I am so incredibly thankful this recording exists as the special on Netflix was very different in the end. I personally love this set far more, but both are great. Thank you for this!
Thanks for the comments and questions. To those who wonder how I was able to record the concert, the answer is...I was not inside the venue, though my camerawork makes it look like I was, so I was not subject to the rules of the venue.
There are rules now? Remember when every venue banned audio and camera equipment? Then came the 2000s, and there were no rules! I thought it would stay that way :(
@@tooblady5116 sort of makes this video more precious. It was a good set
I saw Saratoga show last night. Though I understand the policy it was fucking horrible execution. There was not a single clock anywhere. No one knew what time it was unless you were either 80 or rich and had a non smart watch
@@TheDinoKitteh It's so disrespectful to record someones set, letalone post the whole fkn thing online... wish op wouldve at least thought about it before posting
At his red rocks show in April, they were incredibly strict on phones and electronics. My sisters and I practically worship John and seeing him live was the absolute hardest I’ve ever laughed in my entire life. Every joke seeing it live was absolutely electric.
He's so incredibly funny. I'm wondering...how similar was the show you saw to the one I've posted here?
@@PaulIorio1 I’d say about a quarter of it was the same general bit, but the rest was exclusive to us. He even went on about a plane that was flying above us
@@mattthomas8178 Thanks for the info.
I liked John, till he ambushed us with the bigot Dave Chappelle.
@@jesipohl6717 how do y’all not realize how incredibly stupid it is to hold him accountable for someone else’s jokes?
Were you filming this from a tree?
Let him.
Sure Did!
Cool right!
👍
Yes, he's a representative for Chip and Dale's biggest rivals: Alvin and the chipmunks
I want to believe so
he’s doing us a favor damnit
Thanks for sharing, I love Mulaney.
i was at his columbus show - rules were so strict, we weren't even allowed to have watches. but the show was soooo good my face hurt for hours after the show from all of the laughing and smiling and my throat hurt from all of my screaming💀
funniest man currently alive
His grandparents bit is so dark, but so true.
I mean, you have 4, so...
Mulaney is my sobriety... Can't wait to see him in August 💙
Mulaney clearly hates trans people, not sure that subjecting a partially queer audience who went to see him and loved him to a surprise transphobia set by dave chappelle encourages much sobriety. Imagine a trans person in that audience on the edge, going back to the bottle...
Please search for your sobriety in yourself, the person you want to be, and the people you care about. The Pop-culture pantheon will always be a let down, I believe.
helped me every night during my divorce,Then Oh hello!
Even after the special, I love this particular set so much more.
That song was so passive aggressive. Love it.
“Our reputation is different!” 🎶
Just saw this show live in (not on) Long Island, fucking tears of laughter!!!! Mulaney is a master of his craft
I was there too! lmao
oh this mulaney is _different_ I am here for it
I actually love the trees!
“And I bet Oakland’s its own place too.”🤩🥰🤣😂
Your laugh is the best!!
I was there!
I’d love to meet the guy who recorded this, he laughs at all the times I laugh.
Thanks! You're meeting him now!
That space race joke got me good lmfao
This is so dark and I love it
John: “And all the kids like Bo Burnham more! Because currently he’s less PROBLEMATIC!!!”
Me (has been obsessing over Bo Burnham as much as I used to obsess over John Mulaney):
“😳 …
Hehe, I got the reference. 😏”
Watching ppl watching Mulaney.
I was there last night. How did you get your phone to not be bagged and locked ?
he filmed this in the hills above the venue
The coldest winter I ever spent was that summer in San Francisco
Evidently wherever he was outside the venue he couldn't see the stage...
I don't think he's actually inside the venue.
NO WAY HE CALLED OUT BO BURNHAM LMAO
i saw him live and forgot the dates he said he was actually sober, does anyone remember? because the old narrative on the media is totally not true where it said he was sober from 2005-2020, he said something different at the show i cant remember it though
Be ause he lies and is a comedian who knows how to disarm critical thought with charm. I doubt he's sober right now.
@@Calax93 Its possible, I mean thinking about having to go on tour in all those places, unless he really got it together, as an ex addict that can be insanely triggering to want to do coke at the shows, would make it a lot more fun and bearable
I worked the event those 2 nights. There was no way anyone could use their phones. He def outside the vicinity. Sucks because he doesn’t want his content out as he tours. Most comedians don’t.
ALL YOU NEEDED TO KNOW SOMEBODY THAT WAS WORKING THE EVENT TO GIVE YOU THIER PHONE....I WORKED LOCKING PHONES AND WE NEVER HAD TO LOCK OURS I COULD HAVE GOTTEN ANYONES PHONE IN
*gasp* they're standing... on the desks...
filmed on a trumpet sitting on a radiator (very grateful and enjoyed the close up of the .. carob tree?)
Were you filming the crowd to avoid copyright issues? Or just cuz you're outside the venue
How’d you get your phone through security bro, they were like hawks
ALL YOU NEEDED TO KNOW SOMEBODY THAT WAS WORKING THE EVENT TO GIVE YOU THIER PHONE....I WORKED LOCKING PHONES AND WE NEVER HAD TO LOCK OURS I COULD HAVE GOTTEN ANYONES PHONE IN
@@russellmohr9758 during the performance I saw someone being chased by security bc they had their phone even if I know someone I ain’t risking it.
