Bombs can be quite effective against Portals! So if you never get a Main Firing Rate Up, it's a good alternative.

my friend got the badge AND used 5 hacks so the limit is actually 5, not 4!!

Did your friend use Risky Rewards? That's the only hack that doesn't count towards the limit.
@@briankim1098 i'm talking ab the limit to getting the fancy low hacks badge, i used 4 hacks and got the badge just fine, my friend used 5 and got the badge just fine also, so the max amount of hacks you can use AND get the cool badge is 5. Vasko in the video said you need at least 12 chip slots to get the badge which simply is not true since my friend got it with just 6 slots, so that is why i'm commenting.

I used three hacks for this so more chips can be equipped:
-one extra life because I am very bad at video games
-broken armor jump
-chip bias
And then there was me.
I did a no hack run.
Also, the enemies and the number of enemies that spawn in on the final floor seem to be based upon what floors you visited on your way up the tower. I can neither confirm or deny that is how it works but that is at least the pattern I have seen.
i thought i had to do no hacks at all for the badge so i suffered until i finally beat smollusk 😭 at least i can say that i’ve beaten side order completely hackless on agent 8’s palette
Sliver wolf would most likely hack all chips at the start of any run
I cannot...CANNOT stress how many times Pearl Killer Wail has come in clutch for me in Side Order even with just 2 chips in it and some Drone Special chips...she has saved my keester more times than I can count.
only use these two hacks:
extra life (you will need it)
broken armour jump (super good for survivability)
i did this run first try and died once so the extra life saved me, the broken armour jump also carried me as you can just pearl drone out of there to heal and you get 24 chips which is enough for a good palette. Good luck :)

Honestly a strategy I found out on RUclips is just don't turn off your hacks because you know they're literally things that help you scale the spire and it took me like two goals in on the second one I finally beat it also has anyone encountered a glitch where when you complete a color only run your entire area becomes pink

yes i had the glitch-the saturated colors are so easy on my eyes and when i saw everything was pink my eyes had a sensor overload lmaoo

Ah, the low hack run. That's fun. And some have done it as a no hack run.
I went further and did it under the "Spire of Brutality" ruleset
- must always do the hardest option (your only choice is when the hardest difficulty is offered in two options)
- always take the vending machine floor, and then leave immediately
- any bonus challenge given must be completed with a reward remaining; if it zeros out, you lose
There's other rules, but they concern hacks, which don't apply if you're doing a hackless run
Would I recommend it? No, of course not! I'm insane, which is why I did it. I'm a terrible role model for that reason. Have fun how you like, and if this seems interesting for you, then try it if you want.

@nicoborken9963 No hacks whatsoever, minus the floor reroll (at lowest level, i.e. the most expensive) and the vending machine hacks (which doesn't matter for price, as you leave any vending machine levels immediately, but the 15F/25F guarantee makes it harder, as you take them whenever they appear) and Risky PRLZ.
So the only useful hack you can have is the ability to reroll floors, but you must keep it at lowest level.
Vending price matters not, and Vending guarantee make it that slight bit harder due to skipping those floors.
And there's also Risky, if you think you're baller enough to win.
Those are your allowed hacks. Everything else? Not allowed.
the strat I used was 3 lives, NOTHING else (for 24 slots in the palette). chips can be quite powerful once you have them, but i needed room to make mistakes. any other problem can be fixed by smart floor choice and skips, especially if you build up enough membux to back out and skip a floor that was harder than you expected.
I just got this badge earlier today. Here's my pro tip: add explosion radius and explosion damage to buff splashdown

u can hide from the asynchronous rondo by just going in swim form in ur ink btw! works in a pinch if there are too many mobs. idk if swimming at regular speed attracts its attention tho
You can't swim in ink and remain hidden BUT to dodge the lights you can just swim directly under, to the side and back out, once you've passed where the spotlight was. I've found its just easier to deal with and you shouldn't immediately get a (still very easy to dodge) shockwave.
I ended up going getting enough useless hacks (max pearl action slots) so that i’d have minimum color chips, AND minimum hacks.

Here's a challenge idea for you: no main weapon. Anything else is free game, just don't use your main gun.

what?! i got it the first time i played with 8's weapon! i beat it with no hacks at all! i did get pretty lucky tho, i got like 266% attack speed or something
It took me 3 tries, but I got EXTREMELY lucky with 4 main firing speeds
My run I did it with 3 hacks - 1 extra life, 1 damage reduction, 1 attack up. For chips I got several drone charge and drone splatbombs, and 1 each of most other tones - except firing speed I had 2 of those. Basically I had Pearl helping out a lot while Eight's build was "Not good at anything, but OK for everything." Then once I had the 18 chips by Boss 2 I just went for easiest floors or vending machines (no direct Skip Floors), and admittedly got lucky during the Smollusk fight.

I got the badge with 1 extra life and slight bias. I was going for a power run and got it along the way lol. It was fun
Little tip for the reef slider attack on the final boss, you can cheese it by hiding in the corner
This Badge is Sysyphus For Me:
-I make it to F30
-I reach the Last Phase of Overlorder
-I get Splatted and Kicked Out
It usually boils down to 2 Things:
The Jelletons (Specifically, and Idk Why, Marching Andantes) swarming and Trapping Me
Or
Overlorders Reefslider / Stingray Attack.
For Refrence, i have 3 Lives, and 3 Stacks of Damage Reduction.

My build for this was max main firing speed and ink saver main lol. (And a few pain piercing and ink damage.)
Cleared it with 24 chips available on try 3. Now I feel pretty cool for having earned the badge unknowingly giving myself a handicap!
How do you get the skip floor option below the three stages?
You need to use the octo shot to get the badge, and the octo shot has the skip floors option! 🙂

Excellent job! I did mine with 4 hacks (2 extra lives, 1 damage boost, 1 defense boost) and geared most of my chips toward firing rate, movement, special spam, ink/poison damage and armor/special drops. I changed out Curling Bomb for my sub so I'd have a good escape option. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you get the Low-Hack badge if you skip a floor, right?
You do get the low hack badge. I saved up my membucks and skipped the last 6 floors before Smollusk and still got the badge when I cleared
Personally, I turned on a life and 3 attack hacks; only gives you like 12 chips but 60% damage is UNGODLY good, especially for the portal levels. And as long as it's 4 hacks or less, you're good for the badge.
I definitely respect going for less though, the stuff people can pull together with barely anything in side order blows my mind.
I done this Run and used only 2 hacks. One is extra life and other is broken armor jump. And got that badge! Phew! 😊
Ink damage increases main, sub, special, and Pearl's damage, but not poison, as seen by the dummy still only taking 100 lol.
Also yes you can use splashdown to grab what the boss drops early, but you have to time it right and not miss lol

I did it on my first agent 8 clear because I thought it would be easier than high hacks, guess being dumb gets you a cool badge
My loadout:
2 lives
1.5 defense
continues enabled for 3000
funnily enough, I skipped floor 28 because it was all splat zones and then 29 was a vending machine immediately after
I only ran 3 hacks - damage taken by me to be at 1x, and an extra life for insurance.
Took me 4 attempts.

having lots of hacks is usually better than having lots of random chips (unless you go all in for one kind) so the first time i did it, i kept all my hacks on
