Repairing a Faulty AGP DMC6P Diamond Core Drill this stiff, over heating and doesn't want to run.

- This is a new repair for me. Haven't heard of or work on any AGP tools before.
But basicly this Is a rebranded made in China drill similar to the Marcrist DDM3 diamond core drill.
AGP simply have thier name put on these drills, they don't actually make them.
This DMC6P drill running very badly and the air deflector inside had buckled causing the motor fan to rub against it.
Removing it is the quickest and easiet repair, but not ideal. Replacing it would be better, but I have no suppliers for this brand and the customer needs it now, so removal is the only option.

Never heard of the brand, but seems like a decent machine, thanks for showing us this one.

You could 3d print the deflector out of abs or cut new one using modelling saw and some fr4 fiberglass board.
Torque on the handle made the plastic buckle in. Lose handle so a guy in the field tightend it and drove in the screws to deep. Seen it done on a few machines. Powertools as wel as tractors and equipment.

Working on laptop repair I get that screw problem a lot. Very different field so interesting to see a common fault of my field ending up on your desk. One of two ways this happens, one is just driving screws in too hard. The other is just swapping around near identical looking screws but one was just a tiny bit longer than the other. So often someone'll just take all the bottom plate screws out and since they have the same head assume they're the same. Then they put them back at random, think "oh that's a bit tight. Anyway" and then just drive them in. Often through the front of the laptop creating little bubbles in the front of it. Or worse, through the actual electronics or into a fan. I've seen too many faults like this end with the screw going into fan blades. Always a messy repair those are. Why manufacturers insist on having 70 different screw types per device I'll never understand.

Looks like a solid machine apart from the silly air deflector. Gearbox is oil lubed so that will last forever and the bearings that failed werent even no name china bearings but decent ones. Maybe they should go one size up on the bearings.
But 1300€???
Would have guessed 350-500€.
nice to see something a bit diferent . thats a stupid design . that should have been caught once the first part was made.
you should offer a higher service to machines like this. im sure the customer would like it . i would gladly pay extra on a machine like that to change the oil and service all of it rather than just fixing the broken bits
When apart from repairing a tool, youre also need to be a flipping detective, cause owner cant be arsed to say whats wrong.

Nice job! Could you - as an option - remove the handle bolts that were causing the issue and filed/cut them down that 5mm so that the disc would fit in place, or had they made too large an impact on that interior ring where the deflector was ment to sit?
Or possibly add 2 washers?

There's more and more tools and brands that have been using zip ties on the field. Cheap way of holding the wires together, but they do not pass the savings on to the consumer. Also, it can not be as safe for the tool.
There may be a lot of people that don't know which direction the bearing should face or is there a direction the bearing should face !? I noticed that you have preferences in bearing brands so would it be best to switch to that brand of bearing or is it cost-effective ?
No bearings have no direction direction. They can be fitted either side. Unless it's a one way bearing.
You want to go with a good brand if your repair others machines or are a repair man. They simply last longer. Go with NSK, FAG, SKF, NTN ect

Great video. Any idea where a lad would get an adapter that goes from the 1-1/4 UNC arbour, to the smaller arbour like the dewalt, erbaur, etc core bits?? Thanks

No they are used to core out holes in concrete and brickwork for pipes, electrical cables etc...
The drill bit is basically a metal tube with diamond tipped teeth on it.
When drilling you usually drill with a high rotation speed and low pressure on the drill, that way the bit carves out a very clean hole and last very long.
Also you drill wet so you have a water hose hooked to the drill to eliminate dust and cool the drill bit.
Is it possible the screws may be of different sizes and someone put em wrong
I'm no expert but the 2 screws which were stopping the disc from sitting properly I may have taken them out & possibly built them up with a washer or 2 to bring the screws down a bit more? Nice job though
@@schuey089 Id would be better to cut them down few mm and fix the thread. They look like m3 or m4, so even plier with cutting function would do the trick, but they would still need to be tapered to not destroy the plastic thread on the body.
