Finally a review of this model kimber that shows the internals, every other review ive seen is just some dude droning on endlessly saying the same things over and over without really covering the pistol like you did....Thanks for the best review ive seen on this model 👍
Great video!! Just picked up my Shadow Ghost tonight. Your video was easy to follow. The only problem I had was getting the slide release to snap in behind the pin from the safety. But a few minutes of wiggling got it in place. And no Idiot Mark 🤘😁🤘 Can't wait to go to the range this weekend to try it out.
Can I please make a suggestion! On assembly, try going about it like you did but one thing! Put the slide assembly on the frame like you did with Barrel, Rod and spring. Then bring the slide back and install the slide stop into its full resting place as it would be with gun complete. Doing it this way the slide is not under any spring pressure, and super easy to put the slide stop into position. Then bring the slide back forward, drop the hammer, Or bring the thumb safety up into the safe position to hold the slide. Then install the spring plug onto the spring push it in and lock the plug behind the barrel bushing by pushing in the spring and plug with the tool you used if you have a tight bushing, or with just your fingers. Most off the shelf 1911’s can be assembled using only your fingers. Just my two cents and trying to help you and others. I’ve been working with 1911’s for 40+ years. It’s my favorite pistol.
Im always willing to listen to suggestions, especially when they are given in such an informative and polite way. Thank you for being respectful and I will definitely try it to see how it goes. Thank you for the comment
Yeah thank you very much for watching it. I was impressed when I first checked it out and that's why I want to find the lightweight Arctic which was basically the visual opposite to the shadow ghost. And recently traded that in for the Aegis Elite. I've had great luck with kimber's and until I have problems with one I'm going to keep buying them
Thanks for the video. This is my first 1911 that I picked up for $610 by searching wikiarms. The biggest hiccup I had was the damn slide release (didn't know it needed to be past the slide lock point) and the barrel bushing was turned the wrong way with reassembly. Maybe the bushing being the wrong way on the assembly didn't matter, but it sure as hell felt like it after 30 mins trying to reassemble it.
The shadow ghost was a review copy from the store that I work at. I did not put any rounds through that one. But I did own the Arctic which is the same gun just a different color scheme. I put a little over 400 rounds through that gun and never had a malfunction except for one bad magazine. But it was an old magazine. Kimber has some bad reviews mostly stemming from older guns. I kind of think they're actually having somebody else build their guns, at least their lower priced ones. Desert Eagle uses BUL Armory to build their 1911s and don't mention it in any other documentation. So maybe the quality has improved because they're using a different assembler or parts manufacturer supplier
Yesterday pick up my first Kimber 1911. My local gun store have them on sale and it was the Shadow Ghost for $607.00 out the door. I like it better over the Rock Island 1911 Officer I had.
wow cheapest i have seen it this version has been at academy for 749. lg2s is over 800 hundred. fyi i live in stephenville texas. a small town 50 miles sw of fort worth.
Hey bud, it's a lot easier to get that slide stop/release back into the frame without the spring plug already in place. Just put it back together in reverse of how you took it apart.
Hey. Sorry, I had to delete the last comment I made. Yes I should have left the spring until the end. I don't know why I reassembled it that way on that particular gun. That was stupid of me. Most of the time I tend to not do that. If you watch my most recent 1911 video which is on a Kimber Elite Aegis, you'll see I put the spring in after I have it reassembled. You are right it is easier. Plus I filmed that video with the camera at a different angle and I decided to overcomplicate it cuz I'm an idiot
The one I have on layaway looks exactly like that one with black plastic grips. I think it would be a sin not to order wood grips for it. Getting a set of those and some nice magazines for it 👍
Kimber the only 1911's i ignore at the store, they are usually all kinds of colors and crap, just don't like em, owned 2 and also where problem pistols. Glad their still alive but i don't care for all their tacky designs.

I just bought this exact Kimber about 2 weeks ago. Beautiful gun. Very light weight. Got a couple Wilson combat 10 round magazines.
How your kimber holding up?
@@kingd3001 Holding up fairly well. Haven't had any issues yet.
Picked it up at the beginning of the year. My 2nd KIMBER pistol in 45 ACP. Thanks for sharing.

I bought this gun a couple of months ago. Great gun, shoots beautifully. Highly recommended.
Great review very informative, but has anyone ever told you you sound a little bit like Alan Alda?
My Kimber custom II has never jammed once probably over 2,000 rounds on it in 4 years
Thank you for this video, I just ordered the same gun and I'm even more excited now 👍

Value for money is for sure.
But also doubt its durability?

@@TheJimminiShow I totally understand
My bushing moves left to right but will not come off the slide any ideas on how to remove it.
This guy obviously uses his arm hair to test how sharp his knives are! Lol

I just bought one of these earlier today, it was on sale at my local Academy.
