That Teen Titans finale genuinely makes me sad.
Happy Saturday everyone! Yes, yes I know this was the most voted video idea, but I work on these videos months in advance so apologies for it being so late. Anyways, I took a break for the holidays, but now I’m back for new and improved content! Here’s to 2018! :)

same, I never even knew it existed until this video.
The Gnomes' death is sad but if you have to have character death, dying with the person you love surrounded by the nature you respect so much seems like the best way to go
Exactly; I would rather die with the ones I love than to live alone, humbly & with respect.
Yeah plus it's not the worst way a kid's show has portrayed death
I give that title to Captain Planet with the drug episode
The onscreen death via overdose was a good way to get their message across but it went too far for a kid's show in my opinion
Kim Jong-un is right. You should run as a dictator in some country where it has a tall volcano. That volcano is the perfect place to go in a big bada bang bada boom!
Thank you Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un! Glory to Best Korea!

Stupid cartoon. I felt that.
It’s Just A Burning Memory
And the last episode of Teen Titans is to teach everyone a lesson about how the things we see in our past don't always stay the same and we have to move on with our lives. Even if we don't want to let go.
I felt that quote especially as a trans man. I don't have transphobic parents. But if I did that's what I would say to them.

I actually kinda liked the ALF finale. The goodbye scenes with him and the family were really sweet, and the idea of the government finale capturing the cat-eater sounds like a very intriguing cliffhanger! If only they could have continued it.
pretty sure project Alf continues it
@@etersoil24 yeah but then, the fan are so angry about it that they rather think that the movie is not Canon to the series
Why is it bad?

I don't know why people say it was a kid show when they occasionally swear and two episodes that involve the usage of drugs in the form of thornoids (steroids) and a random "happy plant" that they found in the woods.

dinosaurs ending is haunting. ive never watched it as a kid, but the fact that it ended with their extinction was a bit clever too.
That is how it actually ended though
Dinosaurs were doomed to be gone from the start. If you want to make history, now is your chance.
Fun fact: That was actually not intended to be the ending. It was cancelled due to low ratings, and this episode just morbidly happened to be the last one.
>jim hanson changes the ending from "the witches" where the boy instead of living as a mouse becomes a boy again because it was too dark
>kills everybody in the dinosaurs
Well, to be fair, he died before Dinosaurs was made. The show did have his usual crew though.
His son Brian Henson worked on the show lol
Jim Henson was dead before the Sinclairs were.
Perfectly balanced as all life should be.
I used to hate the Titans finale, but re watching it as an adult I really enjoy it. It's kinda left up to interpretation if she really has any memories or not. It could be an effect of being freed from the stone. It could be psychological. I personally think she remembers everything, but denies it, not wanting any part of the life that led her to do horrible things. She wants a clean start and unfortunately that means cutting Beastboy out of her life.
I am with you on Terra. While I don't or never did have any feelings on the idea of the finale of the show, I do like the possibilities that maybe she either 'did' remember her life before being turned to stone, and as you say, she wanted nothing to do with her old life and wanted to start fresh, or, since she was turned to stone, she had her memory wiped and had no memory of who she was.
Yeah I think terra remembers everything and based on her conversation with beast boy she just changed as a person I also think that beast boy remembers things differently too it could’ve been a case of him only remembering the good times but not that bad the last line she says to him kinda hints towards that
@@jadedemperor2820 I don't think he remembers events incorrectly. It's the line:
"You were so happy back then."
That's what he remembers wrong.
Terra was never happy. She may have successfully hid it from him, but her being happy, actually happy was what wasn't correct.
Eh, I still say it didn't need to exist
List
7:Eddy dream's up the entire show
6: the power rangers are defeated and zordons kidnapped
5: Terra losses her memories

Thanks Italy, thank you for your fear of showing something a bit more serious to kids and literally cutting entire episodes for not showing a minor act of violence like a slap.

David the Gnome was an excellent show, and I think that finale was actually well framed to teach this concept to children.
i agree
I agree, but every time I see or think of it, I just start bawling my eyes out.
I never ever watched the show but the clip here is making me bawl my eyes out.
Yeah, the way they made the deaths so peaceful without any regrets is very beautiful. I think it's a great way to explain death to kids in a gentle way, that can open up good discussions.
@@Kn1feShift That being said, seeing Swift have to watch them go makes me cry. And I've definitely watched people go myself.

