As a grumpy hater of adding a ton of mobs, I actually love those. They're biome-specific which is important for atmosphere, they bring the skeleton variant number in the overworld to 2, which matches the zombies (drowned + husks), and to me the snow and swamp biomes were always the most eerie and supernatural, just as skeletons feel like the most severe and mysterious mob on the surface (besides endermen). It seems actually natural to get the bogged if we have the stray. Very good Mojang deed. Edit: The bogged feel like an og mob actually. I think that it's because 1, they're not over-detailed like the freaking crab/armadillo/turtle etc, and 2, they're genuinely spooky. They're a mouldy skeleton. One clear trend of og minecraft was to add mysterious and scary things that made the world feel old and empty, while the current direction is adding cutesy and numerous things that make the world feel full. The bogged and ancient cities are wonderful exceptions to that. I hope Minecraft goes for that more.
In general, I want more variants. I love the concept, Mojang clearly likes it too. I think zombies deserve a frozen variant (draugr) and skeletons a desert variant (mummies), even if we already have strays in the frozen biomes and husks in deserts. I think a combo variant would be awesome for deepslate caves (not the deep dark biome). I’m thinking a “ghoul”, a zombie decayed enough to start exposing bones like a skeleton that can spawn with a 50% chance of wielding a bow or 50% chance of wielding nothing. It’s mostly aesthetic, but it does have unique noises that are like a mix between a skeletons and zombie and they do generally hit harder. Fire is a massive weakness though, even more so than other undead. Another variant could be for the End, I’m thinking “Enderdead”, which is an undead enderman that doesn’t teleport as often, can be looked at safely, is hostile (rather than docile) but has a short range, cannot move non-end blocks, and has a lower pearl drop rate than endermen. To go with Enderdead, which are zombies, we have Skelenders (or something like that), which are skeleton variants that are not undead endermen but rather are chorus/purpur based controlled by a shulker head. When hit, they can randomly teleport and they do shoot the missiles BUT they are rather low on health and have gullible pathfinding (they’ll walk into pits and lava). Idk, maybe a lush cave skeleton that’s actually docile until provoked because it died in a pretty and serene environment? A “tranquil”? It emits particles like the spore blossom, and it wields an iron shovel. It can be bartered with like piglins, using copper instead of gold (it needs more uses lol), but its trades are only useful early game to balance it. No, the Instant Damage effect heals undead mobs and the Instant Healing effect damages them. But poison doesn't heal them like if it was the regeneration effect
I've never heard ANYONE say anything like this with The Drowned but for the record, “bogged” isn't a thing people commonly say, unlike “drowned” it's also... kind of hard to pronounce
the one thing thats really interesting about the bogged is that people have found dried out corpses with the skin and organs from hundreds of years ago, which could mean that these have more flesh than skeletons, meaning that the little pink part could actually be a tiny bit of skin.
I think it makes sense that they added it. Balances out the Zombie-Skeleton, Husk-Stray, Zombie Villager- Wither Skeleton (they’re both taller), Drowned-Bogged. They’re named similarly to the Drowned too

I honestly think it was to even out the amount of biome mob variants. Zombies have Husks and Drowns, where Skeletons only have Strays. Even the nether has a variants of each, Zombified Piglins and Wither Skeletons (Zoglins don't spawn naturally, so I'm not counting those)
New mod idea: Skeleton with crossbow and fireworks that explode and has a chance of homing in on the player If hit they throw hands with u untill they hit you and then go back to crossbow Soem spawn with elytras Im going to call this one the revenant
Let me take a moment to lay put the current skeleton theme. 1.10: The Stray, snow biome skeletons with slowness arrows. 1.21, Bogged, swamp biome and chamber thingies, poison arrows. Skeletons came out in basically beginning of game, 10 updates later Strays, 11 updates later Bogged, so I can predict that in 12 updates, they're going to make a new skeleton with either arrows of Turtle Master, Instant Damage, or Wither (Maybe addition of Wither arrows to Java)
Also one of the primary reasons why a bogged will never win in a duel with a skeleton is because it shoots poison arrows. Poison acts as regeneration to undead mobs, so basically each time the bogged hits a skeleton, it hurts it, but also gives it regeneration. So the skeleton they are fighting will always have more hp than them
kingbdogz: “One of the biggest things left out about the whole "why not add all 3" is also all the things the community WOULDN'T get because we'd be focusing on adding 2 extra mobs. Time isn't some free resource - if we worked on all of them, we'd have less in the core update.” Mojang: **adds 3 worse mobs anyways** Well that was a freaking lie.
I honestly like these in concept. Just the name is the issue. Bogged doesn't exactly roll off the tongue easy. Maybe they could be called bogbones instead? Plus, they could just be shortened to bogs from that.
A special skeleton variant for poison arrows was a very popular mob segestion by the community ever since they added skeletons with poison arrows to the trial chambers, so of course now that they have been added people complain😂

