  • Idina Menzel takes a minute out of her concert to pay tribute to her religion. She is Jewish if you don't know. It starts off with her talking about how she is so frazzled because everything in the show kept going wrong. (her sound thing came off twice). and then she continues talking about how she ran up the capital's stairs in Nashville and how she felt like Rocky. Then she starts talking about dropping out of Hebrew school. Finally she sings a little something from the Torah.
Video taped 7-17-08 in Nashville, TN

well, she said when they were young that she was always the performer and her sister decided to start auditioning for plays and things and they would all tell her "that's your sister's thing, find your own" and her sister was like 20, idina said she overheard her singing to her son one night and she had such a beautiful, sweet voice and idina said she felt like she had stolen something from her.

That story is so...relatable for me. My half-sister was always the singer and evrybody always told me that performance art was her thing- I was too shy...
Well, fuck that, because I'M the musical theater major and she's going into nursing.
Okay, so...not the same thing, but still.

Ok i now wish i moved to america and had my bat mitzvah out there! its sounds sooo cool! you get to go up and sing! mine was still cool anyways = D I had to do the Story of Deborah in my hebrew classes! i found it sooo interesting, espcially as all of my friends chose the people who everyone knew and i had never heard of Deborah before so it was really cool! I hope she'll sing more Hebrew! it sounds sooo great and my Youth leader at shul loves it! = D