I think the ending for “the world of David the Gnome” was quite nicely done. As you say it is important for children to learn about death as it is inevitable, and this was done very sweetly with them reincarnating into beautiful trees at the top of a hill. They both accepted the end and left holding each other with a smile on their face.

I think both David the Gnome and Dinosaurs endings are very good. The David the Gnome is very good, while the Dinosaurs one is a huge red flag on the dangers of industry and geoengineering, very relevant today. Teen Titans one was also fine about not wanting to "rescue" that which cannot be "saved".
Still wish they finished it with a Starfire season.

Especially back in the 90s, when the ozone layer was troubling many scientists.
I like the implication that Terra really DID have her memories all along and she was pretending she couldn't remember anything to just have a normal life. She failed at being a superhero, she let herself become a supervillain -- and although she sacrificed herself to set things right, she's really not good at either. Her powers were just too unstable and she had too many insecurities to be a hero OR a villain. The happiest ending for her was to just forget it all and have an ordinary life and it's what she tried to do.
19:11 OK yes this is a sad ending but how you said everyone fucking dies in dinosaurs made me burst out laughing
Smol Sammich Me too
I always thought to myself that Terra didin't really lost her memories, she was just tired of dealing with everything she's been through.
She wanted to escape and start over, trying to let go of her guilt.
So, even thou she likes Beast Boy and is happy to see him well, his attempts to "recover her memory" are just hurting her.
Thats a good theory
Terra did the RIGHT decision. She got older, hit puberty, started focusing on boys, school projects, trying to find new clothing styling attire, started a new youtube account, got a new cell phone from mommy and daddy was going to get her a new laptop as well. Women mature faster than men. Fact!

Either way, my previous statement still stands; You need to touch grass kid.
@@xxXxBluecheddarxXxx
Oh my lord, are you serious?
If you watch the episode/show, heII the video even tells you, that Lumpus does this out of sheer laziness, it's a defining trait of his through out the show. He hated laundry day so he *secretly* painted his clothes on *hoping no one would notice so he secretly wouldn't have to do laundry anymore,* but the kids caught on and thought it was cool so he spilled the idea so the whole camp doesn't have to bother with laundry, and so that he could further get away with not doing it.
Also in general, he hates the kids at the the camp (in fact he hate everyone) and has a crush on the *adult* *female* girl scout troopleader neighboring their camp. There's your proof buddy, look it up.
How you view this is less about not touching grass and more about getting your head out of your @SS.

I remember watching the finale of Dinosaurs when it originally aired. I think I was twelve or thirteen. I was blown away as they huddled in their house while the snow kept falling.
That ish blew my mind when I saw it myself. It's almost like a foreshadow of the human race.

I'd maybe say bittersweet. It had to end but the weren't afraid or sad; they were just grateful for a life well lived.
@@Headless_Bill They did seem a bit sad, but at least they were grateful and so many animals accompanied him, his wife, and his friend.
I personally think that the Gnome ending is actually not all that bad. I mean, sure, the main characters die but In my opinion the show deals with death in a very healthy way. The gnomes know that their time on earth is over and aren't sad about it, they accept it knowing that they've had a fullfilled life. It shows children that while death may be painful and saddening, it's not always a bad thing. People can accept death and that scene came off as more serene than dark. I think it wasn't meant to traumatise children or anything like that.
He left out that in the series David is ALWAYS helping the sick and wounded. It's not like it turned dark all of a sudden. It was always with a dark flavor of reality.
The stupid fox got to me 😂
0Diazzz0 See? That just shows that the gnomes spent their life's helping others in need, and that just really justifies them being okay with death.
David Rogers Same I love foxes and this one's sadness makes me very sad too
Fräulein Zuckerguss I completely agree with you. I think it was rather bittersweet but healthy. Death is a natural part of life and the fact that they confronted and did a good job representing it only helps prove the quality of work the writers and staff were going for. If I had any children of my own that's something I would love to have them watch.
Damn that gnome scene actually made me cry

In the gnomes show, it actually sent a message, when someone or something does, new life is born. Although it’s sad, sometimes it’s okay to be sad, but be happy of the memories you made along the way.
I agree. Kids like me watching that back in the late 80s needed to understand everyone dies one day.