I’m here to spread the fact that The Bogged spawns in caves in the Swamp biomes. Considering the fact that the Bogged now spawns in caves if the cave is in a swamp, I hope Strays and Husks will spawn in caves under their respective biomes too!
It would be a decent way to tell where you are from underground. Though I’m not sure how well it would work for Husks since those are baked by the sun and wouldn’t make sense 50 blocks below ground where it stays nice and cool
I think it’s cool that Zombies and Skeletons finally have an equal amount of variants (in the overworld at least) that kind of represent different elements. Can’t wait for the two new Creeper variants, the Remnant and the Verbed
Poison arrows heal undead mobs, so a BOGGED would never beat a skeleton in a fight, since regen/healing and poison/harming are flipped, so to the skele he's fighting someone with a tipped arrow of regen
I want to add that normally, a Bogged will never win a fight with an undead mob. They get healed by poison effects and damaged by regeneration effects, so technically, the Boggeds are team healers...
As someone who does quite a good deal of texture work, I can tell you that the bogged is not bugged. The outer layer of the texture and the inner layer of the texture are designed to coexist, not to be used on their own. It is supposed to be that way *IF* both are enabled. Disabling one or the other is like disabling something like mob spawns. By the way, the drowned is similar in the texture respect and has weird rendering glitches on Bedrock.
There's a reason why the Bogged didn't win during the skeleton fight at 1:58. Negative effects, like poison and weakness, give positive effects to undead mobs. The poison arrow buffed the normal skeleton. So, if the Bogged was shooting healing arrows, or regen arrows, the Bogged would have won. Hope that made sense. 😀
They should really make an update where they release like 10-15 new mobs. That would make the game feel so much more fresh than one mob every 500 moons. Mobs like the bogged aren’t even that hard to make it’s literally just a few numbers and a new texture.
I honestly don't like the bogged, the stray and the husk already make snowy and desert areas not fun to deal with, and now the swamp is not going to be fun either (same is true for drowned) I feel like the skeleton and zombie variants need more work to be fun, and not just make more extreme biomes less fun to be in with the stray and the husk, at least they don't have status effects that are downright bad for common enemies (hunger and slowness are manageable, at the least) witches are annoying enough, we really don't need two uncommon mobs who can kill you with a single attack
nope only instant health/damage effects do something to undead mobs skeletons completly ignore regeneration and poison the bogged also has less hp and shots slower, the odds where agaist him
1:57 i dont know if its true but i have heard somewhere that poison and harm potions can heal the undead mobs like zombie and sceleton, maybe that's why he lost
nope only instant health effects do something to undead mobs skeletons completly ignore regeneration and poison the bogged also has less hp and shots slower, the odds where agaist him
I've always thought poison worked as regen for undead mobs. But I've also never tested that, and never googled that, so my believes are entirely unfounded
but in that case, bog would be a noun, so it wouldn't make sense for something to be.. 'bogged', right? that's like lighting something up with a flashlight and saying it got "flashlighted"

Mojang: Adds mob
The community: WHY DID YOU ADD THIS
me when someone wants to have a conversation with me but i dont want to break my bogging streak:
I like how it has mushrooms growing inside its skull, but it does kind of look like it has an exposed brain
those lil mushies are so cute and soft! they look like little accessories that my perfect, precious bogged wears!

