The announcer in MK 1 is basically Shang Tsung (old version) and in MK2-MK3-UMK3-Trilogy the announcer is none other than Shao Khan. I love it when he says "I WIN".
MK4 and Deadly Alliance is Quan Chi, and Deception and Armageddon is Onaga.

It’s almost like having Shao Khan as the announcer, at least before the voice actor of Shao got added and the actual announcer got auto tuned or something.

Armageddon was suppose to be the conclusion to an era. ( much like Mortal Kombat Trilogy ) hence why every character returned. ( with the exception of Tremor & the rest of the characters from Mortal Kombat Special Forces )
@Collin Grott I think that's because nrs puts alot more detail in characters and their moves. They prefer quality over quantity.
It was supposed to be the last game so of course it had a big roster it had all the characters

MK1's announcer is Shang Tsung, MK2's and (U)MK3's is Shao Kahn, and MK4's is Quan Chi. Every other announcer is supposedly Shao Kahn too, but we're never told, we're just left assuming because of the announcer's deep voice.
Funnily enough, MK11 has Shao Kahn as two announcers: the default one from ever since MK9, and the actual Shao Kahn from this game.

To this day, mk2/mk3/mortal Kombat trilogy is what’s on my head to this day for actual announcer. I’m older now but when I see mortal kombat is what I think they should bring back. However the guy is older . His voice is not the same

Deadly Alliance was my first MK game. Unforgettable. MK11's announcer voice seems like a step back.
For me the 3D game announcer was the best, such a devilish voice. Sometimes it was scarier than some of the fatalities
It sounded too much artificial. Mk2 announcer is more natural
MKvsDC announcer is underrated. The way he annunciates along with the tone of voice and the audio adjustment makes it sound like he’s right there making the huge announcement.

For me, the announcer from MK Deadly Alliance through Armaggedon will be my favorite. Not only did I legitimately get creeped out by it as a kid along with the darker atmosphere but it just sounds badass as hell. 🤘🔥

In my opinion mk9 had the best voice.
I wish the rebooted trilogy of MK games brought back Steve Ritchie and Hernan Sanchez back as the announcers cause they were the best in that department by miles. I loved MK9-MK11 but the announcer was honestly a massive step back compared to the rest of the games before them.

@Gonzalo Acosta Not alone on that one buddy I loved MK4 despite what people say about it. It had my personal favorite announcer and soundtrack of any MK game imo. Shaolin Monks is my favorite in terms of Steve Richies delivery of the lines as it sounds so badass. Gameplay-wise MK9, MKX and MK11 are the best in that regard but in regards to the announcers and soundtrack, they don't even compare to older games.
My favorite will always be the original announcer, I played alot in arcade and it just sounds epic and surreal, like it is a voice from an unnatural being.

I really loved the soundtrack/announcer in MK4, the prison and goro's lair were some serious bangers. Wish mk11 had that level of stylishness. It feels a little plain to me with it's super hero movie soundtrack aesthetic.
mk4 had really creepy atmosphere. Main menu itself was scary as hell

Deadly Alliance and Deception were by far my favorite probably because I grew up playing those 2 on my PS2 also Herman Sanchez just has that voice ya know?
My fave has always been MK 3... but Mk1 always had this kind of charm. Since 3 they've been going for Monster Voice which is certainly one thing you can do, but you know not the only thing you can do.

You know what's more outstanding ?? Sheevas scream after being impaled in stage fatalities. Imagine being caught off guard late night and hearing that ?? It's overly dramatic and monster like.
That being said, I think MK 2 and MK 1 are the best. Such a retro sound yet timeless.
- ERRMAQ / Lost Angeles
MK1: Shang Tsung is the announcer. Notice the older voice, one that is changed for MK2 and 3. Also, canonically Shang's overseeing everything, so it makes sense.
MK2-3: Shao Kahn. This is the most obvious announcer to pinpoint, with him saying "I win" if he beats you, and not commenting on your victory if you happen to defeat him.
MK4: Fairly certain it's Quan Chi. The voice is identical to his, and it fits his role as Shinnok's enforcer. A character as relatively important as him is bound to be in the announcer role.
MK Deadly Alliance-Armageddon: If I'm hearing right, it's the same actor as MK4's. However, it really only makes sense for Quan Chi to be the announcer for Deadly Alliance out of all these games, as he has fairly minor roles in both Deception and Armageddon. Would've liked to see Onaga and Blaze take the helm for those games respectively. That being said, this is absolutely the best announcer, imo
Shaolin Monks: Admittedly haven't played this one, but with the voice bearing resemblance to the MK2 announcer, and with Shaolin Monks being a retelling of MK1 and MK2, I'm guessing it's Shao.
MK vs DC Universe: Again, it's the 3D era midway voice. Quan Chi actually has some role in this games story, and he isn't playable, so maybe it could be him as some overseer. Other then that, dunno.
MK9-X: No specific character is tied to the announcer. The VA of the announcer does play Noob and (I think) Bi Han, but I don't think those characters are commentating. I'm fairly certain the announcer is some otherworldly voice at this point, like in Deception and Armageddon
MK11: Same with MK9 and X for the Klassic voice. However, Shao Kahn, Kronika, Johnny and Robocop are all unlockable/buyable announcers. So hey, at least the game spells it out for us
Mk9-X I think its Shao Kahn again.
Definitely not Shao for X, as he's canonically dead at that point. But maybe for 9 yeah, they do sound similar despite the different VA's

It was in the 2D era and it returned in Shaolin Monks and it also became optional in MK11.
In MK1 the announcer & final boss is Shang Tsung.
In MK2 & MK3/UMK3/MKT & MKSM the announcer & final boss is Shao Kahn.
In MK11 the final boss and one of the announcer voices is Kronika.
Imo the deadly alliance announcer is underrated, it sounds amazing when he says FIGHT
Even as the announcer would get better in later games, the original Mortal Kombat announcer was great with how it sounded when he said “Fight!”
I gotta say, Announcer MKII is the best IMO.
