I thought the acting was ideal. The OTT histrionics, yelling and screaming and running around that are seen in most horror films are ludicrous. In real life when folks are confronted with inexplicable phenomena, they're not constantly jumping up and down and emitting shrieks of terror. They quietly, gradually get progressively more and more confused and disconcerted, precisely as happens in this film. Incidentally, the reason the concept is a 10/10 is because it originated with the all-time master of horror writing M.R. James, who used it in his marvelous short story The Mezzotint. It also appears in slightly altered form in his tale The Haunted Dolls' House.
That's exactly what I was going to say that is the worst acting I've ever seen in my life! I seen 3rd grade plays and the actors were much better than them 2!
Been binging a lot of horror shorts lately and it's good to see the protagonists actually try to destroy a cursed object instead of ignoring all the evidence, haha. Really liked the concept.
I didn't realize this was a student project, so that and your pinned comment answers a lot of my questions. I really liked the concept of the moving photograph and I would have liked to see that more incorporated into how the monster works, rather than just serve as a kind of warning. Also the monster girl is super creepy but she's also exactly Sadako from the Ring. Overall for a first film I think you guys did great and it sounds like if you had more time you could've ironed out a lot of the kinks. It's always good to see new filmmakers, so keep it up!
As a filmmaker myself (7 years, about to shoot our first feature length horror next year) I am very VERY impressed with what you have done here. For a first school project this is honestly shot better than half the shorts (and some feature for that matter) than i have seen. Limited resources, probably little to no budget, you should be extremely proud of yourselves and best of luck for the future. Dont listen to what others are saying about the acting, thats not your job, your job is telling stories and working the dynamics & visuals of the film, which you did excellently. Bravo!
Very interesting and phantasmagorical idea. I think, that the actors could have acted more shocked and intrigued and searched for help/answers, but after all, it was a short. Well done !
I'm not a film critic and have never attempted to make a film. However the concept was good, the actors could have acted like everything was actually happening and not just going through the emotions? Background music etc would have helped. Nice work though looking forward to another.
The acting was a little lacking and it was filmed too dark for my taste BUT the plot and the atmosphere were quite good. It reminded me of the old Night Gallery episode 'The Cemetery' where the creepy cemetery painting kept changing. Keep making horror films!
This was better than some of the movies on Netflix I really enjoyed it I am a horror movie fan and I really really really like this I like that you could not see the demons face thank you ❗
See this is why we need to hire actors. This was very interesting and actually probably would’ve been better had the acting been better. The acting made this so unbelievable that I couldn’t even pretend to be invested in this. Everything else was good and I would like to know the lore with the painting and the story behind what’s happening and why. But yeah these two need acting lessons or we need a new car. A for effort though.
Clever title for your film. I noticed right away when she walked past the picture rubbing her eyes, that it had changed. Very creepy. It would be cool to see if, like you said, you revisited this sometime down the line and made a new version applying your experience. Best of luck!
This photograph should be used as a source of infinite energy: people burn it and it is somehow recovered. Hooray, the humanity's energy problem has finally been solved!
This was really good pretty creepy you can also have a drinking game every time he would keep saying this is fucked up its a good thing that I don't drink otherwise I would be wasted
Gotta say this was really quite sad as they seemed an innocent couple to be haunted to death by this entity , as an opinion i still don't think it was her in the picture at first though it sure looks like her & he ends up in it as well perhaps cause he hung it on the wall. What a haunting little sad gem of a bad ghost bent on death to anyone unlucky enough to find that picture. They did nothing we know of as bad enough to deserve such a fate but evil spirits couldn't care less . I've done a lot of B&W infrared photography which is rather creepy in it's characteristics but nothing this bad ever happened by putting them up & i realize that's not an infrared picture but it does have those creepy undertones to it. Great job on this though i felt genuine sorrow for these two so your film did what it was supposed to do . This was a bit similar to an old Night Gallery story where Roddy McDowell kills his uncle but there's a painting on the wall that keeps changing & each time he gets rid of it it comes back . The ending is bad for him but he deserved it as these two did not. Sad but very well done .
Honestly I thought the acting was a bit stiff in places, but it wasn’t really that bad. I’ve seen a lot worse (and a lot more minimalist) acting in a lot of films (short and long), and I prefer this to some “large ham” acting I have seen.
This was very well done and was able to convey such an eerie ambience and growing dread in such a brief time. I must admit, though, I was focused more on the actor's (who played the husband) amazing curly hair, lol.
I know I'm a year late but just usung strings in certain places 9:22 was all this gem of a horror need. The tension & fright are there..... Waittng💀☠️💋💋
The scenario is original and brilliant, and pretty well executed. There were a lot of problems with the acting (though forgivable for a school project, although the running/sauntering away from the monster was truly dreadful, I've gotta say ^^). The final act in the dark was pretty tense although the music was too loud and too suspenseful, which doesn't work for a panic scene.
You guys should add background music, like suspense type music, it would b grt after that.....you know, behind every successful video, sound contributes 50%
The concept and plot were a 10/10, but the acting was a 1/10, their emotions were flat and non dramatic. With the right actors this could be amazing.
Exactly!!!!

