If you cannot open the lid (it will be difficult the first time because it is glued on) you can make a hole with a knife in the same place where the author of the video opens it with a knife. Then lift the lid with a knife and it will open. After these steps, refill the cartridge and seal the lid with a tape.

I thought this looked like a genuis method until you get to the part where you say "just lay the lid on, it's not going to stick very well but...." I was wondering if the lid would re-attach or not, guess not! I do'nt think the design of my printer would hold it on the way yours does

Is there any harm in doing this method. I have been trying to understand why there are so many videos on making holes on top and injecting the ink through the plastic. This looks like a much easier method. Are we missing something here?
I have been using this method for my Canon PIXMA cartridges, and every time I leave it for a few weeks without use it will be dried up beyond recovery. I assume this has to do with the fact that the lid is now not fitting tightly, letting air into the cartridge and drying out the ink around the printer nozzle heads. I even tried soaking the head in a mix of isopropyl alcohol and warm water (after trying the damp paper towel method a few times), but it seems like the ink is so dried up that it doesn't work. I get no output at all on the test page (or any page for that matter). I have seen some even more aggressive methods, which includes completely disassembling the cartridge and washing and scraping the filter under water, but that releases a ton of ink in your sewer plus I already had an OEM replacement cartridge bought, so I was not willing to try that and just gave up. At first this method seemed better and easier, as you could see what is going on. In reality, I already ruined a few cartridges by the ink drying out. Another issue that I ran into with the lid removed method, is that while filling up the cartridge it would often overflow through the print head. Moving forward I will definitely be using the needle method to fill up my cartridges. I already bought the syringes and needles. As another tip, if you use a 27 gauge needle, you don't need to drill and the holes and make them larger, as the 27 gauge needle will fit perfectly though the OEM hole they use for filling. As an extra precaution, I will be storing my cartridges when not in use as recommended here (ruclips.net/video/4_u4lh2u2RU/видео.html). Apparently all inkjet printer cartridges are prone to drying out if you are not using them frequently (and I'm certainly an very infrequent user). I am yet to see how well this method will work, but I can say with certainty that an OEM cartridge being installed next to my refilled one using the lid remove method, has never dried up unlike the refilled one (and they both have not been used for the same period of time). Like I said in the beginning, my only explanation is that the lid not fitting correctly is letting too much air in and drying out the ink, as this has happened to every cartridge I've refilled. They work right after refilling, but once they dry out they are completely dead. Another wild possibility is that the ink which I'm using to refill (which is still a Canon brand ink) is making some sort of chemical reaction with minute quantities of the old ink left, causing it to dry up. However considering in many videos I've seen people refill with all different kinds of inks, and the way these cartridges work + the fact that sometimes I've refilled them two - three times before storing them (which should have flushed all the old ink by now) this seems highly unlikely.

I am trying to get those caps that are glued on the top with holes for the needles already in them. I hope that I don't need to buy another cartridge set though.
The chip that gives you a full reading doesnt measure the ink levels it estimates from full based on how much you have printed. Which is why some carts will show empty when you still have ink. The chip isnt designed to be reset(show full once empty), which is why they sell after market carts that you can manually rest. But these will just show always full so you dont get the message again. Good news is this printer you can over ride and have it print even if it shows no ink, u like alot of printer which just wont print anymore once ink says its gone. Just keep printing as normal, hope this helps
@@alexcarpentieri4495 @Alex Carpentieri or the method shown in these videos show you put a tiny hole to put ink, which is dumb because i think the sponge is a very solid/firm sponge and with such a tiny hole and dense sponge it'll overflow before it can even absorb into the sponge, i drilled a bigger hole and tilted it to the side so it can absorb ink into the sponge better
i have no idea how you can pry it open, the pixman 2560 one has SEALED tightly, its so tight i'm not sure if its a lid (it probably is) also its a type that you put in from the side not top, if i break something off it might not slot in properly and lock in, so this might work for you not sure if its the best for all cartridges

Hey can you help me your video helped however the ink refill worked a couple times but now it's printing blanks after I refilled it last night any tips on how to fix this please reply ASAP thank you please note I clicked the reset button held at 3 seconds and I also held down the stop button turn the printer on and off and I also held the printer cartridge against a paper to see if any ink is coming out and the part on the cartridge that looks like a film strip yeah I pressed that against a tissue paper to see if any ink comes out and the ink lines black and the color comes out fine so I don't know why it's not printing help me out please thank you
Okay I have an update so the printer the Canon TS 3522 I believe its 275 cartridge it's printing color but it's not printing all black that's crazy is there any way to fix this

Thanks for a good video. I took the lid off (with a small screwdriver) but I found that it would not firmly fit back on to the body. Should I use tape to keep the lid on or is it OK just to let it sit there a bit loosely. Thanks
Interesting experiment but without ending. You forgot to instruct everyone what glue to use to stick these two parts together and how prepare them before gluing
Make sure it's the right ink for your cartridge, add till it's all absorbed and then try it. You can recharge a few times before needing to buy a new cartridge. You have to use the printer often so as not to dry out the ink, because the cartridge head goes bad if that happens.
When you understand that youtube only works for creators if they post content - whether or not the content is accurate or not doesn't matter. This is one of those videos. If you take the top off these little cartridges, you will never get the top to stay back on because, of course, they are not meant to be popped off in the first place. Therefore that is why you should only punch or drill a little hole in the cartridge (like all the other videos say to do) because a hole is easier to cover rather than an entire top. The method is this video is a really good way to get ink all over and inside your printer, completely ruining it.
I have tried both ways, and i can say that my way works way better. Its easy to just guess and talk your mouth. The lid can easily stay on there with a little bit of tape that you can replace every time you refill. The way that 'sponge' absorbs ink is way more efficient if you remove the top !!!! Try and see.....

NOT A GOOD method to take the top off ... That piece is NOT going to snap back on most of the time. It was made to refill from the top throgh the HOLE!.. It is th eonly way to insert the sponge into the BODY... LOOK at other viedo's on RUclips and note that they all show from the top, Please take down your video.
Just pull back the sticker, heat up a nail that's thicker than the syringe is, poke 4 or 5 holes under where the sticker was, fill up the cartridge and put the sticker back on it. Wait 15 minutes. Run the cartridge cleaner program and align the print head. Should be good for a year!
Don't forget to do print head cleaning after this type of refill to get proper printing, also use a duct tape to seal the cover back. Thanks for sharing, OP!

A beer can opener works much better than screwdriver I found, and I just used a rubber band to keep the lid on.

the sponge is divided so you have to do each one red yellow blue or pink

After topping up the ink, the printer show low ink. How to solve this? Pls advise. :)

You could try to do a nozzle clean from the Canon software. It that doesn't work than the cartridge is probably broken
