Bitcoin was the only thing. It's not unwise and unsound to assume this because Bitcoin was the 'breakthrough', after which others were only emulations. The point about consensus reminds me of quantum physics, where it's the observation, that locks in reality irrespective of reality, just as it also collapses the wave function. Could these be linked?
Consensus does not become the truth. It is a result, not the truth.
Everybody can agree that I am a cat, but that does not make it so. The only truth of the consensus, is the consensus itself.
