Normal Distribution: Calculating Probabilities/Areas (z-table)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 июл 2016
- This tutorial shows how to calculate areas/probabilities using the cumulative standard normal tables.
For 0 to Z tables: • Normal Distribution | ...
For inverse lookup: • Normal Distribution: ...
Steps for calculating areas/probabilities using the cumulative normal distribution table:
1. Translate the score (x) into a z-score:
2. Find the corresponding area from the z-table.
3. i) For less than area/probability, the area in the table is the answer.
ii) For greater than area, subtract area in the table from 1.
iii) For area between, subtract smaller area from larger area.
For those who came here with their exams tomorrow
😂😂😂😂
In 11 hours lol
Today, in 3 hours time
@@gokulks6752 how did you do?
@@awesomebush8711 they gave a couple of values (not Z score) and asked to find mean and variance, not the way I prepared sadly. I messed up. But I did answer the other parts, so I'm confident I will pass. How did yours go??
You taught me in 5 minutes what my teacher couldn't in 4 hours. Thank you!
RIGHT!!!...OR THEY DID NOT WANT TO TEACH!

This is the first time I've ever fully understood this. Holy shit why can't all teachers just explain it like this...
I don't think if this is the first video you are watching you'll understand the concept. I also loved the video have given my thumbs up. But this was a revision for me. I had learnt this earlier, 2 years back.
Agree simply because your teacher already introduce the lesson that helps to understand this video lesson better so better appreciate your teachers effort🙂
6 years later, you’re still explaining what my professor can not! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
How do u get the 0.02 there up
I have a question. After finding our Z for example, his first exercise it was -1.2 so according which criteria should we choose 0.02? in order to find its region. I'm confused I need explanation please. Thank you
@@EphraimMenseThere are 2 decimal places in -1.22. The first decimal place is 0.2 which is included in -1.2 and the second decimal place is 0.02. Hope this helps!

this is the easiest way to explain Normal Probability on even I watched on RUclips....
Thank u solo much Sir
bro your voice is smooth af ngl
If X is a normal random variable with mean 12 and standard deviation 2, how can we standardize X to be a standard normal random variable Z?
I just got an A.....I am on my way to buy myself and you a beer
Quickest Explained!. Read 4texts but couldn't get it, until now. Thanks Dude, Great work, Please keep making videos.
watching this because I don't pay attention during math
Why did you use the column 0.02?
By looking at the decimal for the zscore. Since the zscore was -1.22, you use the colum for 0.02
Because the Zscore was -1.22 you find the tenths place (1.2) on the vertical values. Then you find the hundredths place of 1.22 (.02) in the columns.
So if your z score was -1.23 then go to row 1.2 and column .03, If the z score is -1.24 then the row is still 1.2 but the column will be .04
Hope that makes it clear.
Audrey Mendez,
Your explanation helped me to understand why the person in the tutorial selected those particular columns. I think he did not explained that part in the video.
You nailed it though.
Thank you.
@@Audreyada817 thank you so much!! lifesaveerrr
