  • Hi guys!
    It has been a while since I have shared one of these completed pages videos, so I thought I would come on and share my completed pages in my Mythographic books. I have books by Fabiana Attanasio and Joseph Catimbang.
    I really enjoy colouring in the Mythographic books - firstly, the artworks by these illustrators are stunning! And then the quality of the books is great, so it is such an enjoyable experience as a whole colouring in these books.
    Hope you enjoy the video and see you on the next one soon.
    Happy colouring!

    Every page is stunning Shel. I hope one day that you do a tutorial from one of the mythographic books. I’d love to watch you doing the pencil on a wet background technique and tackling such detailed images. 🙏🏻

    i agree wholeheartedly about wanting to have our own color ideas when we've seen several wonderful versions. Sometimes, i just have to wait , or? I have to be the very first person. I love your pages- even the ones that aren't your favorites because the colors are more fantastical. these books lend themselves so easily to the fantastical color choices.

    I like your idea of just mapping out the colors on busy pages and then going in and doing detail. I will try that and see if it helps my sense of overwhelm.

      I do the same and it does help tremendously. A light base of color.. either pencil or marker. When it's all black and white it's so easy to get confused or miss small objects. I also suggest doing the backgrounds first.

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  Год назад +1

      Yes, definitely try it out, and I hope it does help. It usually helps me.....starting to lay down and map out colours just gets rid of a black and white page. I agree, I most usually do my backgrounds first....this covers up all the empty space and allows you to see the main illustration more clearly....hope you manage to tackle some busy pages 🤗💗

      They lend themselves very well to alcohol marker base.. it really makes things easier. Even just doing the backgrounds helps, you can pick around all the tiny details so much easier.

    I started with Wild Winter. One nice thing about it is although it still has the hidden objects they all are placed well (not smack in the middle of the main subject) and they all actually make sense in the picture. For example on a page with a magical spell there is a wand, a cauldron, some potion bottles, etc. The last page I did was the faun in the lightbulb and there were apples and some cute small animals (rabbit, snail, caterpillar, etc). The bad thing about it is the snow/ice.. it's time consuming.. just working around it all is difficult and fussy... and it gets old after a while since it's on every page.

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  Год назад

      Yes I have never really minded the hidden objects in Joseph Catimbang's pages....they are well thought out.
      I can imagine that Wild Winter has a lot of snow and ice to colour....but the pages in that book are stunning!! Wouldn't want to miss out on it 😂🤗

    I love distress ink but have yet to figure out how to get it in and around small areas. What did you use to apply it on your astronaut page?

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  Год назад

      On the astronaut page I just used the normal ranger ink pads...I was still new to distress inks at the time. Nowadays, I occasionally use craft brushes which come in different sizes, so that is useful. 🤗💗