True, the bogged skeleton looks like one of the jungle enemies in terraria @@poopmaster137
0:57 Left hand skeletons are quite rare. AND U DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THAT
New mod idea:
Skeleton with crossbow and fireworks that explode and has a chance of homing in on the player
If hit they throw hands with u untill they hit you and then go back to crossbow
Soem spawn with elytras
Im going to call this one the revenant
I have a really cool name suggestion for em
The "fulminated"(cuz explosive fireworks and fulminate can mean explode violently)
We've got the Drowned, a zombie variant with an -ed suffix, and now the Bogged, a skeleton variant with the -ed suffix. I love consistency.
It's the husk and stray all over! :)

2:57 I thought you skipped the quiz this time fr
This new mob is actually a master move from Mojang and I love to see it. It would be epic if we got more biome-specific and habitat-themed skeletons.
"I am very green, but I'm mean" -Bogged Skeleton
I think it makes more sense for the reason that they have the name "Bogged" is because they live in bogs, man. Or however bog is spelled
THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST ITS SO OBVIOUS
It’s also funny
Bogged
Let me take a moment to lay put the current skeleton theme. 1.10: The Stray, snow biome skeletons with slowness arrows. 1.21, Bogged, swamp biome and chamber thingies, poison arrows. Skeletons came out in basically beginning of game, 10 updates later Strays, 11 updates later Bogged, so I can predict that in 12 updates, they're going to make a new skeleton with either arrows of Turtle Master, Instant Damage, or Wither (Maybe addition of Wither arrows to Java)
Skeletons weren't added in 1.0, they were added years before it.
Also Wither Skeletons
Skeletons are basically becoming eevees and its evolutions
@@thatonefrenchguy937they made the type we don't have yet, amazing
I sure do love to talk about poisoned skeletons on Valentines Day! However when I do, my Valentine leaves. I wonder why
Also one of the primary reasons why a bogged will never win in a duel with a skeleton is because it shoots poison arrows. Poison acts as regeneration to undead mobs, so basically each time the bogged hits a skeleton, it hurts it, but also gives it regeneration. So the skeleton they are fighting will always have more hp than them
3:29 so you know how clam Can be held off hand in bedrock beacause of drowns? You know what this means, now you Can have food of hand in bedrock!
3:51 and in WIIU edition, they spawned with a bow instead of a stone sword
I had wii u edition and this never happened

kingbdogz: “One of the biggest things left out about the whole "why not add all 3" is also all the things the community WOULDN'T get because we'd be focusing on adding 2 extra mobs. Time isn't some free resource - if we worked on all of them, we'd have less in the core update.”
Mojang: **adds 3 worse mobs anyways**
Well that was a freaking lie.
Bogged is part of the core update along with the breeze, what's your point?
I honestly like these in concept. Just the name is the issue. Bogged doesn't exactly roll off the tongue easy. Maybe they could be called bogbones instead? Plus, they could just be shortened to bogs from that.
"ANOTHER skeleton variant" my guy there's literally 4
...also the stray was added back in 1.10. it was about time
Listen man anything added after horses still feels new to me Ok
A special skeleton variant for poison arrows was a very popular mob segestion by the community ever since they added skeletons with poison arrows to the trial chambers, so of course now that they have been added people complain😂
The thick foliage and intertwined vines made the hike nearly impossible.
The skull is full of gloop... & that's where the poison on the arrows comes from
it's tasty. i found out after a fun night with the bogged.
@@ShowGames_TV Sweet tasty or savory tasty?
@@Rowan_A_Boat both. it was really pungent and felt like i was slurping up ancient, rotting shit but the romantic gratification i got from it made up for it

