The fact that I have to get a certification to prove that English was the medium of instruction, whilst English is the only official language in my country is mind boggling . Thanks for the information, I'm studying Education and my majors are English and social science/studies. My dream is to teach abroad specifically Asia. I hope for the best.
Just to clear up, because it might cause some confusion. TEFL AND TESOL are not the same thing. Despite sounding similar, the two acronyms describe two different teaching contexts. TESOL refers to teaching English to individuals and groups who speak another language. This can be either in the U.S. or abroad. TEFL refers to teaching English in places where English is a foreign language.
So well spoken and the part about you actually have to enjoy teaching is so true. Also, people should never prepared to do the work. No matter where you teach they’re ups and downs to it. Don’t expect to love every part of the job or the country you choose. Be open minded send be able to adjust.
Amazing video, what an exciting adventure for you! It would be great to see a video about how to find different jobs and what to look out for contract wise :) Subbed!
Yeah even if one has a degree in Education, unless English is your Major and are from the countries she mentioned the TEFL certificate is a requirement. I need one because even if English is the only official language in my country, because I'm not from any of those countries I need one.
Thank you for this! This is something i would love to do. I am not from the 7 countries and wanted to ask on where i could get more information on what i could do.
So I have a question, I am in my final year of my Education degree but my degree is for higher grades. Do they onlt hire english teachers for foundation phase?
Both syllabus and lesson planning depended on the school. At one school, both were more time-consuming than the other. Didn't really get trained, but I did observe classes for about a week before I taught. Because I had classroom experience, I found it quite easy to get started.
Great questions! I don't follow a specific religion, but my time in Korea did pave the way to spirituality for me. Korea is actually a predominantly Christian country. In the area I was living in, there were churches everywhere. A lot of private academies are Christian as well, so if you are thinking about teaching in Soko, this could be an option for you too!
unfortunately not. if you’re not a native english speaker you would have to prove that you went to a English speaking school from k-12. if you can’t prove that you’re not eligible to be a teacher in korea or japan. but i think it may be different in thailand if that would interest you
Hi Ref, thank you so much for sharing such a worthwhile information. I am busy with TEFL and I am considering going to South Korea as soon as I am done with the course. Can I please DM you for more detailed information
Wholesome and beautiful 🤎🤎. I love the enlightening experiences, perspectives and advice you shared. P.s forgot to mention I was one of the best people you met 😉😂

Just because you know English, doesn’t mean you know how to teach English. If that’s mind boggling, that’s exactly why the requirement is there :)

I have no intentions of going to Korea but I'm paying so much attention haha. I just love your channel.
Lol! I love that. Coming for the experience and not the info is also something I do sometimes.

The TEFL is not mandatory but if you are staying long term to teach get it!
The TEFL is not mandatory if you have a Bachelor of Education degree. If you have a degree in anything, you NEED the TEFL.
@@amo_thakeDo you have any direct connections I have Bachelors in Education and Sociology and teaching experience as a British born and raised UK

@@alinanamene4845 That’s incorrect mama. If you have a teaching degree, you don’t need a TEFL certificate ❤️
@@DoyinVoice is UK one of the accepted countries? Please find out. If it is, which I think it is, then you definitely qualify.

Thanks Refiloe
Hi there
Please can Nigerians also apply?
How was the syllabus and the lesson planning? Did you get trained at any point beside the TEFL.

Where did you go to get a criminal background check..? Is there a website or you apply to or..?

I'm from Pakistan and our official language is already English. I'm eligible?
Thank you for this informative video. ☺️ Did you join a program before heading to Korea?
nope!
Did teaching in Korea put a strain on your religion (if you do have one)? Were there churches for Christians? Sorry if this is a dumb question ♡.

Can i teach English in Korea if i m from India?
Is it not possible to teach in Korea if I'm from non native speaking country ?
I have a bachelor degree in English medium.

Hi Ref, thank you so much for sharing such a worthwhile information. I am busy with TEFL and I am considering going to South Korea as soon as I am done with the course. Can I please DM you for more detailed information
Quick question: does your link/80% pertain to teaching in S.Korea only?
nope! you can use the TEFL course in any country that requires it.
Did your school cover flights to South Korea?
They covered a one-way flight, most schools do. We had to cover our return flight.
Can I get your business email?
