I love it when music teachers or composers or musicians do reaction videos. I find your comments (even criticisms sometimes) actually help me hear things I didn't hear before, and appreciate things I may have missed. One of the best critical/technical reviews I've ever seen of a PTX video is composer Rob Capilow's review of Angels We Have Heard On High. It really educated me on some of the technical ways PTX stands out and how something I felt instinctively was cool was actually musically and technically brilliant. And yes, Mitch’s harmonies add a really cool element to the song. I’m obsessed and can’t stop listening! So glad you’re enjoying Pentatonix! They are one of the best bands in the world.
I like how you pointed out the cinematography when they're all together...but they're not all together. They were all filmed separately and then put together digitally. You can tell by the lighting and how Kirstie is more focused. I think they're still recording separately and then blending it all in post, which is incredible that they can blend so beautifully even when singing alone. I definitely recommend their recent originals, particularly Happy Now. That one sounds like it should be on the radio. It truly upsets me that they don't get more radio play because they're acapella.
I agree with you so much about the radio play! They have such an amazing sound and I really wish they could get more attention and recognition that they deserve for what they are creating.
Wonderful performance by PTX as always. Loved that Kirstie got a chance to do the lead. Looking forward to you doing tons more PTX. There is so much fantastic stuff they have done.

Love, Love, Love the way you break down the song and the theatrics. I know nothing about music other than I like it or not, but the way you explain and appreciate the artistry of the musicians is beautiful and your enthusiasm is contagious . Your critique of the song gives me knowledge about music I wouldn't have the opportunity to receive. Also keep that great smile you have uit shows you truly enjoy your work. Never forget that you're teaching people like myself about the intricacies of music, much appreciated. Thanks
Absolutely love your Pentatonix reactions. Your insights allow me to enjoy their music even more, so please keep reacting to more of their amazing music. Thanks!
They seem to be really comfortable in their own skin doing their own thing it's great to see. They are able to maintain a very high level of originality. When you can't imagine a group being any better and they do it again and again well.. that's a very very special thing. ..
Lucky duck not getting blocked!! WooHoo! Great reaction! The group shot seemed to be each member filmed separately & superimposed on top of each other. Probably still social distancing. But wow. Just wow. Their versatility & creativity is breathtaking!
OK, I am stoked that you picked up on all of the subtle evidences of their multiple talents. You will find that we Pentaholics are extremely passionate about Ptx - not just their songs, but because we already know that the reason for their fame & popularity is that aside from each of them being out-of-this-world talented in their individual right, there is a magic that exists when they sing together. Building on that statement, they have a collective ability to know how to put music together in such a way that best showcases that magic. They are creative geniuses & you can see how they produce their videos to show their perfectionism. They are NEVER lazy when arranging music, & you'll never hear a sloppy note anywhere in their performances. Also, each individual can perform many functions & back each other up well. For instance, when Matt is singing lead, Scott can take over bass like a pro. You are just starting out, so you are in for such a journey of discovery. Prepare to have your mind blown! My suggestions for the next few songs to react to are: Daft Punk, Halleluja, Mary, Did You Know and (because you are a fellow choir/music nerd & will appreciate what they are able to do verbally) I suggest you listen to "Run to You", one of their originals, a very soft & emotional song. After that, they do a killer version of The Sound if Silence & Shallow. There are so, so many. And they are ALL good, as Ptx is incapable of recording a song that is anything but phenomenal. So you can pretty much close your eyes and point and you can't go wrong. Enjoy this journey! We WILL be on it with you!!! Much love, Mama BJ (Bev)
I think you'd really enjoy some of the older stuff such as "Valentine" or their beautiful cover of "Imagine". I truly enjoy watching your reactions as you give not only your reactions but also expertise and it makes me appreciate things i wouldnt have noticed otherwise. Great reaction!
I absolutely love it when mitch takes over the harmonies, double stoked over this because kirstie takes the lead for the whole song. Super in love with this track💕✨
This was shot during Covid lockdown and they weren't together when it was filmed. They all came in and did their parts separately. So when you see them all together in those few shots, that to me is some amazing editing in the video department. LOL. Want to hear some great PTX originals, listen to "Sing" ,"Natural Disaster", "Love Again", "Run to You" (which was written by Kevin-the beatboxer and Avi).
A lot of people are referencing Enya’s ‘Orinoco Flow’ which is do hear and I am a fan of her music but I hear an 80’s vibe which pre-dates Enya. This is a fabulous original song written by Kirsten and can’t wait for the album in February 2021. Always nice to hear a musicians take on their music because as a fan to PTX we are always mesmerised by what they can do with their voices and that there are usually no instruments or auto tune. PTX are truly incredible, they really should be better known, being RUclips sensation is one thing but being a band in their own right is something else, I’m hoping the forthcoming album release will jettison them to more than just RUclips!
