- The latest trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos' The Favourite.
At the center of the story is Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), whose relationship with her confidante, adviser and clandestine lover Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough (Rachel Weisz) is turned upside down by the arrival of the Duchess's younger cousin Abigail (Emma Stone). Soon the balance of power shifts between the women as they jockey for influence with the Queen and the court.

Just saw the film last night after trying too for weeks (as it had been sold out) and glad I did! It was fantastic and deserves any award it gets!

Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the best filmmakers alive, and this film was no exception. He combines darkness with humor and beautiful visual storytelling better than most ever could.

I don’t understand your comment, do you believe the movie terrible bc of the ending or for other aspects?. In my opinion that you can disagree, the movie was fantastic with the performance of the protagonists, interesting too Abigail’s character development as the turning points on the plot. For me was enjoyable.
The ending is about how the queen and Abigail will be miserable. The victory of Abigail will be empty, as she still sells herself as she did with her father, the queen on the other hand will be empty for she had chosen flattery over love(Sarah) and has now regret her decision.
