Thanks for the explanation. Really helped me understand the concept. But just one observation, wouldn't it be closer to 70% to use 0.52 vs. 0.53 z score? Since 0.0015 is closer to 70% than 0.0019 (looking at the last two digits of the z score and zeroing out the preceding digits)

I don't get it, my question is: Assume the random variable X is normally distributed with mean 50 and standard deviation 7. Find the 96 th percentile. I have no z-score grid either. I am so lost.

    Hello,
I know this is an old video. But there is a correction that should be made. 0.52 is the ACTUAL z-score, not 0.53. It doesn't matter if it is below 70%, so long as it is closer than the other value (in this case .7019).

I put the data (0.3, 80, 9, right) into invnorm on my calculator and got 84.7, then used the Z score formula for 0.5222

Yeah. Thumbs down because I learned nothing . What does the .50 have to do with anything? you made no connection as to how to find that portion. Annoyed. Thanks anyway

I don't understand why 30% is on the right side instead of the left side.... 30 is less than 80 so shouldn't it be on the left side making it a negative?
