    Elvis, David Bowie, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Ike & Tina Turner, Bob Seger, John Fogerty, Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Lou Reed, Rod Stewart, Deep Purple, Motorhead, AC/DC have name-checked Little Richard as an early influence on their music careers.
    Elvis, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan began their careers doing Little Richard covers.
    Unfortunately, while these most of these artists had access to radio and television to promote their reimagining's of Little Richard's songs, stage presence, and clothing and makeup, Little Richard's access was segregated. He watched other artists adopt his hard work for their own gain and recognition.
    This is why Michael Jackson returned his publishing rights to him free of charge. Michael Jackson was the one person who put a stop to the exploitation.
    Today, whenever someone covers a Little Richard song, Little Richard gets paid. The true King of Rock & Roll gets his just due.
    Shut up!

    • @RafaelAlivtres
      @RafaelAlivtres 8 лет назад +6

      +McQueenPress Elvis began his career in 1954. It is true that he covered some of Little Richard's songs but later on when Elvis was already worldwide famous (1956).

    • @littlejimmyscumbag2551
      @littlejimmyscumbag2551 8 лет назад +6

      +McQueenPress Actually Elvis has never called Little Richard an influence and he only covered two of his songs. Little Richard in turn covered more than 5 Elvis songs. Elvis started in 1954 when Little Richard was not famous at the time. Little Richard had his first break in 1955 with Tutti Frutti. Elvis was inspired by people much earlier than Little Richard like Hank Williams and Arthur Crudrup.

    • @McQueenPress
      @McQueenPress 8 лет назад +23

      Elvis was inspired by black singers and musicians playing in the shanties. He said so. He admitted no one else paid attention until he "goosed up" their music. They were not famous, they were in shanties, but Elvis admitted to their influence on his music. Also, due to segregated radio, many black rock and roll artists went unnoticed, but Elvis's manager made a calculated decision to bring their sound to Elvis and make lots of money, to which he also admitted.

    • @littlejimmyscumbag2551
      @littlejimmyscumbag2551 8 лет назад +4

      McQueenPress That's a quote from Jet Magazine, a black gossip magazine. No more credible than the National Enquirer or any othr gossip site. Elvis never actually said that.
      Elvis did however saw, on a radio interview (where you can clearly hear his voice and prove he did say it) that he was influenced by "negro spirituals." I think he said this in Vancouver.
      However Elvis being influenced by black gospel music doesn't take away his influence from country music, white gospel music (which is the same as black gospel), ballad music among many other forms of music.
      You can't call Love Me Tender, Can't Help Falling In Love, It's Now or Never, Surrender, Don't, among hundreds of other Elvis songs "black songs." Elvis was diverse, he sang all forms of music which is why he surpassed every black entertainer and every white entertainer. All the black entertainers could only do "black music" and all the white entertainer could only do "white music." Elvis could do everything from country, blues, ballad, pop, gospel, Latin, German, folk music, etc.

    • @McQueenPress

      In 1951, Ike Turner walked into Sam Phillips' studio in Memphis, Tenn. and, along with his band, helped create a sound that still echoes through history like thunder across the sky. The original song they recorded, Rocket 88, may well have been the first rock 'n' roll record, and in the years that followed, innumerable music reference sources, from The New Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll ("frequently cited as the first rock & roll record") to the website of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum ("widely considered the first rock and roll record"), have backed up that title.

    Michael gave Little Richard his publishing rights because he was cheated out of millions of dollars by the recording industry... Yes. He GAVE Litlle Richard his own rights back for nothing. Just because Michael was an honest, hard working artist. He knew what Litlle Richard had to struggle through and got screwed over by the 'men in suits' of the hard music industry.. Can you imagine not owning anything you make? You work for? THAT was the kind of man Michael was. Thats the man I love.

    Richard forgot to mention that Jimi Hendrix stole his look, in the early part of Hendrix' career. If you watch the video of Jimi Plays Monterey, you can clearly see that he is emulating the flamboyance with the feather boa, you can see the pencil mustache, and you can feel the demeanor of Little Richard in Jimi at that time. Hendrix was of course in Little Richard's band, just a few years previous to the Monterey performance.

      Esquerita was before Little Richard. Michael and Prince were primarily influenced by James Brown and James was influenced by Little Richard (started out sort of as a Little Richard impersonator. They had the same manager). Prince was also directly influenced by Little Richard as far as his looks and his showmanship.

    When Little Richard was hospitalized from the auto accident (Oct. 1985), LR said of Bob Dylan: "He [Dylan] sat by my bed; he didn't move for hours. I was in pain that medicine couldn't stop" (Waters interview). In Dylan's acceptance speech into R & R Hall of Fame, Bob Dylan thanked Little Richard and said, "...I don't think I would even have started out without listening to Little Richard." (Ytube, Dylan acceptance speech, 1988).

    When MJ went off on his own: for all the reasons known by now; he was cautioned by his favourite brother, Jermaine, that he didn't know what he would be getting involved in. MJ was very sensitive, intelligent & creative, but he was, like I was, very naive about the real World's darker side! First, let's get something general clear: criminals with money are only mediocre-minded creeps willing to promote real talent. Other types of rich people are too conceited and unappreciative. Few exceptions.

    For the next time, I demand to you God.... to make Little Richard, James Brown, Michael Jackson, and Prince collaborate in a song. Sing a song altogether. Make it happen!!!!