I think the teen titans finale is very bittersweet and even more depressing if you believe that Terra hasn’t actually lost her memory, and is just trying to start a new life and let the titans continue as they’ve moved on.

I've never heard of that gnome show, but I thought that ending was nothing short of beautiful.
I was a child in the 1980s, and I remember a Gnomes tv movie. But where I lived, ( way out in the boonies), we didn't have cable, and only one person in our neck of the woods had a satellite dish. I only saw Nickelodeon when I stayed over at a friend's house in town. We didn't get cable until the early 2000s-2010.
I use to love that show, 80s baby
It was one fo the best ending for a cartoon. The whole series was really good.
I didn't know they aired that show outside of my country. It's extremely well known here in Spain.
I loved that show as a kid
I really relate to the finale of teen titans. Sometimes as you grow up, friendships just end abruptly, with no clear cut answer. We’re just left dumbfounded asking, what happened to this person I knew? It can be a hard pill for a young kid to swallow, realizing that the people you grew up with are on their own paths in life, and our own expectations don’t even enter the equation
Well my lesson is learned.
*Don’t. F*ck. With. Nature.*
Cristina Renteria I made the mistake of watching this whilist playing a kid friendly game that is, technically, post-apocolyptic.
Humans went extinct, and based on the fact there is so much more water and it is literally always summer even when celebrating the characters' own version of Christmas, this is presumably due to us f*cking with nature. So now that lesson has just been doubled.

Not a series finale nor season finale but one of the darkest episodes that I love is the Southern Air Temple from Book 1 of Avatar the Last Airbender. Not just because it's the episode Aang figures out that his people are gone because of the Fire Nation, but also seeing the skeletons of the firebenders piled in the room with Gyatso makes the viewers figure out what Gyatso did. He used an advanced technique where he suffocated the room (no air, no fire). Thus by doing that, he sacrificed his life. In Legend of Korra, we see Zaheer doing something similar to the Earth Queen, and attempted to do the same thing to Korra in Book 3's finale.
This came out great! Thanks again for having me on, dude!
Always amazing seeing you on other channels

I doubt any legal trade off had to occur for Heffer to be in Camp Lazlo as the character never gets named as such and only subtly indicates who they are via a loose catchphrase.
I always thought it was odd that one network would sue the other network for using heffer when they are both own by the same company
I wonder if something similar will happen for the new PBS Kids show from the same creator this fall.
I remember watching the finale to "Dinosaurs". Me and my brothers were huddled together in my room. We just sat there with our mouths to the ground as the camera pulled away from the Sinclair's snow-covered house. We were like "this can't be" and then the news reporter says " goodnight....and goodbye" and we were just stunned. We couldn't believe it. We immediately ran out and told our parents and even THEY couldn't believe it. Wow. Just...wow. Even now I'm stunned thinking about it. Today I see it as a cautionary tale but 9 year old me only saw it as a sad ending to an otherwise great show.
When i was little i just took one look at those dinosaurs and decided to run away and keep them as far away as possible. Which is funny because in my teens i started to get addicted to stop motion movies. I know it´s not the same, but i think a kid would deem it equally creepy looking.
@@gloom_bug I think it was a good move. Seeing things like this shows ending, or movies like Fern Gully, and Once Upon a Forest had a profound impact on me as a child. Not everything for kids should be mindless entertainment, if anything that is worse for their minds.
I watched the show as a kid. I must have been about 5 at the time it aired. I remember watching it and being stunned at how much damage the dad did to the environment as his job. I mean, even as a kid I could tell where the show was going to go with it. I had expected that sort of end considering how weird the show was. I had nightmares sometimes, expecting episodes with them eating pre-historic man or something.
I know a guy, initials DT, that might need to see this episode. He may also need some help understanding it
@Courtenay Blair Take your NeverTrumper bullshit somewhere else, hag. Getting really friggin’ tired of seeing politics injected into damn near everything these days. 🤬
"Everyone fucking dies in Dinosaurs." I love how casual he says it.
I find Dinosaurs to be especially ironic, given that they once staged a mock PSA with the message to "help put a stop to preachy sitcom endings."
..."Howard Handupme".
That's hysterical. Always good to know writers are able to make a combination pseudo-hidden puppet reference / innuendo in a kid-friendly show.
Methrael does it mean what I think it means?

