My parents immigrated to Australia in the 1950's, jobs were abundant and homes were affordable in Sydney... Today... I can't believe the stat, 10000 people a month made homeless! Both major Federal parties are at fault here.

and they had enough land to grow some veges... maybe even a market garden... everywhere you went, orchards, animals, spaces... "granny smith" apple originated in eastwood... go have a look out there NOW...
every day, more and more arable land, or floodplain, with "housing estates" popping up willy nilly. roads not being made, or improved. local road, one intersection is now a 2km traffic jam morning and night, whta was just fields full of crops, cows, FOOD, is now endless grey roofing.
no dams. no cemeteries. no venues such as race tracks or parks or other forms of entertainment. its not just jobs and homes, its the "quality of life" in ALL aspects thats being destroyed, rapidly.

This is not incompetence. Even someone who is fairly incompetent would realize by now they're doing a great deal of harm to their citizens and reverse course. No. This by design, and they have absolutely no intention of stopping. Let that sink in.

How is he allowed to get away with this , while he buys a 4 million dollar holiday home. What a hypocrite, who loves taking the piss out of Aussie's.😮

Craig I mostly agree with your comments. However it was the Howard-era 'reforms' of introducting a 50% CGT benefit and negative gearing policy which applied to new and existing dwellings which brought in the speculators, and priced everyday Aussies out of the dream of owning a quarter acre block and building a new home. After Howard's 'reforms', an average suburban home which cost $280k in 1998 costs almost $1m today. And that's thanks to John Howard.

Many will continue to vote for the uni-party even after they have graduated to tent living. They are persistent.

its not just houses. its the roads, the farms, the parks, teh cemeteries, the sports fields.... whats the point of having a home if you cant get out of your driveway? if you have no lawn to at least roll on? if the quality of life when you walk outside is just misery? spend all day at the office, then stuck in traffic, paying through the nose to sit in a traffic jam so you can pay off the house you never get to enjoy anyway?
complain about increasing food costs yet the food has to travel further, and the farmers make less every day as they get forced further and further out, into land declared unsuitable for agriculture decades ago.
areas cordoned off and listed for things like railway corridors, or main roads, now sold off to the highest bidder for more "developments". what happened to carlingford, telopea, and camellia? was supposed to be connected, not cut off then removed.
    .
rosehill racecourse, been there for years, a nice open area in teh middle of hell... what happens when its built on as theyre planning on doing?
how long until eastern creeks gone? they took oran park. amaroo park. parra speedway. now we have kids riding motorbikes on one wheel down main roads like "cowpastures"... what was formerly a quiet rural area, is now a hideous endless vision of despair...
go out to lindfield, see all the heritage homes, beautiful architecture, leafy avenues, torn down, turned into soon to be ghettos full of miserable, scowling faces, noone looking up from their phone, all chasing some empty dream of "money money money"...
place down in ryde i had to deliver to, a ten, fifteen year old estate... all the cladding falling off the walls, pallets of pavers and hardened bags of cement on teh footpath, the "landscaped" gardens and ponds all overgrown, full of green scum, or drained due to the leaking, the inadequate waterproofing, the cost of maintenance... hell, there was a entire elevated staircase and walkway that had completely COLLAPSED and they had just thrown a bit of fencing across it... "do not enter"...
everything being built now will be the same in a few years... mascot towers... castle hill... macquarie park... quickly erected, and poorly built highrise where the foundations are collapsing before the first tenants have even moved in...
politicians in cahoots with real estate agents, self vested interests in development, investment properties...
the whole house of cards is going to come crashing down and theres nothing we can do about it.
sydney harbour bridge... anyone else look at all the rust? the peeling paint? the random patches that look like someones given a spray can of "cold gal" and told to go "spray it somewhere"?
and what happens when it reaches its end of life, as it will inevitably do? any alternative routes in place? any plans for when it needs rebuilding, replacing? lets not start on all the various suburbs where a simple bridge spanning 50M or so could almost instantly remove 90% of the traffic congestion simply by giving people an alternate route instead of EVERYONE being forced to use ONE single lane road...
havent been out to beaconsfield/alexandria for a while... have they finished that tiny stretch of road they were building between bowen and botany roads? a mere 50M at most. and all i saw for three years was nothing much taking place... and how about "alexandria lakes", that section of botany road that floods every time it rains? (it may be bourke street...as i said, been a few years...)
what about dams? water supply? the power? electricity? what happens when all the solar panels have to be disposed of? what happened to buildings designed to use natural effects like location, to deal with the heat, or the cold, rather than rely on AC units?
what happened to PLANNING FOR A FUTURE?
