Can't believe it. After 48 yrs I just noticed the preacher said "We Are Gathered in His Name". I suppose that was the give away to what was coming. Still one of the best horror films I've ever seen. Shelley Winters is pure evil. Throw in my boy Abe Vigoda and Johnathan Frid total win. When the The Devil says " Take they fathers Hand" that did it for me. This movie along with Salem's Lot are the most scary films I've seen to this very day.
I saw this when I was a kid and could never understand her reaction to learning she was the Devil's daughter. What's so bad about that? The prestigious pedigree. The power and the wealth. Adoring followers who will worship the ground you walk on. Sounds great to me.
And, as she does, Belinda Montgomery (as Diane, the lovely person who, one night, is put in a trance and enticed into a demonic dance as she is worshipped as the princess of darkness by certain associates of her late mother) is to wed Robert Foxworth (a successful architect and the demon of endor (whose eyes can glow)) as they're presided over by Joseph Cotten, a friendly, mild-mannered administrator type who turns out to be the devil, or Diane's father, ultimately shown as hooved and very bad-ass.)
My God! I just realized that the great Abe Vigoda aka Fish from Barney Miller is in this movie! Why hasn't anyone mentioned that before? To me he was a bigger deal than Shelly Winters.
Damn this movie scared me even more than The exorcist since it has an unhappy ending! I saw it during the KISS/ Black Sabbath era. Could never like heavy metals because of this movie.
I was maybe 8 or 9 when I saw this movie on TV - I was traumatized by this scene LOL

You couldn't go wrong with anything Dan Curtis did ❤.
Me too, one of the classics that’s so frightening
I saw this when I was a kid when it originally aired on tv. The scene when the dude's eyes lit up scared the fuck outta me
To paraphrase a statement in The Godfather III, just when I thought I was OUT, THEY pull me BACK IN.
♥️♥️♥️
Don't worry about Diane. Five years later, after 2 kids and marriage counseling, they divorced and she got custody of the kids and got half his shit.
And she overthrew Her Father! Living the good Life!🌛
Damn! Scared the hell out of me as a boy.
A Classic!♥️
The Demon of Endor marries the daughter of Satan.
Back in the Day, ABC Movie of the week always came up with some bizarre shit, nowadays they can't do nothin right

Geeze. You just can’t please some brides. After all that work to arrange it and even bring Satan from the next world? Geesh
Show the whole movie!
Make sure your loves eyes sparkle not shine.
This messed me up bad as a kid.
