that was fun to watch! =) btw in match 2 game 2 you could have imprinted unmask instead of sheoldred as it is pretty unlikely to cast discard past turn 2 vs this deck specially after transforming
MIND READER! I was wondering (legit) last week if there was a Mono-B deck that has a transformational Sideboard... as always, love your content, love your channel!
I have Metamorph in my Karn board at the moment, seems fairly versatile in the current meta. My bingo card includes “cloning Painter player’s Grindstone for the win” and “nice Kaldra Compleat, I have a Kaldra Compleat now.”
19:11 Opponent Wasteland'd their own Urza's Saga to stop your Opposition Agent from getting another card. This is a questionable play (there was no need for them to do it precombat let alone pre-your-end-step; you ended up trading away Opposition Agent anyway, so if they'd waited, the Saga-tutor would've been unlocked; and of course it puts them down on mana), but that's clearly why they did it. I guess they really didn't want you to get a probably-Retrofitter-Foundry.
I love SB transformations to avoid your opponents hate cards and confuse them for games 2 AND 3. It just stinks you lose some of your own sideboard in the process.
Always loved me a good old surprise sideboard, i think i saw it for the first time during the splinter twin era? I don't remember what it changed into, i think a good old ur aggro or something, could be wrong. Anyway you had a bit of bad luck against the initiative, but it doesn't feel like a strong matchup anyway, which could be an issue in this metagame. EDIT : It was UR storm into Splinter Twin. Around 2012.
I'm disappointed that never did you attempt to use the Griselbrand + Sheoldred combo of Gain 7 life to draw 7 cards. It's basically a guaranteed game win if you get it off. They just passed like ships in the night every time :(
My feeling is that collective brutality is to slow with sorcery speed. For Discard you can use Regi. I would substitute with one more exhume and another creature
Hey, since it’s a reanimator list, I figured I could ask here - I’ve been goldfishing a Tin Fins list for the last week with Atraxa, Grand Unifier as the main réanimation target, and it’s been reasonably consistent, is that something you’d be willing to look at a list for?
100% willing to play it as a donation decklist if that's what you want. If you're looking for help tuning, I recommend the Reanimator Discord instead. discord.gg/JA8SqzUB
Locthwain not coming into play untapped on turn 1 really slows down your combo hands. The other two seem pretty weak by Legacy standards in a Wasteland world.
Unmasking yourself to get a creature in the yard for free is a huge part of its utility in reanimator decks, especially ones without access to Faithless Looting.
@@ThrabenUniversity I definitely understand the reasoning, but it seems to me that after transformation, Grief is significantly better. You're not going to be targeting yourself at that point. Hardcast Unmask is basically never going to happen, while hardcast Grief is totally reasonable. And it opens you to lines like Grief your opponent, and then reanimate what you grab if they have a good creature or just reanimate Grief if they don't. Between Regisaur, Collective Brutality, and maxed Thoughtseize, you have more discard outlets than usual, so it feels to me like you could get away with some Grief here.
35:38 am i missing something? there's absolutely no shot is griselbrand worse than archon here imo. it just seems way less likely to completely whiff off of 7, maybe 14 cards than for your opponent to topdeck solitude, especially whne you already have a reanimate in hand (obviously you are far ahead either way and it's pretty marginal)
What about phyrexian obliterator? You have heaps of black acceleration and it wins the combat fights. Also can be both a reanimation target and a fair threat.
@@ThrabenUniversity Given that all the other threats in the deck already get put deep in the dirt by any exile removal (minus the draws off Griselbrand and the damage done by Archon triggers), do you think having Obliterator would improve the ground combat situation enough that it might be better against Initiative? Being a Sheoldred-level fighter that can't be Karakas'd seems like a small but quantifiable advantage, especially as they can't risk attacking into it and sacrificing their whole board even if they can make a creature bigger than it.
@@thekevmeister77 What is White Plume Adventurer if not big chonky? (That also cantrips, and burns the opponent, and dumps a creature from your deck onto the battlefield... OK, so it's a bit more than that. 😅)
I was making the chew cha chunk transformer sound affect everyti.e you would sideboard. Haha! (sorry my onomonopia is never good.) What are your thoughts on any of the new Phyrexia All Will Be One cards for legacy?
Uh, the cards look powerful. There are some toxic cards that might slot into Infect, and a new powerful one mana counterspell. I expect a reasonable number of upgrades for decks, but nowhere near the impact of, say, New Phyrexia on the format.

those were some fun games to watch! hopefully they make some meaningful bans to alleviate the init/delver problem.
Awww yiss, more mono black shenanigans!
Moni B Reanimator is definitely the coolest of the reanimator variants, always happy to see it!

I really like that. I've gotten wrecked by that a couple of times.
Love the sheoldred decks 😅
Transformer decks, decks in disguise.
More than meets the eeeye!

Gotta love it when you immediately Do The Thing round 1 game 1.

Why not use Grief instead of Unmask, which you can reanimate as well and discard one more card with
Grief can't target yourself.
ok to be fair:

Really cool deck. Is the lack of cool nonbasic lands like Locthwain and Shizo Death's Storehouse and Takenuma to dodge wasteland?
Locthwain not coming into play untapped on turn 1 really slows down your combo hands. The other two seem pretty weak by Legacy standards in a Wasteland world.
@@ThrabenUniversity Fair enough! I was just thinking that Shizo is pretty freaking fun when you've got Sheoldred down!
Lack of Grief here seems odd. Is the chance of targeting yourself worth losing out on the body? Especially given the transformational sideboard.

I was wondering the same thing, seems you can easily reanimate Grief turn 1-2 when on the creature plan.
I think it is. It's close, but an extra way to get your own fatties into the yard gives it the edge, imo.

Griselbrand is better in many ways, but I think I was specifically trying to make sure Karakas wasn't an out at the time.
hm, yeah, not putting yourself to 6 does seem better against Karakas. still not the play I would've made, but it's nice to get some insight!
Sorry, you're telling me this man has not only been knighted, and also studdied medicine and law?

Quick question, but why unmask over grief?
Unmask can target yourself to put a creature in the graveyard.
@@ThrabenUniversity Ah, that makes sense

I'm totally game with playing Obliterator in Legacy. Right now though, there's a ton of white exile removal around since the Initiative is everywhere.
