I wish I had been born into MUSIC . . . these people are so lucky . . . . I know people say it's great to have money etc but music is more valuable in sooooooo many ways I love Irish music. . Appalachian etc . . . . . If everyone in this world appreciated music . . the wars would be music competitions . . . . . and when the competitions were done. . . 9months later new musicians would be born IF ONLY
This old northeastern Minnesota country fella sees heart, soul and community... I love that about the Appalachia people. I know that area suffers from under development for what money can do but I do not see wealth as the pocketbook, love is so-o-o-o much more and it just is oozing out of those hills. Without are roots we have no path. Keep the traditions going for all of us.
Ha ha ha ha that little guy with red glasses near the end of the vid . . . . .He will be great one day I am sure of that. No nerves or hesitation . . Fantastic
I can't tell you how happy your video made my heart today as I was watching and listening to these kids playing and singing and dancing. What a wonderful blessing to see children doing something cultural to honor their heritage and bring joy to their audiences. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful tradition of music and community. God Bless you!
So GREAT to see kids doing something constructive with their time that will pay back dividends for years to come. They are truly amazing. Kudos to not only the children but their parents for steering them and supporting them.
Excellent and congratulations to all the youth! Hearing that young man pick out Cripple Creek on his 5 string banjo really brought back memories of my first time playing a banjo! Love Cripple Creek! Began playing the banjo in my 30’s! What a head start these kids have!
This put a smile on my face and lightened my heart. These kids, whether they go on to become professional musicians or not will always have music which has to be the universal language of humans. Even most animals too! (In their own way of course)
WoW! I and a few friends went to Galax for a fiddlers convention in the early summer of 1976. STOMPIN '76. It was our first stop from home in Maryland on a months long cross country trip in my Chevy van. I guess I may have to go back since it's still on! It was a blast and it rained and the stream was a river we had to cross on a wire strung bank to bank. We got there early and couldn't get too close and camped on a pasture hillside with a thousand others. I may have to find and scan my pictures which I have many. Thanks for the memories and the music.
Keep America Alive.. we rely on our offspring! keep the US breathing!!
Keep the heart of America Alive. Never give up...I'm in CA so my pleading is reality!!
Fantastic!

Great! Music lifts people up and brings them together. Nice. Pete Seeger would've liked it !! And Arlo Guthrie. I´m from Belgium.
This is so sweet. Thanks.

Galax Fiddlers Convention is different than Stompin' 76. That was a one time event & one of a kind.
Beautiful 😊
Very nice!
would've loved to hear a sample of the music of the folks you interviewed in this bit.
The one kid is in Virginia at a bluegrass convention and called a fiddle a violin.
and the girl who said she plays bluegrass and immediately started playing frailing banjo
I hope my next life, Good Lord will let me be a Mandolin player.
Dave go for it now if you are able. Never too old to learn.
Wish they had some on here of this yrs meeting
@stevemartin would be proud!!

WHAT TIME IS SUPPER? 😂 LOOKS YUMMY!
More music , less talk!

Hey thats me
All I listen to is Bluegrass and Death Metal.
Is that the Walmart yodeler?
To cool looks like a road trip in august
If the adults would stop jawing and let the kids play it would be a better time.
Too much talking and not enough music. These kids deserve air time.
Come Monday night to the Youth Competition this year and see the whole thing!
Beautiful folks ,beautiful music ,thanks ❤for
