This video re-instilled my hopefulness for finding a teaching job in Korea with a positive experience attached. Your students are so lucky to have you as their teacher!
Cheers - I’ve been lucky in Korea with two hagwons I’ve worked for across seven years. My own classroom, higher pay, seeing the students improve over time, and being in a location of my choosing are the key reasons why I stay at a hagwon.
that's so exciting!! I decided to go to KU and I'm in my second semester now and I've fallen in love with Seoul so I hope you enjoy the different atmosphere
thankyou so so much for making these videos! I am going to be applying in the next couple of months through EPIK and you have helped me enormously! so excited for you and your new journey in a Hagwon! Im currently in the UK and it's been my dream to move to South Korea and teach English and watching your videos has made me feel so much more at ease and motivated to just do it! So thank you :)
Hi Alex! Honestly thank you so much for this video. I'm starting to apply to teach in korea and I've been going back and forth between hagwon and EPIK. This vid really helped a lot 💕 Currently I am an English teacher online, the students are all adult and mostly have a good level and its small groups, however and I feel like the only thing I'm missing and really really want is to be able to speak to the students personally and really get to know them and track their progress. The way the company I work for set things up, I teach brand new students every lesson, everyday. So theres like no way of developing any type of relationship with the students. Watching this really just made things really clear about what to expect since I've been leaning more towards Hagwons anyway. Also can you please share more about the green and black lists for Hagwons? Whats the most reliable source? 💕
Alex!!! I am so happy for you! I have an interview for EPIK next Sunday! You are making me want to take the Hagwon path instead 🥹 I am so excited to see all your updates. Praying we can meet one day 🙏🏼🌷
so excited for you!!! i’m pretty sure i want to finally try teaching english in korea next year (fall 2025) and i def think i’ll go epik for ease for the first time, but if i stay for another year then the hagwon route!!
great video! im currently in the process of waiting for a response about my epik application but im considering a hagwon as a backup but omg being brand new to all this, going through the process of looking for hagwons and such is overwhelming. what was your process like in all that?
Could you talk about the prep needed to come to Korea? I'm finishing up my degree and have started looking at all the other steps neded to teach at a Hagwon. I've looked at the visa, but I'm stumped on how to find a good hagwon. TIA!!
Hi alex, would it be okay if I email you some questions and get your feedback? I am very interested in teaching in Korean and am a bit overwhelmed by the all the information. Your videos really resonate with me
It's good to see you back in Korea - we are looking forward to your gorgeous videos. PS: When I was in Korea (2012) there was an amazing place called "Butter Finger Pancakes" - if it's there, please go. They also have fish and chips if you are homesick
I had the worst job of my LIFE at a kindy hagwon in Gangnam. I've never done epik, but taught adults (at a hagwon), worked at an international school on Jeju, and lastly worked at a private elementary school. And man, the kindergarten hagwon was easily easily EASILY the worst job I've had of my life (including all my menial labor jobs in the states.) But I've heard some are good - god speed.

Hahahaha I'm still here in Korea! Life just got very busy - that's all :)
Your job at EPIK may have been discontinued.
What do you mean by that?
I’m here after getting rejected from EPIK lol