@@owenflaherty9207 You asked a question and I answered it....I answered your question about about how to get a phone past security...another way to use your phone is you can take your car keys and cut along the seam and open the pouch....Now if you were to ask me how would you get away with using it to record that is something i have no idea how you would get away with. If the arena staff didnt catch you I'm sure somebody would tell on you...you could record the audio probably easy enough but to record the visuals would take some ingenuity for sure...lol
i don't think this was filmed from a phone lol
Nah this guy filmed on a Sakar Monster High 38048 Digital Video Recorder
hI i'M JoSh JoShInSoN!!!
I was wondering how you were able to film this? I went to this a week ago at Merriweather Post Pavilion and the staff made us put all smartphones in a locked pouch and we couldn’t have our phone until after the show! Lol I felt like a kid in High School getting their phone taken away 🤣
Thanks for the question, Stephanie. Without revealing trade secrets, let me say that I was not inside the venue, though my camerawork makes it look like I was, so I was not subject to the rules of the venue.
Same for us last night. And now we know this was why. He has waaay too many tour dates lined up n he is most likely working this hard to secure himself financially for his new family. Lets not ruin it for him.
there’s hills surrounding this theater in berkeley
I wonder if you stuff it deep in your underwear or bra you could keep your phone lmao. I know they pat you down sometimes but still
oh nvm metal detectors probably thwart that
I saw this show in Raleigh. You must have had really bad seats
Opps. I think the R stood for the “Republic.”
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the dog didn't actually live.
21:14 Florida laughs
Why not try filming the stage?
don’t mean to ruin the fun but russia also sent the first man to space so.... idk
"the R stood for Russia" should have tipped everyone off that facts wouldn't get in the way of "the fun". It never has for Russia so I'll give John a pass on the history, but not on this tepid comedy.
Also, the dog, Laika, died a few hours into the flight, there were never any plans to bring it back.
Also the first woman!
@@TheMonroemomma yeah and the first man in outer space! besides many dogs mice etc :)
Is this suitable for a 16 year old to go see with her dad or would u say its incredibly awkward
Saw him at msg it was an amazing show. The harshest part is him mentioning his drug addiction and rehab a few times in the set. But they are jokes at the end of the day.
I went with my 19 & 14 year old; he's our favourite comedian, and it was awesome! Depends on your kids though, and depends on the relationship you have with them. My son (the 14-year-old) and I are close, and enjoy a lot of things together. Just think about who you were at 16; they're much more grown-up, at least when it comes to social/ political/ life matters, than many parents want to give them credit for. I say go for it!
He included a 9yr old in the audience his show, it was awesome n she will talk about it years to come lol.
“Science”….”Stupid-ass subject!” 😜
Filming from a hot air balloon?
Electronic device rules were so damn strict you couldn’t of even filmed or have any device on you that wasn’t locked up
No John, the dog DID NOT live. Laika overheated a few hours into it. Either you're ignorant, or just talking shit, but either way, I'm disappointed. I still love you to pieces.
Yeah. And the USSR was actually the first country to send man into space. I’m not a russia fan. I just love truth and hate misinformation
Sorry but he doesn’t seem sober, based on that hair etc
He’s a new father. He probably isn’t sleeping real well.
@@LadyBelladonnaStorm He knocked up another woman, left his wife, made an embarrassing spectacle of himself while high on late night shows, publicly apologized for being high on a night night show, announced he just got out of rehab and he knocked up another woman who he’s now married to.
He has completely fallen apart.
@@tater6124 I don’t know anything about any of that, but if one was going through the emotional upheaval of a divorce, a new relationship, recovery, and new parenthood, how good can they possibly look, figuratively or literally? He’s trying his best. It doesn’t automatically translate that he’s “fallen apart.”
Having chappelle surprise his audience recently, an audience that is famously more than marginally gay or trans, doesn't exactly scream "I'm sober and making great decisions for my career and life". My guess is his liberal humor won't really fit with Chappelle's whocares-Gen-X audience either. That said, he could be coming off of a long addiction period and after effects for alcohol can last up to 2 years if not life-long whereas long-term chronic coke use can lead to parkinsons, irritability, etc for the rest of your life and similar symptoms over the short term. He could be coming down or acclimating to his new normal.
I'm pretty sure chappelle is on joe rogan's steroids program or something. no wonder he's become such a little pecker.
@@LadyBelladonnaStorm I don't think inviting chappelle to berate your more than marginally queer audience is "trying his best" more likely he's never been much of a good or nice person and now he's finally dealing with the consequences. I hope he recovers and can learn to be loved without being on coke or appealing to hate to grab new fans.
Mulaney went from funny to bigot in one show. He was a nicer human on coke.
Cry about it, maybe grow up while your at it
@@bakes7423 do many children write like me where you are from? They must be really smart to know what the word "bigot" means, though it's kinda sad they already know what coke is too ;)