@@jasonhurd4379 That all might be true, but the first five minutes are... not great.
That's exactly what I was going to say that is the worst acting I've ever seen in my life! I seen 3rd grade plays and the actors were much better than them 2!
True, the actors couldn' t act.
I was waiting for Nickelback to start playing
We all did
lol
Bwahaha!!
Not me singing "every time I do, it makes me laugh" as soon as I saw the title lol
Lmfao 🤣😆🤣😆🤣🤣😆🤣😆 oh, holy hell.

For first crack out of the starting gate by students, well done. Look how Evil Dead started off. Good luck!
Concept quite good...but the acting was the scariest part !! 🫣😱
Reminds me of a Night Gallery episode called “The Cemetery”. Roddy McDowall starred in it. It was very scary.
Exactly. They ripped off the idea. For shame. Kids...try again.

Thank you🙏 We actually just graduated today too!
@@henriktawatao339 belated congratulations well done to all of you who graduated and best luck for the future
That monster could guard Shaq
Why was I expecting a full blown Song horror parody of Photograph... XD
The small details like the light from the flashlight really help you get into the story.
Dammit, even though I knew a jump scare was coming, you still got me.
The cops? I don't think they're equipped for this.
For a first attempt it is pretty good. Can't wait for your next project!
Thanks mate!
Very interesting and phantasmagorical idea. I think, that the actors could have acted more shocked and intrigued and searched for help/answers, but after all, it was a short. Well done !
LOL! 😂
"Phantasmagorial"? Dude, just say "strange" or "surreal" or "dreamlike" 🙄
When I saw them appear in the painting I was like “ohr nohr”
Calling 911 and grabbing a knife is definitely the right way of fighting a supernatural angry being...
What make you think that being is angry?
@@arbjful well, she was tormenting and murdered at leat one of the characters (I believe the woman was killed as well)
Their annual restaurant bill must be through the roof.
The acting scared me

Yes the female actress I found not upto d scenes

Girl act nice simple one lovly likeee 🌹🌹
Wow what an original concept! That is actually amazing for a first school project! Well done! Hope to see more from you 😊
you know, even if I was just the actor playing the role as the lady, I STILL would be terrified
Ring for pictures. Cool concept.
That was neat horror film about a cursed photograph.
really well done! story and acting!
This was better than some of the movies on Netflix I really enjoyed it I am a horror movie fan and I really really really like this I like that you could not see the demons face thank you ❗
The story is horrifying but the actors are not acting very scared. I girl doesn't scream at all!
If a picture paints a thousand words, I can paint it in three: Oh - my - gosh! 😊
#HT & #Jae... 😱 cr eepyliscious and decent
acting 💯 Cute couple, 😝 nice plot..

Plotting was awesome 10/10

Thank you, that is what I thought! The man and the lady seem not freaked out...why? Chalk up due to bad acting!👎
the short film is awesome i love the concept but if i was there i would have ran like hell 😂
very good. made me scream out. good 👍🏻

Great concept, really interesting, and I realise the cast were not professional actors but that ruined it for me.
omg - this was good, creepy, and well done. the last 2 seconds made me jump
Liked all the Photos 👍
This photograph should be used as a source of infinite energy: people burn it and it is somehow recovered. Hooray, the humanity's energy problem has finally been solved!
My favorite part was when that frog fell off the cat xD
A good basic premise. It has potential.
Ghost in house and the were reacting so chilling 😂
This reminds me of a story that one of my fave narrators(Jason Hill) did a while back. If you get a chance you should listen to it! Amazing good also!
This reminds me of an episode of the infamous show Night Gallery. Good job guys👍
This was really good pretty creepy you can also have a drinking game every time he would keep saying this is fucked up its a good thing that I don't drink otherwise I would be wasted

Loved this awesome film
Should of been more 😲 shocked. 🇯🇲🇬🇧
Why does she ask where the picture came from when the movie starts out with her putting it there?
the picture keep changing.

What an amazing job. Everyone did an excellent job behind and in front of the screen.
Great film good job 👍👍
Good expecting to continue

It's almost midnight. I'm on minute 8.50 just when the lights are off in the video. I can't keep watching. I'll see it tomorrow.

This is very good!
Look at this photograph.
Every time I do it makes me laugh.
Put some creepy music into the film and see if that changes the atmosphere of it all. It's a good concept ☺️
No. Music ruins horror. Horror is much more immersive, intense, and effective without music.
I know I'm a year late but just usung strings in certain places 9:22 was all this gem of a horror need. The tension & fright are there..... Waittng💀☠️💋💋

😮 great job i dont like old fotos now even more thank u great movie
Every time I do it makes me laugh.
She wasn't very broken up to find hubby dead.
Good film but the audio could use rebalancing. The people are way too quiet when they talk and too loud when they yell
The idea is great, the last few seconds 100% mainstream
Scary!
No Nickelback jokes?
every time i watch this it makes me laugh
How did your eyes get so red?
And what the hell is on Joey's - oh nevermind.
Immediately thought of nickleback
