This was my exact issue on a 350RX. Same exact wiring problem; the shop quoted me $600 to fix. Instead, I got it done with some spare wiring from the garage. That extension wiring really is necessary as there is almost no slack in there. Thanks for posting this!
You're welcome, Pete!
Thank you for visiting my channel 😎
Having this same issue? Did you de pin the connector? How did you re insert the wires into the connector?
Thank you! Saved me some money on this fix. Had the exact wires pull out of the connector for the LED brake light. I bypassed the connector and crimped both wires. At first I thought it was a dual filament bulb for tail lights and brakes. It was driving me mad till I saw your video. 👍
You're welcome, wing!
It is kind words like yours that keep me putting together these videos 😃
Hello. Please i had the same problem. wires pull out of the for the led brake light. how do you bypass. Thanks.
Wymieniłem sobie właśnie żarówkę. Dzięki za film.

Z Ameryki dziękuję za odwiedzenie mojego kanału! 🙂
Great video this is exactly what I’m looking for, but I’m trying to figure out once you solder on one end, how do you join it to the connector on the side marker harness?
Please help me to do this. I had the same problem. I extended wire one end from the white compacitor and where is the other end go to? I did not see what you did. sorry. Please help. Thanks
Thank you for this video we were about to buy a new tail light and watched this the wire for the resistor had the exact same wire issue
RB, I love to hear that!
I'm so glad it helped you out - have a great weekend, bud!
I just bought some Vland LED lights to upgrade from Factory.
The videos I saw you had to remove a lot more than just that access panel is that how easy it is or do I need to remove all the extra trim
@@snowboarddan5899 I did not cut any steps out, that's all there is to it! If I had to guess, by removing additional panels, you may have better visualization on connectors/bolts/etc. Good luck, bud 🍀
I had this exact problem when trying to replace my bulbs woth led bulbs. I accidentally pulled the brake light wire out of the socket and had to resuader with wire back and worked fine
What gauge wire is the correct to use for the added wire connection?
16 gauge wire will do just fine, Marie.
Thanks for the heads up about the wiring. Poor engineering for Lexus. Very easy to damage that wiring while changing bulbs. Excellent video, thanks again.
You're welcome, David. I appreciate the comment 🙂
how do de pin the connector? I pulled the white wires cleanly from the connector
If the wires were pulled out of the connectors and not just ripped at the wires, how do you properly attach the wires into the connectors?
how do I reconnect the wires to the connectors?
Damn! Had the same thing happen to me but both my connections snapped right at the connector. Not sure if I’m able to get the end out of the female connector. 🤔 By the way, do you know what size nuts are used for the taillights?
Haha! Sorry, qui, I can't recall what they were and it wasn't my vehicle, otherwise I'd run out and check for you. 😞
I usually make it a point to call sizes out. If I remember correctly, the flange nuts all ended up being the same size, we just used different ratchet attachments.
Please reply with the answer, if you end up doing the job, to help others that happen to stumble across this video.
Great comment, thank you for bringing this up, my friend 😄
@@VestigialVoice I ended up removing the terminals and soldering the wires from the transistor. The nuts are 10mm and a deep socket and a flexible joint is needed. Job was successful!
@@esqui517 Excellent follow-up, qui! I'm thrilled to hear that everything worked out for you! 😇
@@VestigialVoice thank you for your tutorial. It saved about $180.
Maybe a stupid question but the wires are not color coded...If the wires are cut all off and I reconnect them, is there a positive and negative or does it not matter?
Nah, that's an intelligent question, chris.
By definition, diodes allow current to flow in one direction and conditionally restrict it moving in the other direction.
Because this is an LED (light-emitting diode) it will only illuminate if placed in the correct position.
Conversely, incandescent bulbs can be wired in either direction.
Thank you for the comment, my friend 😊
I have the same issue on the driver’s side. The break lights won’t work, but the passenger side works fine. Is it possible just fuse? Which fuse should I check?
There are a couple fuse boxes in your vehicle. It doesn't take long at all (and is frankly a good idea) to go through and verify all fuses are intact, Eric.
Your problem may end up being a wiring or connector issue though.
@@VestigialVoice thank you for the quick reply. I will check all fuses. 👍
@@VestigialVoice do I need to take out the whole lights assembly to work on the wiring?
@@Yingchanlan Unless you spot the defect upon removing the rear compartment, I advise that you take off the light assembly, yep.
@@VestigialVoice got it, thank you for the tips. Now I need to find out what size of deep socket do I need to buy.👍
Thank you for the video. I am still looking for an easier way to remove the last flange nut bolt :-). The last one is way under the cover and I was hoping to have some tool designed for that....
I just replaced mine but it is on the passenger side and just due to cosmetic reason. For me I had to remove the bulbs from the socket to be able to use the ratchet and a long socket to remove the top screw. To disconnect the yellow and the gray connectors I had to popped open the inside cover....my hands were small but I was not able to slide all the way down to the connectors.
Thank you for sharing the additional information with us, Vu 👍
@@vufirst What size of long deep socket do you use?
@@Yingchanlan 10mm. I'm not a 100%sure since it has been a while. Very sure though :-)
@@vufirst Thank you 😊