Thanks for reacting so fast to this PTX original. I enjoyed it. Loved the song/video. You would probably like Kirstin's original song "Water" from their first original album. No official video but there are recordings of it on tours. Best is Popspring which was done in Japan for MTV. It has 3 orig songs and an Evolution Michael Jackson medley.
Love your PTX reaction videos. You make really great comments. They are so versatile, you never know what they are going to do next. Just that it will be another must see and hear. 🤗
On a purely visual level-the various methods of "seeing" in video are altered. Prisms, broken mirror, glassware with water, crystal ball, and magnifying glass--all these would Alter her vision when she looks in them, so asking for someone to see clearly while she cannot--very apt symbolism
You need to check out PTX Aha live in Singapore. I think you'll get your mind blown by Mitch's range. I will warn you that there will be distortion due to Avi dropping his lowest note.
So THAT was the weird vibe xDDD I thought "wait, I know this melody" and couldn't get it out of my head, and came done to the comments just to find out if I wasn't alone xD
Again I had to watch twice because I just keep watching you there's something about how your face has this look of..... pure joy I guess is the only word I can use to describe it. It's kinda how I feel when I'm listening to music but watching you is refreshing I'm sure there are videos that you could tear apart but so far I've loved the ones I've seen where you almost look like someone who's hearing music for the first time like you don't want to take a single not for granted it's pretty awesome. Also love the long hair.
Great reaction, thank you - love your insight and ear. Just love this song - It has the feel of an 'Enya' track in the background but it's all mind blowing vocal talent. Eagerly awaiting the next reaction :)
AND... a bass drop by the beatboxing tenor is even more impressive.... Kevin isn't even the bass...so it just shows how supremely talented he is. ! Cheers for taking the time to upload and react for us ! Always much appreciated.
Love your reactions! Music nerds alive. I love your tidbits of technical info, techniques, and terminology. And how you described that wonderful unusual rhythm of the chorus.
Sing is another original of theirs it is very fun and upbeat,, just joy. Love again (techno should be watched after their daft punk cover). Can't sleep love (hard to describe mellow, groovy, a little jazzy and a hint of funk).
I love watching your reaction videos, I watch them with my Dad. We love Pentatonix so they're our favourites. The range of facial expressions you have is literally how I feel listening to Pentatonix too haha. I'd love to see your reactions to some more of their original songs. I really love Love Me When I Don't (which I believe Kirstie co-wrote)...it has a lovely melody, and Coffee in Bed (which I think Scott and Mitch co-wrote) as Matt and Kevin provide such a sick bass and beat. They also, not too long ago, released a 90s dance medley - it would be interesting to see what you think of that! It's currently on repeat in my car 😂
I hadn't thought of the Pan's Labyrinth reference, but YES you nailed it with that one! Interestingly, this video was shot during the pandemic, so none of them were in the studio at the same time...all video layering. Kirstie wrote this song and apparently had a lot to do with the arrangement as well. I LOVE how she's coming out of her shell lately.
I always comment on PTX when I see their videos. This time I'm not because your take on music and the comments you make about everything from the sounds and visuals have brought your reactions to the top of the line for us. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
I love your perceptions of all the details plus extensive technical know-how on both the music and and the video. I feel like both PTX and the producers/video director would be so happy.
I just discovered your channel. Man you are definitely fire in your reactions. I do not have the music background that you appear to have, but my love for music and picking things apart are very similar. I appreciate the knowledge you share. I've watched a few of your vids now, and yeah, you have something I want to see more of. If I offered some other groups to listen to, I would say more of Voice Play, Geoff Castalucci from VP, Home Free, Peter Hollens, and Voctave. I feel you would enjoy the technical sides of their talents. Glad I found your channel. Stay true. Be well.
one song that absolutely always blows me away is Run To You - it's so amazing and it's early Pentatonix so from the get-go they were so incredible. Also if you get the chance, listen to Mitch & Scott's side project Superfruit singing Katy Perry's Rise - it's mind blowing
Great reaction and super on time! If you wanna hear more of their originals, please do Run To You. It’s an oldie but it’s a masterpiece in voice, harmonies and emotion.
Not knocking this song at all, but the first time I heard it, I heard “Orinoco Flow”. It’s not exact, but it definitely makes me think they could cover such a song well; similar tune and energy.
Check out Homefree. They are another a capella groupan they are amazing. Tim Foust their bass has like a five octave range and has hit some of the lowest notes I've heard. You can start with their cover Mayday or How great thou art. They have many covers and original songs.
I would like to point out Mitch is comparable to David Bowie and Freddy Mercury in style and in vocal range( is Mezzo Tenor a thing? Well for Mitch it is). Still more impressive is that this was all done with the Covid19 isolating in place, IE: each one was recorded at separate locations. Which proves again these 5 performers are REALLY fantastic.
Another surprise coming out Fri 10/16 ..connected with new full album THE LUCKY ONES (All originals!.. release date Feb 2021) of which BE MY EYES is the second cut on the album..
Love the analysis. If you like this original, I highly recommend Happy Now which is the other original that came out recently. Off to find some ninjas to fight now... 🤺

