- Idina Menzel takes a minute out of her concert to pay tribute to her religion. She is Jewish if you don't know. It starts off with her talking about how she is so frazzled because everything in the show kept going wrong. (her sound thing came off twice). and then she continues talking about how she ran up the capital's stairs in Nashville and how she felt like Rocky. Then she starts talking about dropping out of Hebrew school. Finally she sings a little something from the Torah.

that was beautiful!! too bad she quit. but i love how she still continues to embrace her religion. absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

'i quit hebrew school. and you're not supposed to do that.' oh dear shes so funny

Hebrw music is a great music!!
my heart's stopping...
well, she said when they were young that she was always the performer and her sister decided to start auditioning for plays and things and they would all tell her "that's your sister's thing, find your own" and her sister was like 20, idina said she overheard her singing to her son one night and she had such a beautiful, sweet voice and idina said she felt like she had stolen something from her.
God Bless!
That story is so...relatable for me. My half-sister was always the singer and evrybody always told me that performance art was her thing- I was too shy...
Well, fuck that, because I'M the musical theater major and she's going into nursing.
Okay, so...not the same thing, but still.
Ok i now wish i moved to america and had my bat mitzvah out there! its sounds sooo cool! you get to go up and sing! mine was still cool anyways = D I had to do the Story of Deborah in my hebrew classes! i found it sooo interesting, espcially as all of my friends chose the people who everyone knew and i had never heard of Deborah before so it was really cool! I hope she'll sing more Hebrew! it sounds sooo great and my Youth leader at shul loves it! = D
It sounded really cute! I'm not Jewish so i didn't actually understood what she was singing but sounded cute anyway :]
Gio RC same
so pretty
AHHHHHH i just realised that it's my parsha!
It's beshalach i'm pretty sure!
and the haftorah is the story of devorah and Yael, the strong women in the bible!
have you heard the story about her sister? Its really sad. I feel sorry for both her and her sister.
ha if i had been there i would've screamed "WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE SUNG MY PARSHAH?!?!!??!?!"
@racetracknewsielover its shiras devorah but her accent is kinda wierd lol
I think she sings about Devorah
Wahoo! I love being an orthodox Jew!!
'Love you too im so sorry im all...discombobulated' LOL
Hallelu, ferazon B'Yisrael khadelu ad sha'kamti Devorah sha'kamti em B'Yisrael. Uri uri Devorah uri uri dabri-shir, Barak kum Avino'am.
it's from Judges 5: 7, 12. am not sure about the last part though. i just searched this as am not Jewish. :)
The last part is "baruch adonai", 'praise the lord'
Why couldn't this have been my haftarah? mine was boring. it was from ezekial. at least this is interesting!
