I worked at Donner Ski Ranch for years as a Ski/Snowboard instructor and Avalanche patrol. Now living in Colorado we didn't get anything near that amount this year. I am sure you do some backcountry at ASI. Be careful in these conditions.
Have you thought about putting some thick(1" or multiple layers) plywood connecting your 2nd floor deck(or deck railing) to the top of your snow fence(also using the snow pushed up against the snow fence that the plywood is sitting on to help the snow fence bear the weight) so you dont have to shovel the landing at the bottom of the stairs, or some plywood in other places(tunnels)?
It definitely has been going through my mind to put some protection up there in that spot you identified - a design fault in the cabin exposed this year. I'm not the only one with that situation!
Hopefully this is not a sample of what El Nino can do! Or...We are all in for alot of work ahead. Best to get prepared for next winter! The East Coast hasn't gotten snows like that since I was a child. Prayers 🙏! You just have to all work on your own little areas. Older people need to network for help.

I can't imagine where it will all go when it starts to melt.
Absolutely! This year in CA, we need to prepare for "The Melt" at every opportunity from now on.
@@stevecarle8851 You want to think about the 6 inches or more of rain coming on that snow, 150 pounds per sq foot, will be a lot of new construction.
This is a follow up to snow conditions for 3-5-23