I feel so bad for laughing when he said it cause EVERYONE DIES!!!! i should not be laughing!
In the episode “slugfest” we’re treated to a flashback of camp kidney being built with lumpus hiring slinkman. There wasn’t even a closet for Hefer to be locked in. That’s one of the biggest plot holes in camp lazlo in my opinion.
I almost cried when I saw the gnome one
Miles Lemauy same. I’m afraid of death.
+Richie Osborn I only cried from the poor crying fox.
then about 5 seconds later: *_EVERYONE FUCKING DIES_*
Can you cry watching the deaths of two gnomes who had zero impact on your childhood?
Yes, apparently.
Jason C. Spain's got somethin goin on over there. I don't know what tho
Yes
Yes indeed
That's the only one that genuinely made me cry and I was born 20 years after the show
Well David the Gnome DID have an impact on my childhood as I remember watching it on Sundays but I still didn't cry because at lest they became apple trees! In a sense they didn't really die...... They just became another lifeform.
Sometimes when series or films end on a sad note, it's because the story is based on something the writer had experienced in real life-- and they want to show the audience the pain that they, themselves, had gone through. That said, I'm 39 years old and I'm sitting here crying actual tears over the ending of David the Gnome; I remember this series but never saw this episode.
i am 30 years old and I was born in 87 so i was a 90's kid. Although I never particually cared for david the gnome. I always rather watch something else.
But that was sad. I think i remember that ep but didn't understand what was going on!

I was shocked as a kid on how they ended dinosaurs, but it makes total sense now.
*Really depressing death of 2 gnomes*

I'm Crying.
its good that im not the only one.
Monika, pls hug me I'm crying
I went to check the reply cause of my notif and the video started playing again and I was like NO NO NO
I’ve never seen David the Gnome but that ending actually made me cry a little.
THERE JUST GNOMES
silverxstar nvm I just cried
More confirmation it's Heffer: Like Heffer in the original Rocko's Modern Life series, Tom Kenny reprises the role. In fact the idea of Lumpus being a phony scoutmaster with the real one being revealed was actually HIS idea!
And while the Teen Titans finale was painful for Beast Boy, the message of that episode is clear and important, and that is to let go of the past. By holding onto the past, we can't evolve. We can't change the past, but we CAN change the future.
The Dinosaurs ending scarred me as a child... :(
David the Gnome.... It’s sad, but I wouldn’t call it dark. Yes, they died, but it was still a beautiful scene, and dare I say, a beautiful death. They lived a long, fulfilling life, and the time has come, and what better way to go than in the loving arms of your soul-mate, becoming one with nature...
That was really was so beautiful! Made me cry. I'm sad that I missed out on this show growing up - I feel like it would have made me a better person for watching it. :)
that's life
I agree. The Gnomes' death is sad but if you have to have character death, dying with the person you love surrounded by the nature you respect so much seems like the best way to go.
CreditR01 I would maybe even compare it to a death of a beloved grandparent or great-uncle.... You loved them, they were an essential part of your childhood, but this is part of life, and you both bid a fond farewell as they die peacefully around loved ones...
And you move on in life, find happiness (just like Swift did) but you remember the fond memories
I would hardly call that dark ^^;
ToniTheMink I agree
God, the Alf one brought me tears!
I miss it.... :(

