    Got a 21 plate so previous gen. I'm a full license holder, 20 years of motorcycle experience, living in Scotland. On the backroads here I've never considered it annoyingly slow. What I've noticed is that, because it's so light and nimble and not a lot of power, I often end up keeping up or even overtaking people on much bigger bikes who are evidently overpowered and scared by their own machines. Too many people get rid of their 125s as soon as they get that A license without properly mastering it. I bet 90% of the riders in the UK can't utilise the full potential of an MT-125 yet they're riding bikes with 10x the bhp, probably only using 15-20% of the capability. Sorry, rant over. Fun little bike that doesn't feel little and if you can live with the controversial looks probably the best all rounder 125.

      Completely agree with what you said. I spent a year and covered over 5000 miles on my mt125. So glad I did that, it really taught me a lot. Things I maybe would never of learnt on a bigger bike!
      I’ve sold it now though, and am moving on to my A2 license very soon.

      @@TheElicoA I'm 178cm so there's a decent amount of difference, however, I'll still say try different bikes. Perceived size and seat height don't tell the whole story. A seat can be 5cm higher than another model and feel a lot more crammed. Geometry of the bike, steering bar size, height, and angle, pegs height and position, size and shape of tank, all come into play and each bike will feel different.

    ahhh I wanted it so much, I was going for it, but it was in shortage, so I ended up with the xsr125, which is pretty much the same bike components wise, just different shape.
    I think the cc125 range in general serves a specific purpose, and they are great at what they are made for, which is commute.
    they are perfect for everyday use, as they are very economic, they are light and easy to handle. and since nobody needs to go more than 100km they are the perfect package.
    also for my 170cm tall weak ass their size is perfection lol.

    It’s a nice thing for a 125 but the price, especially if you take the options, for a bike that can’t even be used for the big bike test, is far too expensive. 125’s used to be test - passers or cheap runarounds, for the money you saved on this you could do DAS and put your bum on a good 500cc plus bike.

  • @56Spookdog
    @56Spookdog Год назад

    It’s impressive for a 125 but the price is a bit off putting especially with the blue rims. My 1974 Yamaha 125 can’t get close to the speeds you were doing and my Yamaha XT250 is at full throttle at 70. Ripping around on a small displacement bike is fun. I say drop some of the features and lower the price.

    For £5k on a 125cc I would shop around for a 2 stroke DT, Mito, NSR, Aprilia RS etc for half the price and more speed for fun, because many will be jumping off this bike at 17 years old and most would bypass this and advance direct for a big capacity. I think manufacturers are being silly with the little bikes now at those prices. Kate if you were 16 years old, what would you buy? A new bike or an old 2nd hand one that is 20 odd years old, easy to tinker with and fix with little to no electronics...

    The best 125cc? Arguably yes… but, should anyone buy one? Not unless they live inner city and will NEVER upgrade to a big bike, or if they’re rich. Massively overpriced for the market, doesn’t make any sense compared to competition and bang for buck…. Zontes does most of these for 2.5K less!

      @@ryanmartin1841 Only you can really answer that… Go for a test ride, try different bikes. You may hate the sportier stance for example. Stunning looking bike of course, but price insurance. Yamaha build quality is world renowned though, so I wouldn’t have any concerns about it lasting you a long time if you decide to keep it long-term. They also hold their value, but have a lot fewer buyers, so take longer to sell.
      It’d be a great commuter bike inner city, but you don’t want to take a 125cc on a highway and even A roads can feel a bit sketchy uphill sometimes. Pros and cons!
