I couldn’t help but notice while you were zoomed in on the U.S. currency at the end just how sloppy the notes are printed. It’s no wonder why I have so many “not an error” videos. It just really stands out after seeing close ups of Canada and Mexico.
Thanks Stu! And yes. Wait until I get to the 2000s - I got a new lens for taking close ups and you can really see the difference between Canada and US and they are both printing on paper.
Another triumph Dan! I was amazed by the Mexican notes; the history, design, security features and more! I think my favorite was the “badass” priest. I do love the Canadian series as that was the series I grew up with spending on summer vacations, but I agree with your assessment and winner. The US notes are I guess tired and true, but they still seem meh 🫤 imho. Anyway great video and a great way to end my work day. Thank you Dan for amazing content!
Thank you my friend, nothing more scary than a badass priest with a cause! Still admire the Birds of Canada issue - simple and elegant. As you know I still appreciate the US even while being frustrated.
I didnt know we had microprinting around the portrait or the security strip on those US note! Neat video. Also loved the fun facts with elevator music…learned a lot 👍 Thanks Dan!
Thanks Joe! You should be proud. The Bank of Mexico has done an amazing job. They really tightened things up for this series but each note is still the same but with the same format. Hope the family is doing well!
Loved it! I screamed Mexico just before you said it so now my family thinks I’m psychic! I do appreciate the history lesson on the U.S currency. Btw: I wouldn’t have referred to it as elevator music. It was more Austin Powers!
Even all mexican banknotes got so much going on them, my number one spot are "Birds of Canada" banknotes! Sometimes less and classy is much better!! Thank you for information!! As always just amazing!! Best regards!!
Yep Mexico did a lot compared to the US. I didn't know the subtle changes to our currency. As always, great series. Looking forward to the US making a comeback.
Those Security strips on the first generation of Security features in the original information barrage about them stated that the threads could just be seen from both sides when held up to a light, or light shown behind them. The color was only added to the New Currency designs aka Monochrome notes, and then some informational sources retroactively started saying that the first generation responded to uv light as well, which is not true. Had you included the Monochrome notes for the US in the 90s, I would have placed US as number 2 behind Mexico.
Yes the security strip information regarding UV came from the BEP - (www.uscurrency.gov/sites/default/files/downloadable-materials/files/en/100-1996-2013-features-en.pdf) and is in error. Thanks Timothy - appreciate the support!
Speaking of BEP errors or intentions not followed, the Monochrome Series had a feature that was supposed to be on every other issue, but in reality, only happened on the first release, the $100. The District mark, I9, was green on the $100, then was supposed to be black on the next new note, but when the third note was released, it continued being black, so ultimately only the $100 had the green District mark.
Is that sarcasm? Have you been hanging around Gunny too much? Your recollection is correct. As a matter of fact all three countries roll out new designs...but put your bronze colored eye glasses on for the USA.
Im sticking with the US notes.I don't know what's going on with Canadian notes No $1,no $2 ,no pennies 🤔.Got to walk around with a bunch of loonies(sounds like Friday night at my bar😆). Mexican notes,Im not into multi color notes, plus, the layout is too random and busy.I like the "paper" we use,the embossing and how the backs look. But to each their own.The Treasury Bldg burned down 3 times,1801,1814,1833,new construction started in 1836 and completed in 1869.I like when you bend the timeline, you're the Dr. Strange of currency 👍BTW,my idea for the 2026 semi quincentennial,is to use Emanuel Leutze's painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware for the $2 reverse,I think it would look badass on there,a perfect 50 year anniversary change for that
I have to start with your last comment first - BEST idea ever and super badass and cool. Beyond the engraving it just can't be that difficult. If they can do it with coins? Understand your points on the Mexican notes - and this series made them uniform. And Dr. Strange Currency - sums me up perfectly!
Not too long ago the northern peso was worth more than mighty dollar. That was when Canada had conservative premier running things. As soon as liberal premier took over, Canadian dollar dropped in value. Back to 70 US cents per Canadian peso. This seesaw might repeat itself if liberals loose the coming elections.
In my opinion it would be a fair word to use - especially from 1963-1995. But really you could go back to 1928 series, especially with Federal Reserve Notes. Show a "non-collector" a 1928 $5 and a 1995 $5 and ask if the they can quickly tell the difference.
Always informative and interesting. ❤Love the Mexican Notes!! ❤
Thanks Ontario - they are beautiful and well thought out.

Another very enjoyable video. And educational.
Thank you, I know you put some time into them.
Thanks Mark - appreciate that you recognize the time but it's also my hobby and I am a narcissist!
I'm a fan of the Canadian notes myself. Cool subject matter and uncluttered. Thanks for another fun video!
Very hard to argue the Birds of Canada issue is simple, elegant and beautiful and still looks like currency. Thanks for the comment!
Great video and information.
Thank you Gina - you're too nice but I will take it!
I didnt know we had microprinting around the portrait or the security strip on those US note! Neat video. Also loved the fun facts with elevator music…learned a lot 👍 Thanks Dan!
Thanks 4Kollector!
I must admit I cant help but feel a little bit proud of the Mexico's beautiful currency 😅. Great video, Dan!

You're watching my video. It's not psychic but psycho! Appreciate the support and you are correct about the music - much better description.
Even all mexican banknotes got so much going on them, my number one spot are "Birds of Canada" banknotes! Sometimes less and classy is much better!! Thank you for information!! As always just amazing!! Best regards!!
Very hard to disagree with Birds of Canada, simple and elegant they are, a beautiful issue. Thanks Tengri!
Yep Mexico did a lot compared to the US. I didn't know the subtle changes to our currency. As always, great series. Looking forward to the US making a comeback.
Thanks Gunny! May have to wait a bit longer for the comeback...
Great video. You've improved your Spanish pronunciation greatly.
Thanks - And that can't be true! I do try...

@@collectingonthecheap56353Very interesting Monochrome fast fact! Thank you!
I too also like foreign notes
I'm really getting deeper into collecting them. So beautiful and such a big area to collect in.
Great education 👍 It may just be me but I feel like I have seen a sudden spike in popularity of Mexico currency.
Thanks! It's been a fun series to put together. The 2000s coming out tomorrow. And I think you're correct especially with Mexico's older currency.
SHOCKING! USA at a VERY distant 3rd……again…..
Maybe the 2000’s will be our decade! If I recall we (USA) finally make some changes.
Is that sarcasm? Have you been hanging around Gunny too much? Your recollection is correct. As a matter of fact all three countries roll out new designs...but put your bronze colored eye glasses on for the USA.

3rd place again for the US? Who would have guessed!
I know - could be me and don't think that I don't love US currency. Thanks!
Another great video Dan. Wondering where Joe is when you need him though?
Thank you sir and he's busy with a new baby!
For this week's video, I have to agree. Mexico wins hands down.
I really like the simplicity of the Birds of Canada - but yes, The Bank of Mexico did a really nice job. Thanks Emmanuel!
Also, your title card is accurate, but the title itself says 1980s.
THANK YOU - got it changed!

Thanks for the comment - love the 'northern peso'
Is it too much to call US currency "lazy" after like 1963?
