Yeah I did this but with 3 assault mechs and no droppage limit. Just order the 3 assaults to sit at the lz and bring all the chasers to them. Bonus points for 3 x stalkers for maximum range missile fun.
@@ForeLab honestly a valid way to do it! Personally, these missions are a blessing in disguise for multi-mission sets, as your other mechs can all get repairs while the little guy gets the easy payday, and stockpiles salvage for the next one.
@WalrusWinking Probably cause you're finding oversights in the rules, or things that the rules actually enable you to do to gain an unfair advantage. I often think the best "cheaters" are the ones who understand the rules in depth rather than never learning them to begin with. It's what makes actual warfare strategy fascinating sometimes with how some generals finding weird concepts that work.
And this is why I keep at least one Light mech in my reserves. Plus the ability to just go ‘Beep Beep Mother F******’ is always a great adrenaline rush. Great job on that run, you prove you are an excellent pilot.

I'll definitely have to consider tricking out a mech like this. I've been bringing my whole crew in a normal loadout to do these. Though on a side note, I've would've made use of those airstrikes to avoid the risk of getting a leg wrecked and if I'm remembering right, adding a TAG or NARC Beacon will increase the effectiveness of said airstrikes.

I tried doing this using two flees with a friend in co-op last night, in a mission where you have to target antenna around a big open airfield... it didn't go well. The Flea's not quite as quick as the Locust, and my friend kept getting a leg damaged which brought him to a crawl and then the inevitable KABOOM! 😅 That happened right in front of me at one point, it was bloody hilarious, just seeing him just go from 90kph to a dead stop 🤭😆🤣
(using yaml) I did this in a locust. put on a Null signature, ecm and a 200 rating engine and just **booked** it lmao obscenely fast, and the stealth debuffs ontop of the speed meant i only took damage when i slowed down to destroy objectives
Sik! I do similar missions with the Firestarter that's got Hardened Armor, 110kph+supercharger and jumpjets. Also have a Locust with Hardened Armor Ferro and 2 Gatling MGs. YAM series.
TIp for you. Machine guns and flammers deal increased damage to structures so you can make short work of buildings. Also ECM is really good at disrupting AI fire.
This was before ECM was available, and I didn't plan on using any guns during the raid so didn't bring anything useful :) You can't go without guns, so I put on light rifles.
I paid money for a mech game to duke it out, I refuse to leave any enemies standing. You can imagine that’s a little hard on those stand your ground and get paid more missions. Sometimes I stay too long and regret everything about life. Lol
@@rocketsocks3116 Rifles are better at taking out specific components than spamming MG and AC2 fire. Early on i put 2 medium rifles in a Black Jack and went head capping for fun and profit.
@@rocketsocks3116 they are effectively gauss rifles, just smaller. Same niche. The mgs are good for close DMG but those rifles can hit from a long ways, and you can hit and run while ac 2 needs sustained damage trade
They should have brought a mech with at least 2 heavy rifles, they were so focused on saturation fire that a well placed shot would have ended the life of our pilot here
Form now on a mech game doesn't qualify as cool if it doesn't allow to plow through a metal hangar at breakneck speed like a train through a snowdrift.

brave tactic, though personally I wouldn't put Light Rifles on a Mech I don't intend to shoot stuff with. Too much risk to lose that hardware when some lucky shot could destroy them through the flimsy armor :-)
What makes it faster and more agile? Isn't that just dependant on what engine you put in it? (I can't remember if you can change engines in vanilla now that I think about it so maybe that's a dumb question.)
@@rocketsocks3116 in vanilla its a hero mech. generally hero mechs have XL engines ( that dont explode when hit) and have more slots for the same weight and have been tweaked from MWO. so faster better stronger is the name of the game with them. standard locust is 129 kph hero locust is 153 kph. the PB locust has 4 energy slots AND 2 small ballistic slots all torso mounted. other than that its a fairly standard locust.
@@SSGTWinters right ya that makes sense. I never played vanilla, I booted up the game, saw that you couldn't customize your mechs and immediately installed the MWO mechlab mod and had nearly forgotten how different vanilla is.

Who needs a gun when you can hurl 20 tonnes of steel into a conference at 185km/h?

my dropship keeps getting kills so i fail the achievement
it feels so cheaty when i do it. Realisticly and in battletech proper, this would cause massive damage to the locust.
I can do this on level 13-14 maps but level 15 is down right impossible.
