that is very sad.. I wonder what happened to Sweet Myrna..

She's awesome
Sweet lady. ❤️
Awesome interview
I enjoy these interviews very much!
Great 😎⚡
Ждём с нетерпением,спасибо вам.
😮😮 Im in shock what she said about Elvis' hair sliding off.... Im assuming she meant hair because she said his head..... I heard that to make Elvis look like he did in earlier years that his side burns were glued on. 😮😮
Id love to hear about myrna & Jerry's relationship.... I heard she passed away a while back. Bless her heart. ❤
Great Interview...!!!!! As Always. ❤
For a minute there , I thought she said his head was sliding off too. I’ve after wondered if the wax dummy conspiracy was true , like they displayed a dummy in there for the fans because the body was too precious to take a risk of strangers damaging it .
@@VegasVixenI have never thought of that but it is a very legitimate assumption..hmm
She has such a special laugh that you know it’s her.

Then how do you learn about Elvis? You need to figure out which one is telling the truth . No Interviews and no books 'then you would know very little about hElvis .
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👌
Didn't like how Tom parker made him do those later crappy movies ,but in reflection they probably prolonged his life because when he came back to live shows he deteriorated fairly quickly. I think Elvis should have done a world tour straight after his aloha special. He never was the same after that. Boredom took over and he lost his edge.
Yup 👍
Addiction took Jim. Not touring. Col burned him out w his greed. Jerry is an angel. Love him. Listen to jerry. And Larry.
Those movies he was in? He hated. Drugs were under control during movie yrs according to j. Esposito. Young then. I loved those girls.
@@doriemckay6935 Joe never said that.
@@doriemckay6935 Again with the Col. Elvis killed Elvis. Get over it.
His head was sliding off joe this was awesome man but that kind of got me thinking I never heard that
Think it was Linda loveless ..the girl who myrna couldn’t remember her name. I read somewhere
Linda Lovelace.
@@jacquelineloveselvisDo you know who Linda Lovelace is ???
@@FrankieLovesElvis She was a 70s Pornstar.
I have one Q ,why didn't I get a car from Elvis , boo hoo !!!
Didn’t know she dated jerry..schilling ?
married
They dated in the 70s and got married at Graceland in 1982 and divorced 1987.
This guy is so loud and he talks over her and cuts her off, frustrating.
Im on the side with the microphone so that makes me louder . This was not an interview it was a conversation between two friends .It was never meant for you to hear
WOULD LIKE TO KNOW DID ELVIS EVER HAVE ANY GIRLFRIENDS THAT WERE NOT CACAUSION IF SO WHO AND WHEN THANKS 😊❤😊
Forget what book it was ' but they sayElvis and Myrna?
There's a few. Barbara McNair was involved with Elvis while making Change of Habit. Also tried to date both Darlene Love and did have a fling with Myrna. There was also a 19 year old black college girl named Magnolia Smith in Memphis who Elvis supposedly dated for a short time in late 1974 who became very close to him by time of his death. She described him as a father figure who was very good to her, even took her to Vegas for his March 75 engagement. There's a book about her called Elvis & Maggie Smith.
