Tagann carúl Coventry ón 16ú aois. Cuireadh é ar stáitse sé mar chuid den dhráma mistéire 'The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors'. Insíonn an dráma seo scéal na Nollag; bíonn an carúl seo ag déanamh tagairt don ár a ndearna rí Héaród ar gach buachaillin faoi aois dó i mBeithil. Is suantraí atá anseo do na leanaí bochta seo, nach raibh aon fhorás i ndán dóibh. 'Séard atá anseo ná cóiriú tobchumtha; taifeadta sa seomra suí; déanta in aon geámh amháin!
This carol dates from Coventry, England, in the 1500s. It was traditionally performed as part of the mystery play, 'The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors.' This mystery play is the story of the nativity; this song tells of when Herod ordered that all male infants under the age of two in Bethlehem be killed. 'The Coventry Carol' is a lullaby sung by the mothers of these poor little boys. This is an improvised arrangement, performed in the sitting room, and recorded in one take.
Úna performs a range of Irish dance music, Celtic music, and Celtic songs, with occasional explorations of folk music outside the Celtic world.
