I'm running wireguard at home/office/mobile/remote and on my business vps server, more easier to setup then openvpn and throughput is 10 times better then openvpn.
tailscale, which uses wireguard, beats openvpn access server hands down. It's even more cost effective, and has cool features such as peer to peer connectivity, ACLs, SSO, etc.

Two versions of OpenVPN. The Access Server is a commercial product with pretty WebGUI. You can use the open source / community version which is unlimited in number of connections.
Because wireguard is a static config on a per device basis. What if you want to push some new routes? Are you going to go to every device and manually change their config? Nah. This is more of a business solution. Wireguard does not have any mechanism for user authentication and control. No sure why people suggest wireguard without assessing business IT control requirements.

no issue at all. there are official guides to use letsencrypt with access server