yeah but the Alf movie, or at least the experiment sequences, are hilarious

I totally remember watching David the Gnome when I was little. I didn't know *thats* how the show ended. But honestly its a quite beautiful ending.
Wait, What? That was Heffer in the Camp Lazlo Finale?!? No Way!😱
I never would have imagined Heffer to be a scout master. Now I wonder what happened to Rocko.
That shocked me too. Cool actually.
I wonder if either of them will make an appearance in Luna Around the World this year which was also created by the same guy
Does that mean both shows are in the same universe? If so holy cow
I used to watch David The Gnome as a kid back in the day and never saw the series finale until now. I'm almost 37 years old now and had to fight back tears lol
I never seen the world of David the gnome because I'm a mid 20's kid but still the ending made me sad
Man that's a throw back I forgot about
It does, but I like that it doesn’t take the easy road of stand alone episodes and the last on before cancellation is just another episode.
Same with me lol..I'm 35...it was all about eureka castle, picture page with bill cosby😂 then David the gnome and today's special..
So basically David told the fox at the end to continue to get azz and move on to new friends ..🙄
The ending of Power Rangers In Space was far darker, & supposed to be the end of the whole Power Rangers series chain
Zordon’s final scene was crushing
Agreed. The Turbo finale, as dark as it was, was a precursor to something entirely epic. (In Space remains as my all time favorite PR season).
In the Camp Lazlo finale, Heffer's both shaved and naked (so he doesn't resemble how he normally looks) and is also never referred to by name. I'm guessing that's how they got around the legal issues.
It's possible that the series creator, who made both characters, may have retained the copyrights to all or part of Rocko's Modern Life and/or characters within that series which he created and/or penned.
By the way, did you hear that they're bringing back Rocko's Modern Life for a new season (after a LONG hiatus) time-skipped to the present day?
tvline.com/2017/06/22/rockos-modern-life-movie-reunion-nickelodeon-original-voice-cast-2018/
It's a movie? Ah, damn. Got my hopes up. Well, at least it looks like it'll be a good one.
I thought he had mange and his fur falled out in chunks
There is also going to be a monthly comic book continuation called "Rocko's Post-Modern Life" set be released in around February or March.

The last episode of Teen Titans made me cry. I was just a little kid when I watched the show, and I was rewinding the episode over and over because I thought it wasn't the ending. It was depressing...
The Gnome one isn't all that dark and is more beautiful and depressing at the same time.
Yup
Indeed.
Statement Agreed
I think it was only considered dark just because of the audience of 3 years olds who saw it. Probably gave them an existential crisis when they saw it.
@@Nightmare77110 3 year olds has an existential crisis every time mommy goes to the can...
So in The Adventures of David the Gnome, they instantly die at the age of 400 like how in Dinosaurs they just yeeted dinosaurs off cliffs when they turned 72?
Haha dinos go YEEET
TGIF oh you... and next Tapanga cheats on Corie with Shawn.
I remember the episode about the compulsory Dino deaths at the age of 72, quite vividly because I think it must have frightened me a bit. I thought about it again when I watched 'Midsommar'... bit of unconscious plagiarism there perhaps, ha
Its Hurling Day! Its Hurling Day!
@@golddustbin Yeah I read that then I thought of Midsommar
When I watched the Titans finale I really believed that Tera had all her memories but was done with being a hero, and beast boy couldn't take a hint.

Similar thing happen at the season 3.5. The Original Power Rangers didn't have their powers which resulted another team, that I'm not mentioning because I hate them, do the work for them. At the end of Season 3.5, The Original Power Rangers evacuated the command center before it explodeds. Why wasn't that episode Dark?
Just so you know, Joe Murry was planing a crossover between Camp Lazo and Rocco's Modern Life.
However, due to them being on different networks, that was the result.
Fun-Fact: Tom Kenny himself was the one who gave the idea in the first place.
Was it because Tom Kenny was on both shows? He played Heffer on Rocko's Modern Life, and the crazy insane guy Lumpus, from Camp Lazlo too. A show I never liked much to begin with. I always found it WAY too weird, and normally, I don't mind weirdness in cartoons, but Camp Lazlo was basically trying to out-weird every other CN show. Well, it won. But, Ed, 'Edd, 'N Eddy, comes close. But, I'm glad the old man, entire show being a dream thing, wasn't the series finale. I loved watching 'Ed, Edd, 'N Eddy. And the real series finale was much better anyways, and, as much as I will always love the Teen Titans. Beloved show, their final episode just sucked at the end. It was too real, and way too heartbreaking, man. Not that everything needs to have a happy ending or a resolution, but Teen Titans just got screwed over, unfairly, and in so many ways, until Teen Titans: Trouble In Tokyo came out, and then, cleared things up, and then, they got screwed again, by Toddler Titans Go... bad enough that, in the comics, Robin and Starfire don't end up together, Starfire just goes back to her home planet, and Robin becomes an emo version of Nightwing, Raven betrays the Titans, and tries to violently murder them, Cy, I don't know. Same with Beast Boy. But, now? With the Toddler Titans? That's WAAAY worse. Trouble In Tokyo is how the Teen Titans ends, 'nuff said.
