I could never decide between these two. They both sound phenomenal.

Awesome comparison video. And I must say that you are a fuckin riff monster Eric! What a great pairing for such epic fuzzers! I look way forward for more content regarding Mask Audio Electronics who is to me one of the most (if not THE MOST) vital forces in modern fuzz! Alec’s a beautiful dude and I’m just so grateful how far he’s come and to see the community growing around his ideas and EPIC fuzz!!

I love my Black Math. Usually run it with the tone backed off and slam it with an OD-1 before it for maximum crunch. Lately I’ve been experimenting with the gain and boost controls to get different textures. Its amazing how articulate playing with the boost control can make the math be! Can’t play a show without one on my board.🤘

Really gonna need to try out civil math at some point in the future and see how it likes the OD-1 compared to the regular Math.

There are definitely a lot of variations to be had when combining the gain and boost! Sounds like you’ve got a great setup!

Thank you for the thorough and useful comparison! I hope a Helvetica 92 demo is on the agenda. :)

Hey bro, what zip code are you in? If you wanna write and record some shit hit me up. The riffs remind me of Blues for the Red Sun. My only claim to fame is I played drums with Dying Fetus for a while back in ‘98, still know J. Gallagher well. You and I write guitar extremely similar. My name is Casey B, if you’re ever near Baltimore we should jam. Check out a band called dredg, album; “El Ceilo” and a NY band called Elder. The Big Ear “Albie” is on my board. That black math pedal sounds ridiculous. Like C.O.C. ridiculous. Great demo man.

I barely comment on gear videos, but I'm compelled to state that the Black Math doesn't have a bad sound in it. Each time you explained what was happening in the circuit, I thought "oh man, that's just going sound reedy or grating" but every setting was great!

I know why it’s called Civil Math, but I think y’all missed an opportunity to call it the Green Math. 🙃 Great video though!

There is nothing civil about that pedal. It's angry.