Nothing Pentatonix does is lazy. Their attention to detail in music and video production is astounding. Nothing they do is by chance or accident.
Wonderful performance by PTX as always. Loved that Kirstie got a chance to do the lead. Looking forward to you doing tons more PTX. There is so much fantastic stuff they have done.
Love your reaction, I saw a little put off this song in the beginning, but the more I hear it, and truly listen to the words, I am lovin it. THis is a love song to a partner, basically saying THANK you for being there for me!!!
Avi drops the bombs in their "Gold"
Gold is fantastic. They make it look so effortless, when the original was so heavily produced.
Great song and a great review, I don't know why someone would give this a thumbs down. I guess somebody had a bad day. Really enjoyed your perspective on this.
Just came from rewatching your reaction to Hallelujah!
Thank you for supporting my videos so much!
YAY! I am so stoked to see your same day reaction to this! I love your reactions, because as I have repeatedly listened to this today, you pointed out many things that I missed and now my listening will be so much more enjoyable as I hear the things you pointed out!! Thanks so much! Love, love love the reaction and this fantastic video.
This was recorded socially distant. Shots of them together are edited. Even harder too sing one's part, I would think.
I just happen to see you on you tube as I was looking for this. I loved seeing it with you for the first time. . Now to buy it. And listen a hundred times.
Thanks
Great reaction! You caught it early...yesss! This is awesome! Spot on DJ! Keep up with this phenomenal reactions!
Absolutely love your Pentatonix reactions. Your insights allow me to enjoy their music even more, so please keep reacting to more of their amazing music. Thanks!
They seem to be really comfortable in their own skin doing their own thing it's great to see. They are able to maintain a very high level of originality. When you can't imagine a group being any better and they do it again and again well.. that's a very very special thing.
..
Wow... you’re the second reaction video I’ve seen of this video. You’re fast!
I was trying my best for you guys! :)
Lucky duck not getting blocked!! WooHoo! Great reaction! The group shot seemed to be each member filmed separately & superimposed on top of each other. Probably still social distancing. But wow. Just wow. Their versatility & creativity is breathtaking!
Heavy, heavy Enya vibes(That's a good thing!).