Omg I actually love the bogged so much, this is exactly the new mob we needed. It really feels like a mob mojanf would add 6 or 7 years back
would be down for more mob variants honestly. give us jungle zombies! ocean slimes! end creepers? it’d be fun!
Just wait until mojang comes out with a wither skeleton variant 💀
That would be WILD 💀💀
i dont wanna be that guy but did you just say a "with a wither skeleton"
They already have. It's called the wither skeleton.
@@PlayHotdogWater you might wanna reread the comment
@@MoonLmao no?
I think it’s cool that Zombies and Skeletons finally have an equal amount of variants (in the overworld at least) that kind of represent different elements. Can’t wait for the two new Creeper variants, the Remnant and the Verbed
The Charged Creeper:
@@Yaapo they somehow forget that creeper variant lmao
Poison arrows heal undead mobs, so a BOGGED would never beat a skeleton in a fight, since regen/healing and poison/harming are flipped, so to the skele he's fighting someone with a tipped arrow of regen
I want to add that normally, a Bogged will never win a fight with an undead mob. They get healed by poison effects and damaged by regeneration effects, so technically, the Boggeds are team healers...
Regeneration doesn't do anything to undead and neither does poison, the bogged to the undead is just firing normal arrows
1:24 Wheres "You Died!" Mojang, WHYYYYYYY
It’s a mod he has
Poison skeleton. Boggy.
Phoenix really said "BOGGED" 25 times. that is 1 "BOGGED" every 12 seconds
Poison doesn't do anything to undead, they are immune to it so for the skeleton, the bogged was only shooting regular arrows
@@lazarpetrovic1671 Ah. Thank you for the correction.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard Phoenix's voice crack! (And from _laughter_ at that). 😂
We should have more biome specific mobs, like a soulssand valley skeleton, a warped enderman, creepers with biome related effects post explosion etc
Considering that poison works as regeneration for undead mobs, the bogged essentially works as a support class in a herd of undead. Can't wait.
Gotta love the way he pronounces “ Bogged “ though
Really shows how it’s such a goofy name for a mob
"It's boggin' time"
-bichael borbius
0:30 Yes, at last we found it!
They should really make an update where they release like 10-15 new mobs. That would make the game feel so much more fresh than one mob every 500 moons. Mobs like the bogged aren’t even that hard to make it’s literally just a few numbers and a new texture.
thank god you arent working at mojang
I honestly don't like the bogged, the stray and the husk already make snowy and desert areas not fun to deal with, and now the swamp is not going to be fun either (same is true for drowned)
I feel like the skeleton and zombie variants need more work to be fun, and not just make more extreme biomes less fun to be in
with the stray and the husk, at least they don't have status effects that are downright bad for common enemies (hunger and slowness are manageable, at the least)
witches are annoying enough, we really don't need two uncommon mobs who can kill you with a single attack
*"Creeper"*
0:00 "man"
0:28 "way back in the mine"
Actually, the bogged will always lose to normal skeletons since shoot poison arrows. Poison acts as regeneration for undead mobs
nope
only instant health/damage effects do something to undead mobs
skeletons completly ignore regeneration and poison
the bogged also has less hp and shots slower, the odds where agaist him
1:57 i dont know if its true but i have heard somewhere that poison and harm potions can heal the undead mobs like zombie and sceleton, maybe that's why he lost
nope

i think it might be 'the bogged' for the plural form, like 'the undead'
ngl the way you were saying bogged made me simultaneously laugh, and punch a hole through my monitor

The worst part about this is that Mojang could've just reused the textures for poison skeletons from MINECRAFT DUNGEONS
Then people would complain that Minecraft is lazy because they just copy
textures.

That’s true, but the design we got Is cooler ngl, It feels like the Stray
They need to add more zombie variants as well. They added Husks alongside Strays.
I've always thought poison worked as regen for undead mobs. But I've also never tested that, and never googled that, so my believes are entirely unfounded
A bog is a type of wetland like swamps. That is why they are called Bogged.
but in that case, bog would be a noun, so it wouldn't make sense for something to be.. 'bogged', right? that's like lighting something up with a flashlight and saying it got "flashlighted"
@@ShowGames_TV it totally would make sense, though I would say that’s “flashlit”. In English, verbing nouns is quite ordinary.
