As a kid we didn't think anything of that, but it turns out that it WAS! It was just like this, but on a huge scale. I only found that out recently. The shot was into a big structure maybe the size of a house, the walls were screen. It all came out at once! I've seen a lot of videos where this popcorn cannon is on the street in a market. If I ever get to visit such a market, I'm going to buy some for sure!

Its only like 8 psi. The explosive action is only cuz of the release of that pressure. That container can easily handle 150 psi