Valentine is one of my favorites, too.
LOL. Want to hear some great PTX originals, listen to "Sing" ,"Natural Disaster", "Love Again", "Run to You" (which was written by Kevin-the beatboxer and Avi).
so creative in their choices
so authentic - so good
A lot of people are referencing Enya’s ‘Orinoco Flow’ which is do hear and I am a fan of her music but I hear an 80’s vibe which pre-dates Enya.
I was struggling to remember Enya and went on the whole internet search pinball, didn’t realize this was original song by PTX
Nice! So exciting time to be a PTX fan!!!
So excited for this as in just getting started!!!
so cool to see so many people like this song,so great to see some insights about this song.
You need to check out PTX Aha live in Singapore. I think you'll get your mind blown by Mitch's range. I will warn you that there will be distortion due to Avi dropping his lowest note.
His head might explode
@@ambeauty2001 lol yup.
Avi blew his speaker with that note.
@@heidifruchtl354 and that wasn't the only time. Lol. He's awesome.
@@goarmy5022 I know, but I don't think all of the blown speakers were recorded.
After the first handful of notes I thought this was an Enya cover...
I'm with you on this i felt it definitely had an Enya feel. Hi all you Pentaholics from Australia.
Yeah, it has a sound reminiscent of Orinoco Flow, I think.
So THAT was the weird vibe xDDD
I thought "wait, I know this melody" and couldn't get it out of my head, and came done to the comments just to find out if I wasn't alone xD
It's definitely Orinoco Flow as the backing melody
@@harrywatson9731 Right back at you from the West Coast of Oz Harry ! 🐨
Mitch and Scott are also Superfruit....check out The Promise.
Enjoyed the song and your great analysis
I’ll be listening to this some hundred of times more...
Happy to be a Pentaholic!
Ohhhh I got serious Enya (Orinocco Flow / Sail Away) vibes off this & that's AWEOME! Loved this! Kirsten was simply stunning!
Great reaction, thank you - love your insight and ear. Just love this song - It has the feel of an 'Enya' track in the background but it's all mind blowing vocal talent. Eagerly awaiting the next reaction :)
Excellent reaction. Loved it
AND... a bass drop by the beatboxing tenor is even more impressive.... Kevin isn't even the bass...so it just shows how supremely talented he is. ! Cheers for taking the time to upload and react for us ! Always much appreciated.
There is so many layers to this video. Love how the visual background elements compliment the vocals and the lyrics.
Ur reactions is one of the few genuine and smooth reaction videos on RUclips
What an amazing and kind thing to say. Thank you.
I was blessed almost to be online when thisng very first was played. I listened to it about 6 times before I moved on.

Great reaction!!
Great song and fantastic reaction - I learn something every time from you! Thank you
and Mary did you know is also great
Love your take on this! When you listen again and break down all the elements, I’d love you to share that too!
I just discovered you with this video and can't wait to watch more.
It's worth listening to Imagin and Aha. Like everythink is amazing. Love Pentatonix
Outstanding analogy of the music and I've become a subscriber. I love taking apart songs as a musician/composer.
Great reaction. Thanks!
Did you know Scott does the arrangements for their music? His interpretation of songs, covers or originals, is exceptional.
Fascinating. I didn't know he did that.
LostJedi26 it was first discussed when they were on The Sing-off, then in other interviews, too. He is exceptionally talented.
Would love to see you react to ptx's Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy
I have to comment and agree with a previous comment that you NEED TO watch “Run To You,” another original. It’s beyond description. So beautiful.
Kirstie is the only credited writer on this song
One of their very first originals (if not THE first) is Run to You. It has some killer harmonies. Definitely give that one a listen.
Can you feel the love tonight by pentatonix is just amazing

Your voice is like velvet, great reactions too 😊thankyou
Not knocking this song at all, but the first time I heard it, I heard “Orinoco Flow”. It’s not exact, but it definitely makes me think they could cover such a song well; similar tune and energy.
Almost the same pizzicato and chord progression but I love it!
Yes. The first thing I heard was the tuned tympani sound, which Enya uses extensively.
Orinoco Flow is exactly what I thought - the backing is very similar!
Thankyou. I knew I recognized it but couldn't think of the name of the song.
They released new cover. Amazing Grace. Outstanding
Check out Homefree. They are another a capella groupan they are amazing. Tim Foust their bass has like a five octave range and has hit some of the lowest notes I've heard. You can start with their cover Mayday or How great thou art. They have many covers and original songs.
No, don't start with Mayday. Keep that in the pocket until you get to know them better.

Still want you to react to more originals. Run to You & Sing. 2 polar opposites. 2 great songs. Great reaction
PTX always amazing. But this is just so smooth with its Enya Orinoco Flow vibe. So beautiful.
Wow! You are so fast!
Love the analysis. If you like this original, I highly recommend Happy Now which is the other original that came out recently. Off to find some ninjas to fight now... 🤺

"Happy Now" is another great original
