I think that you could almost build one of these truck cabs from scratch, you almost have. As a business venture you could sell paper patterns of the patch panels that you have made. That way you don't have to ship heavy metal patches. You could call your company "Kyles Cabs". I did enjoy the panel that you made over the transmission. As a connoisseur of native dances, I did notice the Saskatchewan 2-step that you did to test it's strength. Have you had any formal training, or does it come naturally?
Yes, I think if you brought him a headlight ring, a radio knob, and a rotted piece of wood from the bed he could turn out a running driving truck.

Thankfully because of my awesome computer skills I was able to rewind and replay the video to fill in the missing tapping footage. Playing in slow motion helps a lot if you are at that skill level. I'm surprised you and Karl don't know each other. I, like most Americans thought all Canadians knew each other. I learn a lot from your videos. Blitzing along. Love the format. Only thing is, I have the distinct impression that if I was doing that, it would not go that fast. In fact, not only do you cut things quite accurately and fit them well, with nary an 'aw shit' or an 'uh oh!', but it seems to me that you are benefitting from some sort of time compression. Einstein said that in order to compress time as much as you appear to do, you would have to be zipping along at near light speed. Yet despite your quick work, I do not see any space ships in your shop. So it is a pleasant mystery. :) That cab is shaping up in a hurry.

That was a really nice job making those floor pans. Cats seem to like the rustling paper sound. Poe looks right at home in that box. Looks like Edgar is taking turns being in the box. Cats love to play with paper. Thanks for another great video.

For Dec. 17 - Grievance: I have yet to see a chicken anywhere near the Chicken Truck. It just stands to reason, to me, that if the truck is being prepared for the use of chickens, they would want to see it being built and would be present - despite the danger of feather ignition during welding sequences.

Those mother tucker hammers are the shiznit for sure! I almost bought one but they were sold out back when I looked, have to check again. Karl is another awesome metal working artist! Maybe a collaboration some day with him Aye?
Once there was a void and now it’s chuck full of steel! Amazing! Just a little curious about the bottom of the inner cowl panels. Maybe because you designed the floor panels, but did you reduce the radius on the bend and the angle of the bend as found on stock AD inner cowl panels? Wow, a Karl Fisher hammer and accessories! And the cats get a box. Karl lives 10 minutes from me, but that’s too far for some of his talent to rub off on me through osmosis.
Hi Paul! Good question, the cab is channeled 1", meaning the floor of the cab is now 1" higher, so I put a smaller radius in the bottom of the panel so the factory windlace/seal will still fit up to the inner door.
OMG, top of the line tools? Just great, now I gotta find me another body guy to watch using the same kinda junk I own! Very much enjoyed the replacement parts making and install.

I can’t understand why you guys are so driven to work yourselves to death when a few cut up tin cans with a judicious application of roofing tar makes a perfectly acceptable floorboard, and even increases the insulation for winter.

As per usual another great video,you cleaned up the floor and firewall nicely. I bet it felt good to cut out the floor bracing and not have anything move. You do amazing work with the limited space and tools you have, that shows me that you really are talented in what you do. He manufactures a planishing hammer that looks outstanding and well crafted. I've seen an add recently for an assortment of bits both drill bit and tap in one. Maybe they've been around but new to me. Seems like a time saver if you have the space on the backside to use something of that length to drill and tap a hole all in one step.
for a minute there I thought that there was a new puppy in that box for the kitties to play with .they have been so bored since they destroyed the last one ,but alas it was just a hammer .Good on you that's a mighty fine tool it will go a long ways towards taking out your frustrations out on metal and humans that get in your space .And the best thing of all it leaves no marks there for no evidents.

Kyle, I listen to your words very carefully because what you say compared to what you don't say are often important. You've mentioned that you'll probably put this chicken truck project outside when you're bored or drawn to something else. So why let it rust? What could a couple of Rustoleum rattle cans of Chicken Yellow cost? It seems to me that a couple of layers of Chicken Yellow on the raw steel (both inside the cab and under it) could help preserve it for a couple of years or until you've decided to return to it?
Oh I would definitely prime over the bare metal before it goes outside. I don't enjoy sanding rust off!

Gee Kyle, I think 52,000 from Boyd Coddingtons shop and only a 3 year wait time is pretty good. But then, it's probably gone all to hell since he died back in 2008. Gotta say this chicken truck has me sitting waiting for more. If you're not careful it's going to become solid and a thing of beauty :)

Nice job on the panels there, Kyle. It occurred to me that a pedal powered bead roller might be a good idea. Probably wouldn't work. The dream sorry chicken truck is beginning to take shape.
Hey Mart! I think a pedal powered roller could definitely work with some imagineering. The trouble is, I spend all my time struggling to build junk vehicles instead of putting my time into building tools that will make my life easier.

I've been using my mother tucker pattern hammer for a job i'm doing on heavier stainless steel. You'll find it works very well. Giving predictable results with the extra mass. Boy the cost of your sheet metal out in Saskatchewan must be crazy. $49,000.

Cat scans are better than scat cans.
Every few years, the bread baking folks reduce the size of their bread loaves. This is to keep the same price per loaf by saving on bread input costs. They discard the older, larger breadpans as scrap. It is a great opportunity to salvage the pans and repurpose into floorpans for Ur Poulet Project. Could save you $10,000 in material costs, what with the ever skyrocketing price of new steel. Ask for the baker's dozen discounts and save even more!.. Thanks for sharing your build.

Having dealt with Texans.......... I'd say that was more a Texas rust free truck. Cali rust free trucks only have rust where you can't see it without getting on your knees. But, both of them are rust free!!!!! And your's too. Glad you remove all that rust free metal, so we have something to watch. The "show must go on".

Fender swoop, door.
The truck will be low, so make the swoop solid, a part of the lower sill, and cut the door to open above it.
As long as it isn't too deep, or high, a person could easily step over it to get in.
The floor of the cab is already higher, so I think it would feel good getting in and out.
Wouldn't require acrobatics or contortions, and may actually improve the egress and ingress of the vehicle.
I do hope I am detailed enough that you can grasp what I'm seeing.
I miss Roy off of Boyds show, never much cared for the same old beach cruiser builds they did, but he had some talented builders. Your skills are on another level from them fake reality tv shows, also glad your doing a custom there are plenty of original builds in museums. Another great video and it looks like you QC department approve of the new tools.
